Chapter 321: Cloning v2

As the ability activated, Xiang Yu felt his body suddenly go numb.

It felt as though he’d just lost half his lifespan.

He concentrated inward and observed his blood, he had lost a large amount of bloodline essence, almost causing his bloodline to regress to the noble blood stage. He gritted his teeth as the rest of the process continued.

"I expected the cost to be quite large," he thought to himself, "but I hadn’t expected it to be this much."

With this level of drain, there was no way he could spam create clones.

Other than the steep cost, the rest of the process went smoothly. Before him stood a perfect replica of himself, moving its arms around to test out the body’s functionality. Xiang Yu thought that the price for bloodline essence condensing was really steep. If a normal person attempted this, they probably would only be able to make just one or two noble bloods in their lifetime.

Lower level essences were much easier to condense though, it was probably possible to spam create on the thin and common blood levels.

Still, Xiang Yu didn’t think much of the limitations as the bloodlines continued fighting even more fiercely inside him. With this, he should be able to recover his bloodline essence in just a day or two, after which he could form another clone.

He turned his attention to his clone, which had just now finished its core formation process. This clone, with its noble blood and twenty-seventh layer of body refining, should just about barely be able to contend with a Void Realm cultivator.

Although it seemed kinda weak compared to Xiang Yu who had been able to reach the physical strength of a Void Realm cultivator with just twenty-fourth layer body refining and the same noble blood stage, one had to note that he still had huge boosts in physical strength from the Chaos and the Transcended Dao Body.

The clone was not to be underestimated thought, with its other abilities from the bloodlines like increased defense and regeneration, combined with its core, meaning it could handle qi as well as regenerate it, the clone was indeed a strong contender in the first to second layer of the Void Traversing Realm.

And if he accounted for the fire domain provided by the phoenix bloodline, the clone should be able to contend with anyone at the early stages of the Void Traversing Realm. And if it encountered a really bad situation, it could release a void domain from the soul partition inside the clone body. With that, Xiang Yu estimated it would be able to contend with even mid-stage Void Traversing Realm cultivators.

Still, he preferred not to resort to this as it would drain the soul partition quickly and might lead to the clone’s death. He really hoped it wouldn’t come to this as he wanted to use the clone mainly for collecting treasures and bringing them back home, not for getting into fights.

...

The new clone Xiang Yu walked around to test out his body.

After a few exercises, he could confirm that everything was working fine. He raised his palm and was able to summon qi, then tried absorbing qi through his skin and succeeded. It seemed the core was also working perfectly.

It was now time to prepare to go out.

He didn’t have much to prepare really, just a few things that the Xiang Yu had already done through the other clones. He didn’t waste time preparing all sorts of talismans as he wasn’t going to battle.

Instead, he had spent most of the time trying to fix up the demon sealing tower to a reasonable condition. He didn’t want to spend many resources on this as he wanted to use them on the weapon so he didn’t fix it fully.

The reason he was fixing the tower was so it could handle him drawing a rune onto it. It wasn’t some sort of overpowered attacking rune, just a heavenly grade teleportation rune (more like a homing rune tbh).

There were two runes: one on the treasure, and the other on a disc that he would keep back at the base. This would be used as a last safety mechanism.

If the clone managed to collect all sorts of treasures but encountered danger, Xiang Yu would be able to instantly activate the rune from his end and teleport the tower with all the treasures to his position.

He went with this method because if he faced a really powerful enemy, he might not necessarily be able to activate the rune through the clone without the enemy stopping him. But with this, he could keep his goods safe. As for the clone itself, well, he could make another one in a day or two.

...

Guo Zhengming was lying peacefully on the dirt.

He’d been lying there the whole night, so still that one might’ve thought he had died.

He was sleeping peacefully, until he began hearing the sounds of birds chirping as well as voices of people moving around the sect.

He slowly opened his eyes, wondering where he was. He could feel the high concentration of spiritual energy in the area which made him wonder if he was in heaven. He quickly dismissed the thought as he remembered the events from the day before. He remembered being picked up by Li Yao and they seemed to have been followed. He didn’t remember much after that. How did he end up in this place? And where was the girl?

As he was thinking of this, he noticed people approaching. They seemed to be from a cultivation sect based on the uniform they wore. He looked at himself and sighed. He looked like a homeless guy lying around other people’s sect, he wondered if they were coming to tell him to leave.

As he was thinking of this, the disciples greeted him with a small bow. "Greetings senior!" they said in unison before continuing on their way, talking among themselves.

He looked around in confusion, wondering if he had grown so old. Had cultivators developed manners and could even respect an old man nowadays, especially given he wasn’t even showing his cultivation?

As he was pondering this strange behavior, he heard someone drop something. He turned to look, and his eyes met the shocked man before him.

"Y-yo-you are, Guo Zhengming?" the man spoke, his mouth wide open in disbelief.

Guo Zhengming was also frozen in shock. "Feng Wuying?"
