Chapter 292: Enemy Attack

Xiang Yu looked around frantically, his eyes darting from corner to corner as he scanned for any sign of the demon god.

Suddenly, his precognition ability activated.

Seeing the immediate future, Xiang Yu quickly reacted by sending out a blow. The next instant, his fist collided with that of the demon god who had materialized exactly where his future sight had predicted.

The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the air around them. The two contested for dominance for sometime but Xiang Yu eventually lost out in physical strength and was thrown backward through the air, his body tumbling uncontrollably until he managed to stabilize himself with considerable effort.

As he regained his balance, he carefully observed his fist. The skin was slightly reddened from the impact, but otherwise undamaged. He thought to himself that his current physical strength was probably around the half-step void traversing level. Based on his calculations, if he could break through two more times in body refining cultivation and advance his bloodline to noble blood, he should theoretically be able to reach the combat level of an entry-level void realm cultivator.

On the other side, the demon god wore a serious expression.

“Five seconds,” he thought to himself. That was quite an impressive amount of precognitive ability for someone from such a backward world.

But he quickly dismissed his initial concerns. Although he was still recovering from his injuries and his power level had regressed significantly from his peak, he should be able to easily match five seconds of future sight through superior speed and combat experience, essentially cancelling it out.

And from what he could sense from their earlier clash, Xiang Yu didn’t seem to have entered the void traversing realm yet.

The only thing that genuinely worried him was that mysterious ability Xiang Yu had used to completely destroy his initial qi attack. “It looks like some sort of void-type domain ability. Is it possible for someone from such a low-level world to learn such a thing?” he wondered. “And to use it with such mastery…”

He guessed he was probably the one who upgraded all the formations around the sect as well.

“Well, I’ll figure out all your secrets once I dissect you,” he thought with an evil smile. Causing Xiang Yu to feel slightly uneasy. “What’s up with him?” he wondered.

Below them, scattered throughout the sect grounds, people were looking up at the aerial battle in confusion.

“What was that loud noise?” one disciple asked nervously.

“Is there an enemy?” another wondered aloud.

“Are you stupid? How could there be an enemy when the Grand Elder has set up defensive formations all over the sect?” a third disciple scoffed at the suggestion.

“Open your dog eyes! Can’t you see the enemy floating up there?” someone shouted back angrily.

“I see someone. Who’s that other person?”

“Ah, it’s the Grand Elder! The Grand Elder is finally going to show his true power and teach the enemy a lesson!” an excited disciple declared.

The disciples throughout the sect were getting increasingly excited as they realized they were finally going to witness the Grand Elder’s true power. It is speculated among disciples that the Grand Elder is insanely strong, not even the talented Sect Master is his match. They wondered if they were finally going to see it.

On the other side, Elder Huang was being restrained by Elder Guo, her body trembling in panic. She could sense that the enemy wasn’t someone to be taken lightly, and she was really worried for Xiang Yu’s safety.

“Calm down, Xiang Yu will be fine,” Elder Guo tried to comfort her, though he also wasn’t convinced himself. “There’s no way he would come out to meet such a dangerous enemy if he wasn’t completely confident he could win.”

Though he spoke reassuring words, Elder Guo was also deeply worried. “Disciple…” he thought anxiously as he watched the confrontation high above them.

As he was lost in these troubling thoughts, he suddenly heard someone walking up behind them. “Master, martial aunt,” a voice called out.

“Wait, that voice…” both elders turned around simultaneously, their eyes widening in shock as they came face to face with Xiang Yu standing calmly before them.

“Disciple? How are you…” Elder Guo stammered in confusion as he looked up at the Xiang Yu floating above, then back at the Xiang Yu standing on the ground before them.

“I’ll explain later,” Xiang Yu said calmly. “Follow me. I need your help with something,” he added, gesturing for them to follow him.

The two elders looked at each other with bewildered expressions before following behind him without further questions.

Li Yao took another bite out of the heavenly grade spirit food and continued circulating her qi. As she did this, she could feel her bloodline being upgraded by the empress. She had already moved from half blood to true blood level and was on her way to high blood.

As the bloodline was upgraded, she also felt her enlightenment grow. It wasn’t a sudden increase but it was steadily increasing. As long as she kept this up, she should be able to upgrade her enlightenment to the immortal level.

As for her cultivation, it was coming along great. Throughout the few hours she’d been cultivating, she had broken through a few minor realms, advancing from fourth layer nascent soul realm to the seventh layer, entering the late stages. Now all that was left was three more layers and she could start her breakthrough to the Soul Formation realm.

The eighth and ninth layers didn’t concern her much as they were going to be a breeze. The problem would be in the tenth layer. For a good foundation, she always went for the tenth layer even though it wasn’t necessary for a breakthrough to the next major realm. The tenth layer was much harder to breakthrough to and required much more resources than the previous layers.

She glanced at the spirit food left and wondered if it would be enough for building a solid foundation for someone like her. Well, considering it was all heavenly grade, it probably was, she thought.

She didn’t need to spare any spirit food for after she broke through as she was able to absorb the tribulation lightning to refill her energy instead.
