In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]
Chapter 142: Amazing Show

Chapter 142: Amazing Show

"I never thought they still have such secrets." Rise was genuinely surprised. He probably just underestimated them too much.

He muttered as they flew, planning to return to the city. As for the aftermath of what they did in the city, he could not care less about that.

The bigger the chaos, the better.

"Guild Leader, do you think it is really feasible to connect both worlds together seamlessly?" He suddenly thought of this, having doubt but sort of wanting to believe its feasibility.

Strictly speaking, gates worked with that idea; however, they could not be said to be truly connecting both gates together, as everyone would prefer them being called anchors instead.

Gates needed to be anchored inside a dimension, which was the reason they needed to destroy the cores to clear the gate, but they could not truly erase the influence of the beings beyond the gate.

Kamille also thought for a while; this was a question he did not even care to think about before.

"I haven’t considered that, but we can try." After thinking for a moment, Kamille answered him.

We can try?

This put a smile on Rise’s lips; it was not exactly because of the idea of trying but of the word ’we’. This only shows how much Kamille had already considered himself as part of his plans and his life.

He nodded, somehow excited for the future.

"Yes, we can try!"

Whatever the answer was, they would only confirm everything after they tried it. Rise looked at his Guild leader; his heart was more settled and at ease.

The future was something he dreaded, as much as he hated to admit it. Rise knew what his future would be like and the terrifying events he would face. However, thinking that Kamille and a few people he trusted, like Thalia, were there, supporting him, he would not be scared anymore.

He would not be alone, facing a future filled with both certainty and uncertainty.

Rise did not think that he could accomplish what he envisioned alone; he was very realistic and always thought of ways to expand his forces. His enemies were not just the beings beyond the gates or Epsilon and the plot armor he would have.

Not even destiny.

The Author.

Rise knew who was the real enemy, a nonexistent yet ever-apparent obstacle.

"Before we return, let’s go visit someone first!" Rise patted his Guild Leader and pointed in one direction. Smiling as he winked. "Someone there might interest you."

Kamille stared at him, casually changing their direction.

"I doubt it," Kamille then whispered.

Rise glanced at him and smiled broadly.

"Of course, I’m more interesting."

This time, Kamille agreed, making Rise laugh. Time and time again, he wondered... What made his progress with Kamille so fast in this life?

Somewhere at the ruins, a group was already panicking.

"How can we not leave?" A curious but anxious voice resounded, looking at her ring, which after all the tries was still not activated.

They all did whatever they could, remembering everything that the Union had told them when activating this ring, but it was still not activating!

"Stop screaming, Farrah! For fuck’s sake, screaming won’t activate that ring!" A deep voice frustratingly reprimanded her, brushing his face.

Farrah bit her lips, startled; tears only lingered at the rim of her eyes, not trickling down her cheeks.

"But... Captain, something’s really wrong!" She slumped on the worn-out couch, burying her face in her hands.

"Everyone knew something was wrong." A sarcastic voice then cut in, casually sitting on the ground. His gaze landed on the reason they were in this situation.

Owen was still out of his mind, extremely terrified of what happened. Unlike earlier, when he became angry and wanted to punch Owen, he was calmer now and also realized how odd the situation was.

Out of all five in the party, he would even have a higher chance of provoking or killing a native than Owen.

Farrah quickly glared, wanting to confront him, but their captain directly intervened.

"Calm down." His voice filled with authority, something he rarely uses. He swept his gaze at everyone, eventually landing on Owen.

Each time they asked, Owen would only repeat the words, "I didn’t do anything. Someone possessed me."

This made him more frustrated. He could not even blame him or reprimand him in this situation. He took a deep breath, clenching the ring, which had become useless. They did not even know if this ring had been defective since the start or if the natives had done something to it.

"Farrah, Quin, Rowan." He called each of their names except Owen’s, which he doubted would even respond, but he still looked at him, worry evident in his gaze.

His expression then hardened; the clear scar across his cheek became even more apparent. He looked at everyone with a firm gaze.

"We don’t have any choice."

If he was the only one, with his ability, he was confident that he could hide until he finally figured out how to leave. However, that was not the case here; he was not alone, he was with his brothers and sister.

They could not afford to die here; they still have families outside, waiting for their return.

The three’s expression then became solemn, sensing the gravity of the situation.

"I understand, big brother." The three had yet to hear the full statement, but they already readily agreed. Calling him by that title rather than captain.

Their guild might not be what people could consider a ’good and ethical’ guild, but they still had principles. Yet in this situation, they were not just a guild; they were a family. This was more than a guild matter.

The man sighed as he looked darkly at his dagger, gripping it. His eyes were becoming filled with determination. He could only apologize to the people that they might implicate; for him, the survival of his family was the utmost priority.

He had no choice; to be able to leave, they needed rings that other espers had. Survival was more important; that had always been the motto of the Esper.

As they were getting ready, not far from where they were, a few figures had already arrived, watching them.

Not for long, and two new figures also stopped in the sky.

"This is the place," Rise muttered, not concealing the excitement. "And it’s getting lively here."

Kamille also noticed there were already quite a few figures hiding in the dark. In the seemingly simple ruin of the city, a chaotic air was already brewing.

Just as he was about to descend, Rise clung to him tightly, stopping him. Kamille turned to Rise, only to see him winking at him.

"Let’s stay here first, Guild Leader." Rise spoke with his mysterious yet excited voice again. "I’ll show you something really amazing."

Kamille paused and let the air just surround them.

"Amazing?"

Rise nodded, looking down, already waiting for the show to start.

"Something truly amazing!" He muttered and wandered his gaze around, then paused. "Oh right!"

He spotted some figures; they held his mana, so they always stood out in his perception. He thought about it; he was not exactly an abusive master... So, let’s make them evacuate first!

Kamille only watched him; more than the amazing show Rise was talking about, his attention was always drawn towards Rise, looking forward to his every move.

’Leave.’

Rise did not need complicated signals; just using the mana as a way to convey his thoughts was enough. It was the easiest and most convenient way to command his underlings.

Too bad, the distance was limited around his vicinity.

Kamille narrowed his eyes, noticing some figures, seemingly startled but soon left one after another. He then turned to Rise, who was already looking at him.

"Our underlings," Rise smiled. "They are so useful, it will be a waste to let them die here."

Every member of his organization was part of his plan, thus important. Those who betrayed him were automatically kicked out; hence, they could die, becoming the fertilizer of their growth.

Kamille stared at him. Rise only received that gaze with a proud smile, as if asking for praise. Kamilled did not do that though but tightened the arm around his waist, patting him.

Rise’s smile widened at that gesture.

The two waited, cloak hiding them from prying eyes. The darkness is naturally shielding them.

"It’s here," Rise mumbled, his gaze focused on what was happening below them.

Rise’s heart was pounding, not just from nervousness or anticipation. He was confirming something; this was an official start.

Would he truly have a chance to ruin and change the plot? Rise was going to confirm that here. His hand subconsciously gripped Kamille’s, seeking comfort and his presence.

Kamille glanced at their locked hands before he shifted to Rise’s face. Finally, he also looked down.

Now, he was curious.

Just like Rise, Kamille began to wait.

It was then that the event Rise was waiting for finally erupted. A huge explosion resounded, the debris flew, and the figures hiding in the dark showed themselves.

Their appearances varied, as did their clothes from different nations.

The hunters were here.

Rise’s eyes lit up; his heart was about to escape his chest.

"This scene..." He mumbled, his expression animated.

Soon, the smoke and aftermath of the explosion ceased. Five figures then appeared; their appearances told them they were not natives.

Rise looked at their disgruntled figures before his eyes naturally landed at the figure in the center, standing before the others.

Scar.

Dan. One of the loyal sidekicks of Epsilon.

Rise’s lips hooked up. Hello there, my old enemy.
