Chapter 30: Guide You Again

Chapter 30: Guide You Again

As it turned out, Rise offered something that the Director would not easily refuse. A chip detailing some of his collections, in other words, a collection of dirt that could be used against them if it got out.

Rise wasn’t one to sell this trash either; for him, it was just a hobby. He often got bored, and he only did this to entertain himself. The dirt varies, from mistresses to corruption and a lot of things that could change the administration of the Union.

Before he knew Kamille, Rise never had a goal in his life. He only had himself, and thus, he was never scared of any retaliation. Worst, he would die. And that was if they could.

He also never actively seeks out this dirt either. Only when he was bored or some coincidences, he become a witness unintentionally.

A few things that drive him to live, fighting and entertainment. Rise revolved around himself and saw others as only fused to release his boredom. The executives had not escaped his grasp as well.

Before he knew it, things had accumulated.

"So you threaten them?"

Rise smirked. "I don’t really need to."

And so he told Kamille what happened. After returning to the Union, he immediately sought out the Director who was always scared of him. Since, the dirt on Rise’s hand was too numerous to count.

Yes, the executives were scared of him, not only of his prowess but most of all of what he had in his hands.

Rise did not bother to talk to him and instead threw a chip, which was inside a small vial. The Director barely caught it. He then spoke leisurely as he stood in front of the man.

"I want to leave, you won’t stop me, right?"

The way he smile, he obviously did not take no for an answer. The Director looked at the chip and gulped.

"Ah... this..." The Director could not really decide.

Was Rise valuable? Of course, he was! However, was he confident to rein him in? Definitely not!

He was a devil incarnate, not having any care in the world. So, threatening him just to stay would never work.

Rise continued to grin, but there was now coldness in his eyes. Before he could speak again, the Director’s survival instincts kicked in.

"Okay! Ah, I mean... Of course, you can leave. Your contract is also flexible, we can terminate it as soon as possible." The sweat on his forehead dripped down his cheek.

A satisfied smile curled on Rise’s smile.

"I knew the Director would let me go; we’re good partners, after all." Rise did not bat an eyelid as the Director’s eyelids twitched. "Oh, before that, we need a reason."

Without waiting for the Director to respond, Rise released his force field, and soon, because of the heavy force, a small portion of the ceiling and the side walls collapsed.

The Director wilted, pale, frightened at his wits. Rise nodded and approached him, but he took a step back before collapsing on the ground.

"Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. You’re once my superior." He still had that ethics, at least.

Rise only put down his ID as an official Union member and things related to this identity. Soon, he bid farewell, not bothering to check on the Director again.

"Now, I’m here." Rise smiled, ending his recollection. He looked rather proud after telling Kamille the story.

On the other hand, Kamille’s gaze grew deeper again. He was also amused at the same time. Rise’s hobby was indeed unique, and Kamille had to say, it was also too characteristic of him.

Nodding, Kamille eventually set aside. What happened or what method Rise used to leave the Union was not important, now he was already part of his Guild.

Although, he had to make a reminder.

"I hope you tone down your...hobby." Kamille did not want a time bomb or chaos, even if he thought highly of Rise, no matter how important, he would disregard him.

"Don’t worry, Guild Leader. I don’t think I’ll ever feel bored from now on," he affirmed.

Sighing, Kamille thought of finally dismissing Rise. Where to appoint him and the announcement of him joining, he still had to plan that out.

Rise was not any newcomer; he had a name for himself. Whether it was a bad one, not of that matters. Rise Lee was a resounding name, he knew as much. The media was still feasting on the news of him being kicked out of the Union and was now hungry for more information.

Appointing a position was not too hard though, being his personal guide, Rise had to be in his party.

Before he could do so, however, Rise suddenly spoke.

"Guild Leader..."

"What is it?"

"How about, I guide you?"

He did not know whether it was intentional or not, but Rise’s tone seemed longer at the end, sounding coquettish for some reason.

Kamille’s throat moved, paused, and then shook his head.

"There’s no need."

Really, he had not used his ability for him to require guiding. And he could even survive this long without proper guiding.

Rise pursed his lips and leaned lazily on his seat. "But... I never guided anyone before. I want to practice."

Did this even need practice? Also, while he was not himself then, he still remembered. Kamille thought that was not someone who actually needed practice.

However, knowing that Rise indeed lived only as an Esper; he had yet to be used to being a Guide, and he was probably the first Esper he guided, Kamille was suddenly unable to turn down this offer.

Seeing his hesitance, Rise knew how to strike while the iron was hot!

"Guild Leader, it’s not only for me. I also want to fulfill my duty to you to the best of my ability." Rise stood slightly, then sat at the table, facing Kamille. Smiling innocently, "Won’t you let me, your personal guide, guide you again?"

Kamille was always rational, but at that time, this rationality seemed gone awry for some reason. As if bewitched by Rise’s innocent smile, he could only nod.

Rise was loving this. Even then, Kamille was always tolerant of him. He attributed it to him being his personal guide. And so, this time, he called him as such again. True enough, Kamille was weak with these words!
