Chapter 1042: Chapter 21 Demon Lair
"Mr. Sekiya, be careful!" cried Aihara Chiharu, seeing Sekiya Ganta struggling awkwardly under the attack of the Demons, drenched in sweat from anxiety, "Mr. Tang, please save him."
Aoki Hiroshi and Ota Nobe did not waste words, but their hearts were filled with gratitude. Tang Zheng stood in front of the three, blocking the Demons. Otherwise, they would surely die.
Any wrong move in combat could lead to death. Davis was clearly the kind of Conqueror who did not care for newbies. If the American newbies had not listened to him, had not gone to pick up guns, and had not left the group, they could have survived a while longer.
Aoki Hiroshi was intelligent and calm enough to take in the whole situation, but he did not know that Tang Zheng’s rescue was just incidental.
Faced with unknown enemies and unpredictable combat, Conquerors would usually choose to conserve strength and observe. Otherwise, if they fought with full force, the newbies would definitely not die.
Tang Zheng needed the newbies as cannon fodder, but he couldn’t let them die in such a worthless place. At the very least, they should perish together with a minor boss. Having noticed how the events of this one night had greatly endeared him to the Japanese, with Aihara Chiharu worshiping him, he realized he had to bring back a couple to spread the word of his good image.
"Japanese people like the idea of dying gloriously, don’t they? I hope you won’t disappoint me." Tang Zheng felt that at the right time, he could brainwash them a little, seduce them into strapping bombs on themselves, and engage in a suicidal charge.
"Mr. Tang, I beg you!" Aihara Chiharu pleaded with tears in her eyes. She was a girl who knew how to be grateful. For Sekiya Ganta, the stranger who had helped her, she would do her best to help. After failing to persuade Tang Zheng, she even picked up an axe, ready to join the fight.
"Stay quiet, he won’t die. Don’t you see Pang Meiqin next to him?" Tang Zheng reprimanded. "Don’t cause trouble."
Pang Meiqin had already killed two lower Demons and was brutalizing a third. Her left hand, holding the Thompson submachine gun, aimed at the Demon’s head. Whenever it charged, she would fire a suppressed single shot to disturb its vision. The black axe in her right hand was her main attack, and with each chop, deep gashes were left on the Demon’s body, with skin peeling and flesh flipping.
The screams of the Demon grew louder and louder.
"What are you running around for? You’re drawing the monsters over," Sekiya Ganta put up a valiant fight. Even though he was nervous, he wasn’t scared and started using guerrilla tactics. Seeing he wouldn’t die anytime soon, the Beautiful Leg Stewardess decided to lend a hand.
"When did Meiqin become so powerful?" Dantai was shocked. Even though the Demons were trash, they shouldn’t be slaughtered so effortlessly by Pang Meiqin. After all, this Beautiful Leg Stewardess previously was only known for her running away, her impressive driving skills, and seizing opportunities to snatch kills, and nothing else.
Tang Zheng was also puzzled, but Pang Meiqin’s overall awareness had always been good, or else she wouldn’t have been able to escape.
"Weren’t you Conquerors? Why are you so weak?" An American soldier, injured with a broken sternum, roared angrily at Davis.
"Watch your tone, newbie." Davis was a brute, quick to take offense, so he grabbed a Demon in front of him and hurled it at the soldier.
The soldier dodged in a panic, a half step too slow. The severely injured Demon quickly got up, grabbed his arm, then swung him around and smashed him to the ground. The soldier’s body burst like a hot water bottle, and the Demon then tore his head off, ripping him in two.
Before the lower Demons were finished, new monsters came scurrying down from a hole in the ceiling.
It was a swarm of Demonic Flies, from Hell, their bodies a mix of red and green, surrounded by Black Mist, each one as big as a basketball. Their mouthparts were not suction tubes, but sharp teeth that could bite through solid concrete. Their main feathers were two-meter-long tentacles used to bind their prey.
Their semi-transparent wings vibrated, making a loud buzzing sound, like warplanes as they swooped down on the survivors.
"How disgusting!" exclaimed Pang Meiqin. After beheading the Demon in front of her, she rapidly retreated, her left hand drawing a semicircle with her gun and firing bullets that tore into the bodies of the Demonic Flies, bursting them. Broken flesh and green fluid splattered disgustingly on the ground.
A Demonic Fly dodged the barrage and flew towards her.
Pang Meiqin, a stickler for cleanliness, would not allow such a creature near her. With a single hand, she threw her axe into its body, pinning it against the Wall. The fly split in two and fell to the ground.
"Kill them quickly, they’re so scary," Teng Yuangxiang said, holding a handgun and playing the fragile woman. To save life energy, she did not activate her Seed Ability, so she didn’t hit a single one.
Tang Zheng and Dantai had impeccable shooting skills. With great strength controlling their Uzi submachine guns, the muzzles didn’t tremble at all. They accurately shot the bullets into the compound eyes of the Demonic Flies. Two bullets per fly, and in no time, more than twenty lay dead before them.
"Change the clip." Dantai reminded Tang Zheng to cover him, keeping the firepower uninterrupted.
Three American soldiers were retreating towards the two Conquerors, but unfortunately, Davis and Anna showed no intention of providing support.
Because they were nervous, their tactical actions were off, and since they only had handguns and military knives, their fighting skills were greatly reduced.
The Demon leaped, extending its long arm for a sweep that hit the young soldier’s Armature, knocking him rolling away. Before he could get up, a Demonic Fly arrived, its tentacle feathers trembling as they quickly wrapped around him. The backward-facing barbs on the tentacles pierced into the soldier’s body, preventing his escape.
The soldiers screamed in agony, twisting their bodies in an attempt to break free.
The demonic flies closed their wings and descended, crawling beside the soldiers, their large mouths tearing and devouring flesh. One of them bit off a soldier’s skull, and as it chewed, bone fragments and brain pulp tumbled from its blood-red, sharp teeth.
The Japanese turned pale, their breathing heavy, but then they felt relieved. Thankfully, they had chosen to follow the Chinese that day. Otherwise, they would have met the same deadly fate. Americans don’t even save their own, let alone them.
Two soldiers yelled for Davis’s support, screaming for help to rescue their combat mate—completely ignored.
"Meiqin, bring Sekiya back; I’m running out of bullets," Tang Zheng said, deciding not to engage in melee combat. However, the barrage was clearly not suppressing the demonic flies, especially since hundreds more were descending from the holes in the ceiling.
"Stop wasting time. Either we retreat, or we go up and take down that boss," Anna with the huge breasts said, frustration evident on her face. "That guy is definitely the boss; I saw a sculpture of a demon in his office."
"Muscle Man, Anna, Meiqin, the four of you come upstairs with me; the rest get out of the bar," Tang Zheng called out, unfortunately, not to the satisfaction of the Americans.
"Why don’t we all go up together?" Davis valued Dantai’s strength and felt an extra person would be beneficial against the boss.
"Do you want the newbies to die?" Tang Zheng gave the American a reality check. As long as the two soldiers stayed alive, they would certainly complain upon return, sowing discord and disrupting team unity.
"If we don’t fight, we’ll die in the end anyway," Anna with the huge breasts pointed out smartly, not falling for Tang Zheng’s verbal trap.
"I’m not going," the prostitute Anna said, her face drained of all color.
"I wasn’t talking about you." Tang Zheng noticed that Yin Zhijian had actually survived, hiding behind a sofa with an expression of pain on his face, his buttocks burning even without moving.
"Alright, let’s move," Tang Zheng led the way, "One thing to clarify: whoever kills the most gets the spoils of war."
"The group leader should set an example and lead the charge!" Anna, armed with two submachine guns, was not only fierce but also very suspicious, worried about being shot in the back.
"Fine, I’ll go first!" Tang Zheng declared, holding a gun in his left hand and an axe in his right, charging ahead.
Davis went second, followed by Anna.
"Idiots, who said the second in line puts in less effort?" As she watched the two American Conquerors relax, Pang Meiqin could almost die laughing. Facing the demonic flies and demons swooping down, Tang Zheng only inflicted wounds, not killing, focusing on advancing and leaving the Americans to deal with the aftermath.
Davis and Anna were unlucky—the monsters, although not threatening, were too draining to slaughter.
Tang Zheng was slacking off, but the observant Anna with the huge breasts couldn’t see through it, as he inflicted wounds on each monster, seemingly attempting to intercept them but not quite succeeding—of course, occasionally he would kill a few.
Anna couldn’t see the flaw, and Muscle Man was even less likely to notice. Watching Tang Zheng breathe heavily as he led the way, they thought they were benefiting from the group leader’s actions and felt secretly pleased.
Pang Meiqin was the most relaxed, and her headhunting was exceptionally fierce. Whenever she encountered a dying monster, she wouldn’t wait for the Americans to act; she’d already shot and explosively killed the monster, diverting their attention once again.
"Something doesn’t seem right!" The assault was quick, and the yellow-skinned group leader was exerting a lot of effort, so why was there an uncomfortable feeling lingering? A look of confusion slowly crept over Anna’s face as she began to harbor doubts.
"Is the boss in that room? What does it look like?" asked Tang Zheng, hardly tired, but still feigning a slight panting as he tried to divert Anna’s thoughts from the combat process before she realized he was holding back.
Actually, it wouldn’t matter if she noticed; they had no solution. Could they swap places and take the lead in the charge? Tang Zheng would’ve liked that. And even if they copied his slack-off tactic, he had ways to counter it.
"Tch, it serves her right," Pang Meiqin thought Anna with the huge breasts was asking for trouble. Tang Zheng was a good guy; if everyone acted together and was honest, he would never do this. But now, let them tire themselves out.
"So strong!" Seeing Tang Zheng break through to the fourth floor in one go, using just his physical strength without resorting to abilities, Davis was impressed. "Are you from the Beastification System too?"
Tang Zheng had no time to answer. He kicked the office’s main entrance. Like it had been hit by an AT-4, the door flew off with a bang and smashed against the wall across it.
The Viper Gang leader was squatting in front of an open leather suitcase, stuffing diamonds and US dollars into it, and was startled to see the four burst in.
"Demons, protect me; I’ll give you five more years of life energy, no, make it seven!" the middle-aged boss, who had accidentally come across a demon a year earlier because of his killings, had signed a contract in a stroke of luck.(To be continued.
