Chapter 95: The Other World (4)

Kamille frowned harder at the remark, probably thinking Rise was making fun of him. Or perhaps he was also thinking, Who was this dumb pervert?

Either way, Rise could not help but appreciate the top-tier appearance before him.

"Have you really gone silly?" Kamille snarled, his crimson pupils flickered in such a dangerous light. If it was another person, they might already be taken aback with fear, wanting to escape.

However, since this was Rise, his eyes only lit up further with interest. He grinned even more like an idiot.

"You’re stuck." Instead of answering Kamille, Rise pointed out the obvious with a playful tone.

For some reason, the S-rank Esper seemed stuck and... too weak to even move. Kamille paused, but the aggressive expression did not diminish.

Rise leaned a bit closer and looked down at Kamille, which only offended the other even more. His expression was dark and truly malicious, it was as if he was ready to tear Rise to pieces.

Rise could not help but gulp slightly, feeling pressured. The best course of action in this situation was not to agitate the other party more than he already did.

Of course, was Rise the type to choose the most rational and best choice?

Instead of doing that, Rise’s lips only lifted mischievously as he looked down at Kamille. "Guild Leader Han, do you need my help?"

Rise lowered his head slightly, the shadows outlined his features, giving him a subtle, eerie, yet fascinating appearance. His silver hair seemed to shine in the illumination of the two moons in the sky.

"But... You don’t look like one? You look more like..." Rise whispered with a smirk. "...you want to kill me."

His tone and expression were in extreme contrast to his words. And with this situation, it also did not appear that he was joking about it either.

Kamille blinked slightly; the ferocious light within his crimson pupils faded slightly and was replaced by a bit of intrigue. Despite himself being at a disadvantage, at least from how it looked like, Kamille’s demeanor had not softened once.

"You’re very aware," Kamille spoke slightly calmer than before.

At this, Rise could not help but laugh. His lips formed in a captivating arch.

"I have a good perception. I can see through any malice at a glance." He sounded rather proud of that.

Kamille scoffed. "You have some skills, even if you look stupid."

"Thank you~" He even dragged it out at the end, with such an annoying smile. What was he saying thank you for even?

For some reason though, Kamille only frowned but did not react strongly with his words. He stared at Rise as though looking at an odd specimen or something.

The two stared at each other with different expressions, but both were assessing one another. The silence stretched for a few seconds before Kamille sighed before his pupils suddenly shrank and began coughing heavily.

"You’re in such a dire state, Guild Leader Han."

Rise was already propping his chin in both hands, watching Kamille cough his chest out. He also did not look like someone who was ready to help. It was as if this was a rare spectacle that captivated him.

Kamille gritted his teeth, his jaw clenching tightly, appearing as though he was about to rampage.

"Do you want me to help, Guild Leader Han?" Rise finally offered, but his voice was playful and did not seem sincere.

Kamille glared at him.

Rise’s eyes flickered, but his voice dragged out once again. "What to do? Guild Leader Han looks like you don’t want my help~" His tongue rolled in such an unpleasant way.

Before Kamille could reply to that, he was once again in his coughing fit. Blood began to trickle down his mouth, and some of his wounds also became visible as he began to bleed.

Rise blinked, a bit startled. He was just joking earlier, but Kamille’s state seemed more critical than he thought. He did not move though and only watched.

"What happened to you, Guild Leader Han?" Rise asked out of curiosity; he did not appear worried at all, or at least in a normal situation he should be already calling someone who could help them.

"You look wrecked, extremely so." Rise finally roamed his eyes on Kamille’s body. As the other was lying on his stomach, he could not truly assess how bad it was, but as he was coughing blood, it should be serious enough to require immediate medical attention.

However, instead of focusing on that, Rise was more curious about one thing. His eyes even brightened because of this thought. "Guild Leader Han... Did you encounter something so dangerous? Was it a noble?"

Kamille Han was an S-rank Esper, and he was also not just an average S-rank either, at least in terms of combat capability, he should be on the forefront.

Someone who could threaten his life, Rise could not think of anyone other than a noble. An existence that extremely interests him. Too bad, he never met any yet.

Almost exasperated, Kamille lowered his gaze, and he seemed about to dismiss Rise if he could.

"Hey, why aren’t you answering?" Rise urged, and even escalated his impudence. He poked Kamille’s cheek and smiled. "Who defeated you?"

This time, Kamille’s crimson pupils seemed to grow darker; he snarled more fiercely. Rather than being offended by Rise’s touch, he appeared more affected by his final question.

"I wasn’t defeated!" Kamille almost ground his teeth in pieces, his head was throbbing, from pain or because of Rise, maybe both. "I killed them all."

"Oh?" Rise looked unconvinced. "Then why did you look like that?"

Kamille did not answer immediately, he only exhaled. A few seconds later, he growled. "What is it to you?"

Woah, he really has a bad temper.

Rise admitted he had a terrible personality, but he was not hiding it. And yet, Kamille Han looked serious and expressionless in public, and yet, this was his true self.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Kamille’s voice became deeper and more threatening.

Rise shrugged, "Maybe, I’m criticizing you?"

Kamille glared at him, but he also looked puzzled.

Rise laughed and then stood up; he dusted his pants, although he did not even sit on the ground.

"You..." Kamille clenched his teeth. "Why are you not helping me?"

"Maybe because you don’t look like someone who wanted help?"

"What?" Kamille exclaimed sharply before he almost coughed again because of his emotions. "You..."

Rise could see that the other was speechless because of anger. He maliciously chuckled.

"Say please, and I’ll help you." Rise smiled widely while making eye contact with those dangerous crimson pupils.

"Hah." Kamille breathed in disbelief. He narrowed his eyes slightly and finally looked more carefully at Rise. "Just be thankful I don’t find you annoying, and you want me to beg for your help?"

Kamille sounded and looked extremely offended by this.

Rise rolled his eyes. "What can you even do? You can’t even move." He wasn’t afraid of such Kamille, or even with the normal state of Kamille, for that matter.

Suddenly, Rise stepped back slightly. His heart skipped a beat. As he met those gazes, he had the impulse to truly bow his head or run as long as he had the chance to.

There was something in Kamille’s gaze; it was devoid of anything, but at the same time it also appeared to hold everything. It was quite confusing, but it only led to one thing.

It was as if even with such a situation, as long as he wanted to, he would be able to kill Rise with a flick of his fingers.

Extremely dangerous...

Rise muttered inwardly. He could not help but touch his chest. Was he feeling nervous right now? He, Rise, was feeling scared? In his years as an Esper... Rise had never felt that way, even when he first entered the dungeons and saw monsters that were bigger than himself. No, even before he manifested as one.

Even when encountering bizarre events, Rise could remain calm and excited.

Suddenly a chuckle escaped his mouth, and slowly it grew louder, Rise’s expression even appearing manic and also bright. There was even a faint flush on his cheeks.

This was Kamille’s turn to be surprised, even though the intensity of his gaze was mellow slightly.

"Have you gone truly crazy?"

Rise nodded his head at the question, laughing with such an odd expression. If anything, he looked like a blushing psycho.

"Amazing," he mumbled, and suddenly he approached Kamille again. "You make me feel nervous and scared. Seriously... Guild Leader Han. You’re so sexy for that!"

Rise’s flushed cheeks look animated, as though being scared and nervous was such a fascinating thing to celebrate.

For the first time in this conversation, Kamille seemed particularly speechless, not knowing what to say. Rise had not heard anything from him for a moment; he was only looking like Rise with a strange gaze. He did not even need to speak for Rise to understand his gaze.

"Guild Leader Han," Rise called; the smile on his face had not faded. However, his expression calmed down a bit. He curiously pointed out again. "Your eyes... It’s not so red anymore."

Kamille blinked, and sure enough, the crimson in his pupil had faded a bit, not such a threatening hue anymore.

Rise also could sense something different, at least. This Kamille was not glaring at him intensely that much.

Kamille sighed and buried his face in the ground; he looked so... embarrassed?

Wait, that wasn’t it. He looked tired.

"Guild Leader Han..." He poked him again, this time using his foot, totally disrespectful—something the Rise of today would not even do.

Kamille turned to him again; his crimson pupils had lightened considerably. And the way he looked at Rise also seemed a bit different, although the same pressure was maintained.

"You... Who are you?"

Rise tilted his head slightly. This Kamille’s tone also became calm?

Ah! He thought of something, and instead of answering the question, he blurted out his thoughts.

"Guild Leader Han, do you have... a split personality disorder?"
