In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL] -
Chapter 144: Outside Influence
Chapter 144: Outside Influence
Their arrival was unexpected; no one even noticed their presence until they finally showed themselves and that Rise suddenly spoke.
Rise ignored the alliances of the natives and fully focused his attention on Dan. Kamille merely glanced at the natives, not saying anything; his presence seemed low for some reason, but this made the natives more wary.
"Hey, you want to be saved?" Rise’s lack of sympathy in his tone was evident, and even sounding like he was teasing them. He sounded rude as well.
Dan frowned, and so were the members behind him, equally puzzled by this newcomer. They stared at Rise, wanting to know who he was under the black cloak.
They could only catch a glimpse of his face, which was limited to the small part of his chin. One was clear though: they were Espers like them and not natives.
"Will you save us?" Dan asked instead of answering; he did not even ask the identity of the newcomer, he only wanted to know if their intentions were clear.
"Big Brother..." Quin’s voice called Dan, as though wanting to stop him.
A low laughter rang; no one could see his expression, but the laughter was enough to guess.
Everyone’s attention was on him, and Rise loved it. His laughter then died down, smiling.
"Do you want to be save?" His tone was lacking any persuasion, more like teasing, but Dan did not care. He could not be bothered to know his intentions.
And the moment that Dan nodded, unbeknownst to him, his fate was then altered from then on.
"Invaders, who gave you permission to leave!" A furious roar came from the crowd. "Don’t think we’ll let you go easily."
Rise sneered. "Who’s asking for your permission?"
His eyes flickered as he jumped just before the group, followed by Kamille, just waiting for what he would do. They could fly to escape, and that was the easiest thing to do.
There would be a major problem, though.
Kamille’s presence itself. He could not be involved... yet.
Rise took something in his storage space and threw it. He only realized that his collection was more extensive than he thought, although weirder than the other.
"Bye bye!" Rise waved, mocking them as the natives charged and attacked at the same time.
Before their attacks landed, the group were suddenly swallowed by a huge mouth that emerged from the ground. This did not only startle the natives but also Dan’s groups and Kamille, who did not expect it.
They almost jumped to escape, but the pressure from Rise made them frozen to the ground. Kamille also sensed this, and so he did not make a move.
He only stared intently at Rise’s back; the corners of his lips lifted slightly. Just as he thought he was beginning to figure him out, Rise managed to surprise him each time.
The natives scrambled to get away from the monster that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Before they could react again and settle themselves on the ground, the invaders were already nowhere to be seen.
"How?" One of the leaders in front approached the huge crater that was created by the monster’s appearance. Some even stumbled, looking down, their mouths gaping.
"This..." Another leader frowned, observing the crater or a huge hole that seemed endless. "This is more troublesome than we thought."
They only wanted to capture one of the Espers, preferably the one who had killed the man from the inn, but anyone would do as long as they could be proven to be the one who did it, and the rest they could just kill them.
Otherwise, how could the five still be alive if they went all out? However, the five, especially their leader, were more powerful than expected, managing to hold out for so long.
Now, another troublesome character appeared...
"What should we do?" Another leader looked at the other leaders from the Three Nations. "Should we chase? What about exploring down there?" He pointed at the massive underground hole.
"Of course, we have to chase them."
And everyone agreed; the problem was... Would they be able to capture them? This was truly a headache.
The headaches... The one who created these headaches was already trailing below the earth.
"Not yet," Rise muttered to himself; he could feel that something was still after them. The book had already said that he had an advantage over the plot this time; he did not know the specifics, but he could guess most of it.
A character outside the plot’s influence... He could be that character. No, he would be that character.
"Don’t leave my side." Rise was experimenting, and so the people here had to cooperate. He also did not need to worry; his Guild Leader was backing him, he only had to control this behemoth he summoned.
The inside of its stomach was rather unplesant, but at least it did not smell since he only often isolating it inside is confinement, and so it was always asleep, unable to eat.
It was also dark, but as Espers, the darkness was hardly an issue.
He only wanted their cooperation, that was all. It would be best if they cooperated more peacefully, though.
Rise did not hear any complaints, making him satisfied. They were pretty sensible.
Clenching his fist, Rise closed his eyes. His senses then began to connect with the behemoth. This pet of his was not really smart and so could not be ordered so easily; he might as well control its body himself.
The behemoth did not reject his consciousness through their contract and let Rise take over. His senses underground were limited, but the behemoth was like a fish in the water, easily traversing through it with its massive body.
A switch, then a click.
It was here.
Rise was not afraid of the natives chasing them but of this feeling. He already felt it when he took over some of Epsilon’s future possessions; it was faint then.
But this time, it had a bigger influence on him. And soon with others too.
Rise furrowed his brows heavily, face contorting, his senses becoming hazy as the pressure around him seemed to become heavier.
He already expected this. Rise was not one to back down; he griotted his teeth and went faster, disregarding the direction, which he lacks at this moment.
"Move closer!" Rise shouted, becoming hurried. "Now!"
Rise’s eyes snapped open. "Guild Leader!"
Kamille noticed the problem, ignoring the annoying errors blinking from his vision since earlier. Rise did not need to clarify; wind blew surrounding the monster and themselves, shielding them.
"Move closer!" He commanded, not bothering to look at the group.
Though confused and wanting to ask, they also huddled together, too tired to even think deeply into it. Just a few seconds later, they also felt it. Their hearts ached, as though someone was gripping it.
As they began to panic, a howl of pain resounded, and the ground shook. The monster was howling in pain!
"It’s okay, it will be fine." Rise mumbled, consoling his pet. He bit his lips, resentment filling his gaze.
Fuck! Not my baby! You bitch!
He wanted to scream, his heart aching from his pet’s cry.
Even when he was in the intense fight, Rise never even let his pet come out to fight for him, and now... damn it! He regretted using his baby!
If they looked outside, they might be terrified just how the ground seemed to squeeze and trap them inside. It was chasing them! The ground seemed to become alive!
The behemoth’s body, which was so thick a bomb might not even wound it, was now soaking with its blood. If not for Kamille’s wind shield, its injuries might be more intense.
[Record corrupted...
Error! Error!
Self-repairing...]
This kept flashing on Kamille’s vision; he ignored all of it, helping Rise control the behemoth using the wind and also shield it from the impact.
Dan was watching them, frowning. He did not know if it was the natives, but from the sound of the ground, someone was chasing them. He was feeling stuffy, uncomfortable, and unsettled for some reason.
Rise could not help but shout, cursing who knew what. He moved faster using the behemoth while consoling it through their link. Its howls were deafening, but it did not stop and continued.
Just more... some more.
Rise did not even know the criteria. This was the first time he would truly be involved inside the plot, and not only a simple character at that, one closest to the main character.
So... This was how the world would react...
Rise became pissed, but he did not let it get through his head.
"Gui—cough..." Rise could not finish it; he already coughed blood. "I-I’m okay." he immediately assured Kamille.
Kamille’s jaw clenched tightly, his gaze darkening.
"Just a little more..." Rise turned and smiled at Kamille, sensing the shift in the atmosphere. They could not afford for Kamille’s extreme side to be free at this moment.
"We’ll be able to escape."
Rise knew Kamille was not convinced, but that still calmed him down.
Taking a few deep breaths, Rise closed his eyes again and began fighting the fucking world again.
Oh, now... He could only escape.
For now.
