Chapter 153: Troubles

Rise stood before the woman who fainted due to shock and fear. He stared at her, his gaze empty.

Counting the days, it had been just two months since his return, or perhaps even longer. That aside, his deeds and trending sections on the internet were still fresh in everyone’s minds.

He was still the troublemaker, Rise, although his presence had mellowed down during these days.

However, for Rise, it actually had been a long time since he acted this way. Almost five years? The Rise, who met Kamille and pursued him relentlessly, only saw him and never cared about these things anymore.

For him, it had been quite a long time.

Rise breathed; somehow, there was a kind of relief with it.

Soon, flashes appeared one after another. As his emotions subsided, he gradually perceived his surroundings clearly. Earlier, he was just so focused on reporters and ignored others.

He lifted his gaze, and a slowly growing crowd began to surround him. When his gaze landed on one corner, the people standing there stepped back, trembling as they scrambled to get away from their sight.

Looking at the other side, the same thing happened.

They were looking at him as though he was some kind of ferocious monster they had to avoid. Gazes like that; it was nothing new to him.

Whether the Troublemaker Rise or the Traitor of Humanity Rise, it was the same. If anything, it only became intense when he became the latter.

Fear...

He watched their faces pale when his gaze swept on them, stepping back but never leaving. Their hands hold their phone, recording him.

Sigh, he should have known that his actions would never be clean and silent, especially in a public place like this.

He could not help but watch these... civilians.

Pathetic... Hypocrites.

Rise’s lips hooked up until a low laugh escaped his mouth.

The chatter around him then began to register with him.

"Is he on a rampage?"

"Scary... Rise should be locked up."

"Why can an Esper like that run free?"

"He should be punished for hurting the citizens!"

"Espers should protect us, not hurt us!"

The chatters and discussions grew louder until some became bolder and did not step back anymore.

After all, they were citizens! Rise was now an Esper under Dark Crimson, a guild who should be protecting them in this city!

Rise could not suppress his laughter at how ridiculous the situation was.

This was a kind of plot twist he had not expected when he decided to wander around with Riri. But then again, he was a trouble magnet; this should be within his expectations.

"Am I on a rampage?" Rise tilted his head, and his figure was already in front of a middle-aged man who voiced out that question earlier. His calm demeanor was actually a bit tame compared to earlier, but for the ordinary people, his presence would always be intimidating.

The man screamed, and so did the others around him.

"Why? Do I look like one?" He asked again, curious.

An Esper’s berserk state was a serious issue, and people should not joke or say it casually in public. And what was more for, an A-rank Esper with an ambiguous tie with being an S-rank ability like Rise.

"Ah... I..." The man’s lips quivered, unable to answer.

Rise’s interest quickly waned. It seemed it was just a thoughtless remark.

He shifted his attention and then slowly swept his eyes around again.

Rise grinned. "You’re all recording me?"

Their hands trembled at that.

"No, just keep recording me." He then waved as their feet were frozen and so were their bodies, as though their bodies were not their own. The pressure around them made them stiff—a new experience that some fainted in an instant while others were not far from being one.

Looking around from another perspective, Rise was standing at the center while the phones were aimed at him, like some sort of celebrity.

Well, he was, kind of.

He looked around with satisfaction, ignoring how horrifying the scene was.

"Let’s address it here and now..."

Rise was aware some of them were just taking pictures or videos, but there should be one or a few that were livestreaming. That was more convenient.

He smiled, but his eyes carried a venomous threat.

"Leave... the child alone."

Rise heard aircraft begin to linger in the air; some were of small scale while the others carried the military. They only flew around.

Well, things became more fun.

"Otherwise... anyone, I mean... anyone that talks about him," Rise’s smile faded, and so his eyes darkened.

He lifted his hand, and slowly, as he motioned with his hand, the aircraft above began to descend, the gravity pulling them down. Panic arose from the passengers inside but also from the people below, not only the people who were aware but also from the surrounding buildings.

Now, it had truly become a huge commotion.

Rise wanted to do this. Otherwise, people, especially the annoying reporters, would continue to harass Riri, wanting to know his identity.

Riri’s identity was special and something that should never be leaked, no matter what. Even not for that, he was someone Rise wanted to protect.

Also, people seemed to be forgetting what he could do just by a few months? No, that would not do.

His hands stopped, and so did the descent of the aircraft, just enough for everyone to see the aircraft early. The passengers inside could not even react; the military, without any orders, could not act and only waited on what he was about to do.

Over time, the crowd only grew.

Rise was not even relying on the phones anymore, as the reporters above were now giving him the coverage he wanted.

He looked up, and his eyes flashed; his hand then turned into a fist.

Visible with the anked eye, the aircrafst began to bend, as though it were just a mere can of soft drinks.

"Mad! He’s insane!"

The surrounding people began to cry in panic; some of the people on the aircraft had already jumped from it to escape. Everyone was terrified beyond their wits!

The military among them also stood up, hearts gripped with fear. Their gaze watches Rise with conflicted emotions, even if they fight him...

This was Rise Lee... Someone only a few in number could beat among the Espers. What was more for them, the ordinary people?

Just as everyone was anticipating for Rise to destroy the aircraft, he then stopped and relaxed his grip. The pressure then also subsided slightly.

However, the dents and cracks from the aircraft were visible for all to see.

At the center of it all, standing leisurely just below the huge aircraft was the smiling Rise. A moment that would also be remembered for years to come.

Rise did not need to finish his words... Everyone already knew the extent of what he could do.

The commotion also resounded throughout the whole federation; the internet came alive in an instant, and different opinions appeared. Yet, every one of them agreed with one thing:

Punish Rise Lee.

Petitions were being created left and right from different organizations, which would be sent mostly to the Esper Union and, of course, the Dark Crimson.

"You created such a big trouble, Rise."

As soon as Rise returned to the headquarters and entered Kamille’s office, that was the first thing he heard. The words appeared to be a reprimand, but they sounded soft and even amused.

Naturally, a smile appeared on Rise’s lips, holding the sleeping Riri and putting him on the couch as he himself approached Kamille’s table. He even ignored Hayes, who was standing at the side as he bypassed him, and then leaned at the table in front of Kamille.

"You also watched my show, Guild Leader?" He did not regret it one bit.

Kamille leaned on his seat, putting down all the documents in his hand. As he was about to remove the glasses in his eyes, Rise reached out and stopped him.

"Did you have fun?" He inquired, letting Rise fix his eyeglasses.

"So-so. I’m more pissed off." Rise honestly admitted. "But then... I really created a huge trouble, didn’t I?"

Kamille looked at him and finally could not suppress it and pulled him closer until Rise was already pressed in his body, hand wrapped around the other’s waist.

"The PR team is now being overwhelmed; the calls kept coming." Kamille sounded as though he had already given up to reprimand Rise, or if he even had that intention from the start. "A huge crowd might rally soon outside."

Kamille drew circles around Rise’s waist, teasing.

"What should I do with you?"

Rise bit his lips, suppressing a giggle. Finally, he moved and sat on Kamille’s lap. He then leaned and whispered.

"You can punish me later."

Kamille’s brow shot up; he was about to say something as a response to that, but his gaze happened to meet Hayes, who still stood awakwardly at the side.

Noticing his pause, Rise turned toward behind him, which also landed at Hayes. Rise narrowed his gaze.

Ah, right.

"You’re here."

Rise finally noticed him, but sounding so unethusiastic as well made Hayes almost shed tears, like he did not want to be there too!

"I, I’ve always been here." Hayes adjusted his glasses.

"Yeah, I can see that." Rise’s mood shifted, but he did not stand up from Kamille’s lap. Instead, he only makes himself more comfortable.

He ignored Hayes again and met Kamille’s gaze.

"I took full responsibility for all of it, so... Guild Leader, you can just ignore it."

Since, things would just return to what they used to after a few days, he was already accustomed to this. Even if he had some punishment from the Union, it would only be a fine and some free commission mission. After all, he did not kill anyone.

As soon as he was thinking of this lightly, Rise noticed... Kamille’s expression had already gone dark.
