Chapter 291: How Much Can You Actually See

The demon god raised his fist before his eyes, clenching and unclenching it to feel his newly recovered power.

Satisfied with his physical condition, he lifted his gaze upward toward the ceiling of the tower. A smile spread across his face as he pulled back his fist. He then punched upward with all his power.

The impact was devastating. His fist blasted a massive hole straight through the roof of the tower, sending chunks of stone and everything else the roof was made off through the air. The loud sound echoed across the entire sect, causing everyone to immediately stop what they were doing and come out to see.

The demon god then floated upward through the newly created opening. Stopping high above the sect as he surveyed his prey with the calculating gaze.

Looking down upon the modest Azure Cloud Sword Sect spread out below him, he extended his divine sense to probe the cultivation levels of everyone within the compound. His divine sense swept through the buildings and training grounds, cataloging the strength of each person he encountered. What he found filled him with barely concealed contempt.

The strongest cultivators he could detect were merely at the Golden Core level. There wasn’t even a single Nascent Soul expert among them, let alone anyone who could pose a genuine threat to him. He didn’t bother to hide his disapproval as his expression twisted with disdain.

He wondered why his master had been so concerned about such a small-time sect. From his perspective, this place was utterly insignificant - just a bunch of weaklings playing house.

He didn’t even need much effort to wipe out the entire thing.

Well, he didn’t really care about the underlying reasons. It was his master’s orders and his job was simply to execute it.

According to his master, destroying this sect would trigger a series of events that would ultimately lead to the destruction of this world and many others. This would in turn trigger a heavenly dao calamity that could mark the end of an era.

"Sounds like fun," he said with a smile, his voice filled with anticipation.

He pointed his hand toward the sect below.

Immediately, red energy began gathering around his palm. The red energy swirled and condensed, forming a concentrated sphere of pure energy that caused even the air around his hand to warp and distort from the sheer intensity.

"Begone," he declared casually, releasing the attack toward the unsuspecting sect below.

Although the sphere of red energy appeared deceptively small as it fell through the air, it was filled with such concentrated destructive power that it would easily obliterate everything within a radius of several miles.

As the concentrated energy ball plummeted toward its target, ready to erase the Azure Cloud Sect from existence, someone suddenly materialized directly in its path. This sudden appearance shocked the demon god slightly as he hadn’t sensed anyone with enough cultivation to move that fast within the sect.

Without hesitation, Xiang Yu stretched out his hand toward the incoming energy ball. A sphere of absolute darkness appeared on his palm, and in the next instant, it completely consumed the red energy ball.

The attack that should have devastated the entire region simply vanished.

The demon god’s shock deepened when he witnessed this. Even though he hadn’t used his full strength, it was still surprising that someone could neutralize it so effortlessly, especially in such a supposedly insignificant sect.

He tried to probe Xiang Yu’s cultivation level using his divine sense, but he couldn’t sense anything at all. Xiang Yu had no qi or presence whatsoever, if he wasn’t actively looking at him, it was as if he didn’t exist.

His initial shock gradually transformed into a menacing smile.

"It seems things have gotten much more interesting," he thought, cracking his neck casually.

Below, Xiang Yu’s gaze remained fixed on the demon god as he read the enemy’s stats on his system screen. The stats were quite something, but not entirely unexpected. He thought to himself that he’d always known this day would eventually come - he just hadn’t expected it to arrive today.

He was cultivating when he suddenly heard the loud explosion. Since his divine sense was always actively covering the entire sect grounds, he immediately identified the source of trouble as the demon sealing tower. In the next moment, he sensed the emergence of a Void Traversing cultivator and quickly emerged from the spirit vein.

He slowly began rising through the air to meet the demon god. As he did this, he thought to himself that he didn’t even have time to run a battle simulation and was going in blind. He really hoped his combat strength had grown enough after the recent breakthrough.

Although he could technically run a quick simulation since they only lasted a second in real time, he didn’t want to give even that brief advantage to a Void realm cultivator. Besides, even if he couldn’t win in the simulation, then what? Would he just give up?

Xiang Yu now stood directly facing his enemy, both floating high in the air.

"So you are the so-called demon god. Why are you targeting my sect?" Xiang Yu spoke calmly, trying to gauge his opponent.

The demon god’s smile widened. "It’s nothing personal," he said as he vanished from his position.

"Just business," both the demon god and Xiang Yu said simultaneously as Xiang Yu spun around to face the demon god who appeared directly behind him in an instant. He blocked the surprise attack with both arms crossed defensively, though the tremendous force still pushed him back several meters.

"Your battle instinct is quite impressive," the demon god observed. "You can even see into the future," he added.

"This is getting more and more interesting," he declared as he disappeared from his position once again.

"How far can you really see?" his voice resonated throughout the area, coming from everywhere and nowhere at once.

...

Author’s Corner:

The system doesn’t hide Xiang Yu’s presence, just his cultivation. Still, he can hide his presence by somewhat merging with the void around him. (not really around him but within him) that’s why the demon god says it’s like he doesn’t exist unless you’re actively looking at him. Meaning he only sees him through his eyes and not his divine sense which is quite a limitation.

"Those sharingan... how much can you actually see?"
