Chapter 39: Gate Escapades

Rise gave him a playful smile and waited, as if to say with his gaze, What’s your answer?

For the first time since they had known each other for a few days, Kamille let out a low chuckle. It sounded as though speechless, but most of all... interested?

Right. Kamille thought just how interesting Rise was. It seemed his life from here on would become more exciting than he imagined.

He nodded calmly and agreed.

"It’s fine for me."

Rise’s eyes instantly lit up, and he laughed. If he had not held back himself, he might have already jumped and claimed those red lips again, given how excited he was.

Gosh, how sexy Kamille’s laugh was!

"Really? That’s a deal then!" Rise had always felt his plan was going too smoothly!

Although, he never thought deeply about it or ignored its significance since Kamille had always been indulgent to him before.

Rise then produced another chip; it could be said, he was rather prepared for it. Since it was only a memory chip, any random information was stored.

Some of it also might not be important for Kamille. And so, using Kamille’s computer, Rise filtered what was inside. He also did not forget to add something else.

Most of the knowledge in the future might not be suitable to tell Kamille as a whole, but some things which could be said simple on the surface, and if it was related to the Union, Rise thought it was safe to include them.

He did not want to act like a prophet or something that would include any future events without any evidence. Kamille was not dumb and would believe everything that Rise said.

They might seem to have a good relationship, but for Kamille, it was not as deep compared to him. Rise was certain, Kamille would still find someone to confirm what he included in the file.

Rise also did not include extremely confidential information, he wanted to, but he did not want to make Kamille wary of him instead.

A subordinate who could easily sell his former affiliation, would not be favorable anywhere, no matter how useful he was. Rise was still aware of that. He would not risk it.

So, Rise only included the information in the direction or scope of "I only know a bit."

After he was done, he smiled and presented the files to Kamille. The latter only scanned him, not reading deeply yet.

"You won’t forget our deal, right?" Rise asked, in a sing-song manner.

"I abide by my promise." Kamille was really like that.

His principles were as such, not leaving any mission or deal unfinished.

Rise was really not worried about it. He smiled, and finally, even if he was unwilling, he excused himself. Kamille still had something to do, and Rise could not always be by his side.

He could if he wanted to be truly shameless, and he doubted Kamille would also voice out any annoyance either. However, it might be detrimental to his plan.

No hurry, with the deal done, Rise would be with Kamille for a few weeks alone!

Thinking of this, the unwillingness disappeared.

After saying goodbye, Rise left the room.

Kamille, who was looking at the file, raised his head and stared at the closed door.

The office was plunged with silence once more. He stared at it for a few minutes. Soon, his gaze returned to his monitor, reading the information.

The contents of the file were not ordinary but not too confidential either.

Kamille’s pointed finger slowly tapped at the desk, making the only sound in the room. He fell into deep thought and rested his chin on his hand, reading the document.

Soon, the corners of his lips lifted.

"Truly... interesting."

Rise might be the only one where Kamille had not bothered to turn on his True Sight. For some reason, the mystery surrounding Rise, he wanted to uncover them by himself slowly.

Otherwise... It would not be that exciting anymore.

When Rise left the office, he thought of where to go, but most of them were unavailable, and if he wanted to go there, he needed a guide since he was not supposed to be familiar with the Guild Headquarters yet.

Leaving was also out of the question. Although he had not seen it yet, he had the feeling that the entrance of the building was full of reporters. The news of him joining the guild might already spread, and it would not be surprising for those vultures to be interested in it.

He did not have time to play with them, and so the last option was the rooftop. This building naturally also had it. However, as the building was located in the yellow zone, few risked climbing or resting there.

The reason was, of course, the flying monsters.

For Rise, though, it was hardly a concern.

Sitting on the familiar rooftop, he sat at the top of the railings. The scene of the city below was visible in his eyes. The scenery was different compared to the one in the Union headquarters.

It was still a lively city but no towering buildings, and the people were not as active outside. The roads were not congested with cars either, and there was no traffic.

Rise closed his eyes and exhaled heavily, taking in the air of the yellow zone. Slowly he smiled and laughed, his hair danced with the wind.

"The smell of pollution... really disgusting." Even though he said, his smile did not leave his lips for a long time.

The air was not really fresh, tainted by the corruption of the gates; the mana in the air was invasive. However, the environment paints the realistic side of the world now, not the peaceful and clean green zones.

Rise stayed on the rooftop; his forcefield was on. The occasional flying monsters who passed by hesitated as they changed course.

He fell silent and remembered his deal with Kamille.

[In these few weeks, let’s do gate raids. Just the two of us.]

Rise wanted to try his luck. And he succeeded.

He did not want to accommodate others; Rise only wanted to be alone with Kamille. He thought that in this way... Their relationship would progress faster.

Also, without others’ presence, under the guise of the guiding session... Rise could do a lot of things.

A lot of things...

Rise could not help but laugh, looking forward to it.
