Chapter 86: Gathering (2)
Chapter 86: Gathering (2)
This was the scene that Kianna and Oren were stumbled into when they arrived in their Guild Leader’s room, which had become their meeting point.
"Oh, you’re here." Unusually, it was Rise who first greeted them; both were a bit taken aback.
Rise always gave off this distant feeling to them, as though he was not interested in getting to know them. Their relationship was civil at best.
"Uh, hello." Kianna forced a smile; she admitted that Rise frightened her. This was not only from the rumors, but he always exuded an unapproachable vibe.
She also felt that Rise seemed to not like them much compared to how he treated Hayes or Adelline. So, being greeted first like this surprised her.
Oren also felt the same way, and even if he was a man of few words, he still managed to utter a short hello.
They sat across the three, looking so stiff for some reason. Probably because Rise’s gaze was still fixated on the both of them.
Rise smiled at them again, which only made the two more nervous.
"Now, just let the two of them be." Hayes finally helped the two, who were becoming awkward with Rise staring at them as soon as they entered the door.
Rise let out a chuckle and turned to Hayes. "I’m just staring, is it bad now?" Since he was in a good mood, he was rather laid-back with his words.
Hayes also noticed this point, gaining some courage to converse more "normally" with Rise.
"That’s the point. You’re staring so they became uncomfortable."
Oh, shit. Was that too much? Hayes began to reflect, but Rise appeared unbothered still.
"Are you uncomfortable?" He asked the two, direct as ever. He might not consider these two his long-term teammates, but as they were currently one, Rise was also accommodating of their presence.
And they were not bad.
Kianna bit her lips, her cheeks flushed after being stared at by Rise. She had to admit that Rise was truly handsome! For a face-con like her, Rise’s charms were enough to blind her much less stare at her!
Oren quickly shook his head. His expression looked unnatural, but Rise did not expose him.
Rise adjusted his turtleneck, which distracted Hayes for a moment. Their eyes met, and Rise winked at him, Hayes immediately averted his gaze.
He was enjoying teasing Hayes, someone who respected Kamille so much. It was as though thinking about Kamille’s private life seemed like a great sin or something.
"Don’t worry," Rise waved his hand to the two, and gave a sweet smile. "I’m pretty chill, I don’t bite."
"Pfft... s-sorry." Kianna almost laughed at that, but her face paled again, apologizing.
Rise did not make it hard for them. Getting along with him, especially with the kind of reputation he had, was actually not easy. It was not like everyone’s impression would change in a day or two.
He just let it be. "That’s fine. We’re all in a party now, though temporary. We have to get along well, alright?"
Though his tone sounded casual, there was something else in his gaze. He was smiling, but subconsciously, everyone in the room nodded, acknowledging him.
Without adding anything more, the group began to wait for Kamille.
Oh right, speaking of the Guild Leader. A meaningful smile again graced his lips. Hayes already stopped paying attention to it; otherwise, he might overthink again on what happened between the two!
They also did not wait for too long; the doors were opened from the outside as Kamille stepped inside. His eyes instinctively landed on Rise, who gave him a smile as usual.
Kamille slowly shifted his gaze and swept to the other members. They were also wearing formal dresses and suits. Rise was more covered, which was obviously because of the marks he gave him.
While thinking of this, Kamille already made his way to Rise, who immediately clung to his arm as though that was his destined place. Other gazes did not react much since they were becoming used to this.
However, Hayes was trying so hard not to think too much or look at it for long. Otherwise, his mind would go in a direction that was not appropriate to this kind of setting.
"Hayes," Kamille then called him. Hayes instinctively straightened as if afraid that his thoughts would be revealed before the Guild Leader.
Rise was the only one who noticed this; his smile widened when their eyes met, teasing the other. Hayes seemed frozen or stuck facing Kamille, making sure he would not be able to look at Rise!
Kamille’s brow shot up noticing this, but he did not pay it mind too much. It would not be too late to ask later. "You’ll come to me later; there’s another meeting before we enter the gate tomorrow."
Kamille had met the Union representatives earlier with the other Guild Leaders of the top guilds, so he left for a while.
Just as Hayes was about to answer, Rise beat him into it.
"Only the you and Hayes?" Rise inquired, his eyes focused on Kamille, waiting for an answer.
Whenever Kamille was around, everything seemed to be not important other than him.
Kamille paused for a moment; his hand now seemed habitually draped around Rise’s back, caressed in a comforting manner.
"It should be. But I can ask; it won’t be a big issue."
Rise only asked to hear this, since he did not really intend to come. If he could, then that was the best. But he was not too eager to attend.
He shook his head. "It’s fine. I just asked,"
Kamille naturally reached out when the few strands of Rise’s hair fell to his forehead. "Are you sure?"
Rise nodded, assuring him. "Really. It’s not necessary."
The other three in the room seemed oblivious to them; only Hayes, who was now crying inside, heard the two flirt with each other. It was better before when he was also oblivious; he really blamed himself for being nosy.
Confirming that Rise really did not care too much, Kamille finally looked at the others.
"Let’s go." In his command, everyone nodded and followed.
"Kamille!" A pleasant voice a woman called for Kamille again, and the group could not help but look over. An entourage of a woman was also arriving in front of the elevator.
In front was a gorgeous woman, wearing an elegant sea-blue mermaid gown. It fitted and especially emphasized her curves. Anyone would be mesmerized by such a look.
With their group, only Rise and Kamille who seemed unaffected when she finally approached them. Behind her were the members of her party, which was composed of women. They were also wearing lighter colors, their fair skin was prominent. Evergreen members were always known for their beauty, as if it were a requirement when entering the Guild.
Thalia waved at the others, her eyes falling almost instinctively to Rise, her eyes sparkling like jewels.
Kamille’s expression did not change, but his hand around Rise tightened, drawing him closer.
Rise glanced at it then at Kamille, before biting his lips to hold his laughter.
Thalia, oh, Thalia, you’re my fan indeed. You’re so helpful!
