Chapter 60: Unrecorded (6)
Chapter 60: Unrecorded (6)
Rise also did not try to conceal most of his intentions, which was evident in his open interest. Kamille also knew this point, which made the whole situation more fascinating.
Nodding slightly, as though understanding the situation, Rise turned to the wild Espers. The pressure on them did not diminish but only abated slightly.
"Do you all know that stealing is a crime?" Rise reprimanded, although it sounded absurd.
Yes, stealing was a crime, but inside the gate, it was common. Most of all, this was coming from Rise, who for everyone around had the least credibility when talking about the law.
Even Kamille suddenly glanced at Rise. Everyone was just speechless, especially as he shamelessly went on.
"These mana stones ownership naturally fell to the one who discovered them. That’s the rule, am I right? Tsk, tsk, you wild espers, never follow the rules!"
It was wild to hear these from the person who would most likely not follow the rules.
Each of their eyelids twitched. Rise made sense, alright? He was telling the truth. However, no one could take his words seriously at all.
If only they could refute, if only.
Seeing no one disagreed, Rise hugged Kamille’s arm tightly, openly displaying his affection as he smiled gently. In this position, everyone thought something was wrong, but because of the nervousness and pressure, no one could delve into what it was exactly.
"Then, these mana stones are owned by this lady’s guild, correct?" This was right. He then turned to his Guild Leader amusedly watching his yet again one-man show. "Is this judgment correct, Guild Leader?"
He sounded so coy, and not the same arrogant Rise who everyone wanted to punch for once.
Kamille’s Adam’s apple moved as he swallowed the chuckle that was threatening to come out of his throat.
He agreed, composing his expression. "Correct."
Rise, as if praised, became proud. "My Guild Leader agreed." He emphasized the word ’My’ as though everyone needed to know this fact.
His voice slightly changed, becoming serious, even with the sweet smile lingering on his lips. "Is everyone’s thought the same?"
The threat was evident. As Kamille also agreed, it meant Rise would never let his credibility be damaged even over something like this.
Collectively swallowing their saliva, everyone simultaneously nodded their heads. Only idiots would refuse! Also, they could not fake either.
Rise’s lunacy was known to all, who knew what would happen to them if they also went back to their words and someone snitched on this villain?
Satisfied with being a mediator, he smiled to Zhan. "Those mana stones are yours."
Zhan was about to say thank you or something, but Rise already turned to Kamille, not bothering to hear. Between them, there was no need for any gratitude.
Rise, while these comrades did not know him, the memories with them were fresh in his mind. For him, they would eventually come together in the future.
Again, no matter how he hated the word, such was their fate.
For others, it only came off as though Rise did not bother about this incident too much. And for some reason, he got interested in it in passing so naturally that he was not concerned about any word of gratitude.
For Rise, it might be just a short episode, something he would never even remember after a few days.
The wild Espers could only grumble at how unlucky they were to encounter Rise and his silly whims. They only glared at the guild members before they left, carrying the corpse of the man Zhan killed.
Zhan stared at Rise’s back, her gaze filled with gratitude. This might be a short episode for Rise, but for her, this incident was enough to change her life.
She hoped... Someday, she would be able to return this favor.
Continuing to their leisure walk, Rise suddenly spoke. "What do you think of her, Guild Leader?"
"Promising," Even without mentioning it, Kamille knew who they were talking about.
Rise laughed, looking up, and asked, "Just promising?"
Kamille thought for a moment, and he met Rise’s gaze.
"Want me to recruit her?"
Unsurprisingly, Rise shook his head. He leaned closer and subtly hint: "We don’t need to."
Kamille understood. She would come by herself.
With these two, this tacit understanding only grew.
Over an hour later, the two finally arrived at the exit. After two days, their first gate was completed.
Rise only found out that they spent a whole two days inside the gate, which only gave him the impression of a few hours since most of it was spent underwater and sleeping.
So they indeed spent more than a day swimming underwater! No wonder both of them were exhausted. Fighting was still different than a boring swim.
"If I had known, I would have made that flesh burn more of its lifespan!"
This was all that flesh doing, being difficult, and they did not even have any huge rewards other than useless blood.
Kamille and Rise left the gate swiftly and did not linger more, not letting the reporters question them. The Union, or the government, was as curious as everyone.
For a period of time, this gate would become famous until the flesh spent its remaining vitality. As, Kamille, an S-rank Esper with Rise, visited, everyone was curious... What did they come here for? And did they get it?
Unfortunately, the Dark Crimson Guild was tight-lipped through all this.
A day of break before they go to the second gate.
Kamille stood by the window, looking below. His expression was calm but had a natural air that deterred those around him to approach him. His thoughts spun, thinking of what happened just yesterday.
"Unrecorded..." Kamille mumbled, his gaze deep and piercing towards the unknown.
Gradually, the beautiful hazel pupils turned gray. The scenery then underwent a tremendous change in his eyes.
For as long as he could remember, this ability had always been with him. At first, Kamille often had headaches and he needed to rest his eyes for a period of time after using it.
As he grew older and managed to master this ability, Kamille was able to actively use it all the time. The times when it was off were even becoming shorter and shorter.
With Rise’s arrival, this ability also was put to rest most of the time that he was with him.
Rise...
In his gaze, everything seemed to have labels, exploring more would reveal more information. It was exhausting sometimes, having to look at everything from a higher perspective, giving off the impression of being omniscient.
The information he saw when he looked at that flesh flashed through his mind.
[A flesh of a lost being from a chaotic timeline]
[Unrecorded.]
The moment that he saw the last word, Kamille quickly did not explore further. If he wanted to, he could. True Sight was able to scrutinize its identity through its essence and soul.
The reason he stopped...
Kamille saw the same word when he met Rise for the first time in that red zone.
His gaze grew deep and he recalled what he saw that day, which surprised him greatly.
[Rise Lee]
[Unrecorded]
In his dull and predictable world, a variable arrived, and Kamille could not help but cherish it.
