Chapter 69: Blue Tower
Chapter 69: Blue Tower
As one of the top three great guilds, the Blue Tower Guild, or Blue, had a far bigger territory than the Dark Crimson. The yellow zone city not only occupied a huge land but also it was prosperous enough, not lacking behind from green zones, even surpassing some.
At the center of the city was a huge building, or a tower, far grander than any other guild. The guild boasted their position as the top guild, second only to Lilac Rose.
And the guild with the highest elemental ability, Espers, really embodied a fantastical vibe as the land for mages.
"Not that impressive," Rise scoffed, looking at the huge tower that could still be seen no matter how far they were.
A standard building, just like their headquarters, was still more efficient and practical. Who knew when the yellow zone would be invaded? All that money and effort would be for nothing.
Kamille heard him and instantly became amused.
The Blue Tower was already a landmark of humanity and had been standing for more than fifty years, if someone heard Rise downplaying it, he would probably be hated even more.
"Let’s go," Kamille led the group again inside a small inn.
The group did not descend right at the city but chose to be low-profile. In the whole federation, only Kamille was known that could really fly in the sky. While some wind ability Espers could do, it was unstable, and the altitude was incomparable to his.
If someone saw them flying and reported this incident, the Blue Tower would immediately be notified about this.
Between Guilds, there were also some formalities that should be followed, just like asking for an appointment or giving a heads-up if one sent a member, especially if it was a Guild Leader who was visiting.
However, that was for official business. Although, it was not polite, Kamille did not want to trouble anyone or more like to complicate things. They only planned to spend the night and would board a special aircraft by the morning.
"A room?" The woman at the reception, swept at the group and asked.
Rise, wearing a bucket hat, lifted his hat slightly and looked into the woman’s eyes.
"Yes, one room." He smiled. "Probably the best room."
He had never used a small inn or hotel before or checked in on his own, not knowing what to call it. Was it the same just as the normal hotel?
"Just one room?" She repeated.
Rise’s smile faded. "Are you deaf? What with one room you can’t understand?" Sometimes, he wanted to be gentle and kind, but these idiots were just testing his temper and patience for no rhyme reason.
"Uh," the woman flinched, about to say something, but Rise’s temper flared up even more.
"One room, the best room. For the three of us. Is that clear now?"
This was only a small hotel, so they did not undergo more background checks, and after passing their payment for one night, they soon arrived at the so-called best room.
Opening the light, the clean yet average room greeted them. Some necessities were already inside, a small kitchen, a living room, and one bedroom.
"Not bad for a small hotel," Rise grinned, looking at the Queen’s size bed.
One bed.
Not bad at all.
After inspecting the small room, Rise went back to the living room and sat across Riri on the couch. Kamille spoke on the phone, ordering room service.
"Do you eat food, Riri?" Leaning on the sofa and stretching his limbs, he asked casually.
"I... I’ll try," Riri stiffly replied after Kamille sat behind Rise, who instinctively leaned on him.
Riri was on the single sofa while the two, Kamille and Rise, occupied the long one, with the latter half lying on it.
Kamille draped his arm on the sofa, closing his eyes for a moment. They had been fighting for a week and only rested now. While they were lower-rank gates, the number was still considerable, accumulating their fatigue.
"Guild Leader?" Rise leaned his head on Kamille’s chest, pillowing on it.
Their position looked so intimate that Riri averted his gaze and could only huddle and embrace himself on the single sofa.
"Yes?" Not opening his eyes, motionless.
"Did someone notice us?"
"Probably."
Rise laughed. "Just probably?"
"Hmm. Just probably."
"What will you do if they notice us?"
"If they noticed us? I’ll greet them."
Rise amused, laughed for a while. It was so Kamille’s answer.
"They are an unreasonable bunch, though," Rise recalled his impression of them. "They have a superiority complex."
Needless to say, they repel outsiders, especially other guilds. Perhaps only Lilac Rose members they could be seen as rivals.
"Are you reasonable?"
Rise turned to the side and soon changed position, giggling as he did so, propping his chin on Kamille’s chest. Kamille’s arm, which was draped at the sofa’s chest, reached out and snaked around Rise’s waist.
"I’m more unreasonable," he admitted, not ashamed of it. "Do you hate it, Guild Leader?"
Kamille finally opened his eyes but only glanced at him, not moving in his position, his head still leaning on the sofa.
Their faces were close but not too close, enough for their breaths to get entangled.
Just as Kamille was about to answer, this flirting session was cut short by the knock on the door. Both froze, and varied expressions went past their faces.
The knock on the door came in again. Rise glared at the door, almost shattering it with his gaze alone. He sat up, and Kamille stood up and answered the door.
Just as they expected, it was their food.
Rise was still annoyed, but the food’s aroma eased it a bit. He could not afford to really waste any food, and the annoyance was set aside.
"Riri, let’s eat!" Rise began preparing the dishes, the three only decided to eat in the living room. Kamille was also hungry and did not care about it.
"This is how to use it," Rise showed how to use the spoon and spork for Riri to mimic.
Riri obediently observed and then soon practiced it himself, he was clumsy at first but gradually got accustomed to it.
When he finally tasted the dishes, Riri’s eyes sparked.
Somehow, Rise and Kamille’s lips subconsciously lifted.
"How is it?"
Riri could not answer; his thoughts were preoccupied by the food and the taste in his mouth. He repeatedly nodded, not saying any word, mesmerized by the human food, tasting for the first time.
"Slow down," Kamille reminded, his voice deep but soft.
Riri instantly paused, his action slowed down considerably. At this, Kamille nodded, satisfied.
"You’ll choke if you eat too fast." Kamille put some more dish, which Riri obediently ate, choosing what Kamille put on his plate first.
Rise to the side, watching them with a smile on his lips.
It was weird, but his heart really felt so calm and content for some reason.
Maybe because this was his first time seeing Kamille with a kid, being so gentle. Rise then chimed in, putting more dishes on Riri’s plate.
For a while, the three only ate harmoniously.
