"Leng Yixing, if you can’t bring him back, don’t bother returning! The earthquake-stricken area from early morning, right? Send me your location once you arrive."

After hanging up the phone, Gu Chen paced anxiously around his office. Suddenly, remembering that his studio needed to send someone to the disaster area, he called for Secretary Ding over the intercom.

Before long, a voice came from outside the door—it was Secretary Ding.

"Zhuang Shuqing, are you looking for President Gu?"

"What’s wrong with you? You look terribly pale."

Seeing the determination in Zhuang Shuqing’s eyes, Gu Chen relented, gesturing for her to enter the office before saying to Secretary Ding: "Go ahead with your work."

"Understood."

As Secretary Ding turned away, she threw a puzzled glance at Zhuang Shuqing but only for an instant; she quickly averted her gaze and left.

In the general manager’s office, Gu Chen handed Zhuang Shuqing a glass of water. "Sister-in-law, have some water first."

Zhuang Shuqing slowly took it, but didn’t drink. She looked up at him, "President Gu, was what you just said true?"

Gu Chen pulled up a chair and sat opposite her, "Yes, it’s true. An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 struck Wu City yesterday early morning, and aftershocks are ongoing."

"No, not that." She had seen that news yesterday. Although she had thought about going to cover the disaster area, the studio had not made arrangements, so it was not her place to decide on her own.

"President Gu, please tell me the truth. Did Lu Jinyang go to the disaster area? And... is he missing?"

She asked the last few words cautiously.

Gu Chen looked at her and, after what seemed an eternity, he let out a long sigh, "Yes, Jinyang is missing in the disaster area."

"How is that possible!"

Zhuang Shuqing broke in sharply, "Leng Yixing just told me last night that he was on a secret mission. How could he be in the disaster area!"

"Sister-in-law!" Gu Chen’s complexion darkened, "As a soldier, regardless of what mission he is on, his purpose is to serve the people. He’s a soldier; he goes where he is needed, even if he was overseas last night, he could be in front of you by early morning."
