Chapter 1009: Chapter 55: The Bizarre Assassination and the Death of the Group Leader

The red-clothed woman, like a cunning hunter, waited quietly, choosing to strike on the evening of the seventh day because, thanks to her bizarre ability, she was fearless.

"Jian Fan!" Yu Mei walked up to the square-faced man, tugged at his sleeve. After spending a few days together, their relationship had deepened. In this perilously dangerous game, women are especially vulnerable and tend to seek the comfort of a reliable man’s chest.

The male Conquerors instilled fear because their strength was overwhelming, and women feared getting hurt. Hence, the male newbies became the best choice, and the qualities Jian Fan had displayed proved he was a good man.

"What’s wrong?" Jian Fan asked, puzzled, before catching Yu Mei’s meaningful glance toward the outside and realizing what she meant. She wanted to go to the restroom.

"Heh, going for a rendezvous, are you?" Lu Tao teased as he wiped down his rifle. Thanks to shared views, their relationship had already grown quite strong.

"No, it’s not like that," Yu Mei said shyly, her cheeks flushing red.

"Let’s go," said Jian Fan, the gentleman, shouldering his rifle and leading the way out.

"Bitch!" Pang Lixing eyed Yu Mei’s buttocks, tightly wrapped in her outfit, jealousy gnashing his teeth, "Watch out or I’ll tell the Group Leader about your little escapade."

This was a residential area. After eliminating the nearby swarm of insects, they had stationed there temporarily. Conquerors obviously couldn’t always live together with the newbies, so they were mostly free to do as they pleased.

"Go ahead!" After crossing a street, Jian Fan stood outside an abandoned bar, "Don’t worry, I’ll be here. No bugs will harass you."

"Thank you!" Yu Mei entered with a flushed face, walked deeper into the lobby to avoid being overheard by Jian Fan, and then she unbuckled her protective clothing and crouched to relieve herself.

"He’s really not bad. Should I confess to him? I hope he won’t reject me," murmured Yu Mei, her mind in turmoil like a woman in love, completely unaware that the red-clothed woman had already appeared in the hallway behind the lobby.

"Foolish newbie." The red-clothed woman mimed a handgun, aiming at Yu Mei, then released her power. A red skeleton pattern shot out from her fingers, striking Yu Mei’s back.

Bent over, pulling up her pants, Yu Mei’s eyes darkened as she instantly lost consciousness and became the red-clothed woman’s puppet.

Having observed their departure from the team on the monitor and already lying in ambush nearby, the red-clothed woman knew her opportunity had come. After all, this place was closest to their camping ground and was a fixed location newbies would not dare stray far from.

"This body is so hard to use!" the red-clothed woman who had taken over Yu Mei’s body complained, moving her limbs a little and then pretending to injure her ankle, letting out a cry of pain and collapsing to one side.

"What happened?" Jian Fan, hearing the commotion, rushed in anxiously to find Yu Mei lying on the ground with her buttocks bare since her protective clothing was a one-piece, leaving her chest exposed.

"Don’t look!" The red-clothed woman feigned shyness, covering up her body.

"Are you alright?" Jian Fan covered his eyes, but he couldn’t help the heat rising in his lower abdomen as he became aroused.

"I’m fine. Jian Fan, Team Leader Su Han seems like a colleague’s brother. Let’s go ask around, okay? If it’s true, it’ll be much safer than sticking with Tang Zheng," the red-clothed woman saw another chance to get close to Su Han. She was careful, having Jian Fan with her would reduce the chances of being seen through. Otherwise, she would have controlled Yu Mei to strike much earlier.

"Yeah, we can do that," Jian Fan nodded. He had also been looking for an excuse to connect with Su Han; he couldn’t hang all his hopes on the Warhammer Squad.

"You’re really nice," the red-clothed woman suddenly embraced Jian Fan’s waist, pressing her chest against his, then stood on tiptoes and kissed him.

Jian Fan was no Liu Xiahui, and immediately embraced Yu Mei, ready to explore further.

"Stop, be careful in case the Group Leader finds out and makes things difficult for us," the red-clothed woman demurred, intentionally stringing Jian Fan along.

"Tang Zheng isn’t that kind of person, is he?" Jian Fan hesitated, preoccupied with thoughts of bedding her, so he didn’t notice the ’Yu Mei’s different little habits. Besides, after just a few days together, it would be impossible to pick up on them. This confidence was also why the red-clothed woman was so bold.

"If he wanted me, could you stop him? So we better find some support fast!" The red-clothed woman stroked Jian Fan’s cheek, "How about tonight? I’ll make sure you enjoy it."

"Yeah," Jian Fan agreed, "I’ll take you there right now."

"You go on ahead and wait for me; I still need to tidy up," Yu Mei pushed Jian Fan away, and once he was out of the bar, she quickly moved to the corridor behind.

As soon as the red-clothed woman left Yu Mei’s body, the latter’s eyes widened in terror, trying to scream loudly.

Bang—the red-clothed woman covered Yu Mei’s mouth with one hand and slammed her skull against the wall.

"Mmm!" Yu Mei struggled in vain as the blood that streamed out stained her cheeks red.

"Tsk tsk, you’re about to be killed, y’know?" The red-clothed woman leaned close to Yu Mei’s cheek, licked her blood, and taunted her with a sneer.

Yu Mei was shocked, then felt a pain in her neck, and then she saw her headless corpse falling to the ground.

The red-clothed woman flicked the fresh blood off her Nepalese curved knife, put it away, then her body transformed. Within five seconds, she had taken on Yu Mei’s appearance, even matching her height and voice exactly.

"Jian Fan, let’s go," she said.

Seeing ’Yu Mei’ embracing his arm with such natural poise, a sense of superiority swelled within him. Unseen by Jian Fan, the red-clothed woman had attached a remote control bomb to his waist.

The red-clothed woman was a rare dual ability user, one who could usurp another’s body, and the other was to transform into mimics. She just needed to lick the target’s blood to completely take on their appearance, even changing her blood type to avoid detection. Leveraging this eerie ability, she had even successfully assassinated a third-order Conqueror while only at the second order.

The Cup Noodle Squad’s camping ground was in a civilian house, neighbouring the Warhammer Team’s, although the two seldom spoke to each other.

"Is there something you need?" Lin Chen and Zeng Fanghai were injured and without newbies to rely on, so the duties fell to Su Ameng, who had been irked for quite some time.

"Jian Fan just took on a big responsibility, explaining on behalf of ’Yu Mei.’"

"Hmph, trying to climb the social ladder? It’s the bedroom on your left, second one." After sizing up Yu Mei, Su Ameng waved her hand, letting them through. In her view, the two were harmless, and their excuse wasn’t one easily refused.

"Something the matter? Feel free to sit down." Su Han, swathed in bandages, lay on a bed reading a magazine. Upon seeing Jian Fan and his companion enter, he offered a smile. This approachable demeanor was precisely why he was popular among the lot.

Jian Fan repeated his reason for visiting, and said with a smile, "Brother Su, I hope you recuperate soon. Without you, our team’s pressure has increased greatly."

"Here, a gift for our meeting." Indifferent to Jian Fan’s flattery, Su Han pulled out two cans of food and tossed them over. Flattery was something Su Han could play at too. "What’s your sister’s name?"

"Thank you!" After expressing his gratitude, Jian Fan proceeded to chatter away, trying to leave a lasting impression on Su Han, hoping for more than just the two cans, which had already eased his worries.

"This is my sister’s picture, and it’s too stuffy in here—you should ventilate more." Acting like a little woman flustered at meeting someone important, Yu Mei took out a photo and handed it to Su Han with both hands. Then, eyeing the closed glass window beside the bed, she walked over to it.

"I haven’t seen your sister before." Su Han took the photo and shook his head, even he took a second glance at the picture of the beautiful woman in a bikini.

The window opened, and the temperature difference caused a draft to pour in, Jian Fan’s compliments still floating in the air. Everything seemed so peaceful, but for some unknown reason, a sudden tightness gripped at Su Han’s heart. Instinctively, he turned around only to see a skull hurtling towards him, striking him on his body.

Since they were both at the same level, the power to possess another’s body was greatly diminished, only managing to delay the other’s actions. However, for the red-clothed woman, now in close quarters as a fourth order, a fraction of a second was more than enough time to act.

The SS-level Nepalese curved knife traced a bright arc through the air, cutting through the shield that had just emerged around Su Han, and landed on his neck, severing his head.

Su Han’s ability was ill-suited for close combat, which was the reason for his disadvantage.

"You?" Jian Fan was stunned, seeing a head rolling to his feet, copious amounts of blood spurting from the neck stump. He almost burst a blood vessel in shock, but before he could utter a word, he found he couldn’t speak.

The red-clothed woman touched Jian Fan, controlling his body, and made him bend down to pick up the head, then ’Yu Mei’ squatted on the ground and screamed loudly.

Su Ameng arrived instantly upon hearing the commotion and saw Jian Fan holding a head and jumping out of the window.

In her rage and loss of composure at Su Han’s death, Su Ameng charged after Jian Fan without thinking, bent on vengeance.

"Everything went smoothly." The red-clothed woman cut off Su Han’s right arm, took the space wristwatch, and fled swiftly.

"What’s going on?" Lin Chen and Zeng Fanghai burst from their room to see the flustered red-clothed woman running down the corridor.

"There’s been a murder! That girl went after the killer," she said with an impeccable expression of shock, sure to win an Oscar. The two already scatterbrained men entered the room in total disarray.

"A bunch of idiots." The red-clothed woman fled with all her might, beyond the reach of these people, and having already planned her escape route, she vanished into the densely built residential area within thirty seconds.

"It wasn’t me, I didn’t do anything, I didn’t kill anyone." Jian Fan was dumbstruck, looking at the furious Su Ameng and arguing loudly in his defense.

"If it wasn’t you, then who?" Su Ameng punched Jian Fan in the face and then grew pensive. How could such a weakling kill the group leader?

"It really wasn’t me!" Jian Fan’s nose bled profusely as he cried, "It was Yu Mei who did it; she must’ve gone crazy."

His disjointed explanation failed to convince Su Ameng, and her improvisation skills were terribly lacking.

"Go catch Yu Mei!" Tang Zheng burst out and roared! (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it at Qidian.)
