Chapter 42: Monitor

Would he do something this time? After thinking about it, he decided not to change history too much. Rise’s goal was to ruin the plot, and for those not related to it, he might as well let things flow like their original course.

Rise was well aware of his delicate position, so minimizing the changes during this time was an advantage he had to firmly grasp in his hand.

Still, it was not his intervention if Mira herself caught Kamille’s sight earlier, right? Rise chuckled inside.

He then continued talking with the girls while eating.

"Talking with the girls?" Kamille repeated calmly.

His tone was in contrast with what he said, devoid of the natural curiosity of anyone who likes to gossip, really just simply repeating the words reported to him.

Standing beside him, a man with a gloomy appearance, his figure almost could not be seen as if he was about to be in one with the darkness. It did not help that he was also wearing black, not showing any skin except his eyes.

If Rise were here, his playful smile would also become evident on his lips. Of course, he recognized who it was. Someone he also bullied a lot in the past.

Technically, he was not called like that; Rise was the only one who called him that. Rise had already calculated his presence, which he also experienced when he decided to pursue Kamille and join the guild then.

Eubin was really a good scout or spy, even as an assassin. However, Rise was his bane. "Hmmm..." Kamille rested his chin on his arm as he played with a pen, swinging it on his fingers skillfully.

"C-rank Espers..."

Kamille could recognize them, but not as deep. Although he was a guild leader, it would be unrealistic of him to be familiar with everyone. Especially so for those Espers who were not always qualified to even meet him.

That left with one thing. Rise had noticed or seen something different with them or one of them.

He stared at the two pictures but did not intend to quickly take action. Whatever was special about them, it only made him interested but not too important to warrant any urgent action.

After a few seconds of silence, Kamille leaned on his chair comfortably and closed his eyes. Without looking at his side, he spoke and said his order.

"Continue monitoring him."

Eubin, who really looked like a shadow at the side, did not speak or leave immediately, as if to know it was not finished yet.

Sure enough, Kamille ordered again.

"But don’t get too close to him, and don’t disturb him."

This order not only showed how he did not intend to strictly monitor Rise, it also made Eubin understand that he could only do basic monitoring. And Kamille’s suspicions of him were present but not too deep.

This was a different approach than in the past. It seemed, Rise’s plan was really going in the right direction. If he had known, he would definitely be overjoyed, deep kissing Kamille on the spot.

It was a pity that he had not known, and now, he was already taking a public taxi somewhere. Rise did not bother Mira too much, so after eating, he immediately said goodbye.

Most of the people were curious, but seeing Rise seemed really just want to talk with them, everyone dispersed afterward.

No one was even envious, and they did not think the two girls were lucky either. Rise’s reputation had come to the point that it was hopeless beyond repair.

Rise lazily watched the scenery as they passed by. There really was not anything that interesting, but somehow, they still appeared novel and captivating, especially for those who lived in the peaceful green zones.

Yellow zones had the charm of both tranquility and a chaotic atmosphere at the same time. The people did not linger for too long outside, and thus it created a disciplined and calm impression.

And as the car ventured far from the guild, the houses gradually looked dilapidated, and the roads were not as well maintained as the main road. Rise did not bat an eyelid as the car became unstable, almost shaking him.

Soon, the car stopped. And the driver turned and looked at him. He scratched his head as if apologetic, but his eyes and expression did not appear to be so.

"I’m sorry, this is as far as I can get. My car won’t be able to advance from here on."

Rise barely paid attention to him and also did not respond. Without saying anything, he paid his fare and left the car. And it also did not take long as the car left, afraid to even stay for a while longer.
