Chapter 141: First Kill

The capital, or the land of the Three Nations, the considered center of this world, had not been peaceful lately. The powder keg that had been fermenting in this place for a couple of weeks had finally erupted.

And this night... was no different; the chaos would escalate that not even the Three Nations or Federation had predicted.

"I love their architecture here." Rise looked up and saw a huge dome enveloping the whole place. Unlike modern society, this place still retained the appeal of ancient architecture but had a fantasy-like feeling to it.

In this place, they did not need to limit the height of their buildings with the use of the barriers for flying monsters. In terms of magical advancements, this place was indeed hundreds of years ahead of the federation.

Rise could understand why the federation higher-ups were salivating to eat such a fat piece of meat.

"Be careful," a hand then fixed the cloak on his head before pulling him closer so as not to be swept by the crowd, securely wrapping an arm around his shoulders.

Rise’s attention shifted and turned to his side, smiling softly. Like he was, the other was also draped in a cloak, their appearances hidden. Their figures were also not eye-catching as this was a common attire on the streets.

He only leaned on his body, appreciating the gesture. Both of them still gained some attention, as their intimate gestures seemed to imply that their relationship was not just mere friends.

This was fleeting, as it was a busy street.

They continued until they stopped in front of a huge mansion. Rise looked at it, memories of the past lingered. He chuckled.

He never thought he would be here again. He did not stop even when the guards were starting to stop them. With each step he took, bodies would collapse on the ground, unconscious.

Rise had his awareness; these guards had nothing to do with what he came here for. Two figures draped in cloaks continued on their way to the mansion.

Rise was ahead while Kamille, acting like a knight, stood just a few steps behind. Their tacit understanding was apparent; as each guard collapsed, they would be swept by some force, making way and neatly arranging like Rise’s path.

There was no meaning to it; Rise only thought it was cool, and so Kamille just agreed with it being a good side villain.

This was basically a play. Rise hated such situations, but now he was embracing them! He never thought it would be so much fun; his anticipation only grew.

"Who are you?" An alarmed voice reached their ears, looking at them with wary eyes.

The woman had a beautiful face even though her age was visible in them. Rise was not here to appreciate her, though; he only smiled under the cloak.

The bloodlust quickly rushed through his head, like how a good villain would; was it necessary to give some cliche and cringy words? No, of course not. Rise would not do such useless things.

"Get down, madam!" Rise laughed, tone playful.

The woman’s eyes shrank; she could not feel her legs as she only saw how Rise seemed to become bigger than her. Huh? The woman looked down at her feet; her pupils dilated even further.

She was already kneeling on the floor; her knees were cemented on the ground; she could not move. She wanted to scream but her voice seemed to also leave her.

Rise only smiled at the terror in the woman’s eyes as she looked at him, as if she saw a monster.

That;s right. Fear me... Only then will my role be fulfilled.

"I’m not here for you, madam. See you later, I guess?" Rise left her, laughing, striding inside with easy yet quick steps.

No! The woman wanted to scream so badly. Danger. Run! Terror filling her whole being, she was only looking at Rise’s leaving figure when she also managed to see the man following behind.

Tears already filled her face, sobbing with horrifying emotions, especially as those pupils swept at him.

It only took a second.

The woman felt like he heard him say...

Don’t spoil his fun.

Fun? Rise was truly feeling so amazing today. So, was this that character possessing him felt whenever he began his villain ways?

Rise then stopped in his tracks, his gaze landing on the man sitting on the headseat of a table. He was talking before he noticed the gaze, and the man frowned.

Seeing the man frown, the others also look in Rise’s direction. They all became displeased at the outsider, yet they did not seem to take him seriously.

"Where are those idiots?"The man cursed. "A rat entered inside, and they were all slacking off?"

Rise’s smile did not fade; only his brows rose amusingly.

"A rat... huh?" The other had yet to blink when Rise seemed to flicker and he was already in front of the man. A collective gasp then resounded inside the room, shocked by what happened.

"H-Hey! What the fuck are you all doing?" The man shouted again, wanting to catch the attention of the guards. The other also began shouting.

"Pathetic," Rise did not bother to listen before he flicked the man off the seat, throwing him to the ground and sitting himself there. He felt the seat, smiling through it.

"How did you do it?" Rise began to ask, before he just killed them and never got to ask them how they made Danich’s den briefly connect with the world.

The man frowned, anger apparent on his face.

"What are you saying? How dare a commoner like you question me?" The man huffed in anger, but still maintained a composed demeanor, still not taking Rise seriously.

"What is a dirty commoner doing here?"

"Those guards, they needed to be punished!"

The discussion became louder, complaining about the guards and Rise’s behavior.

Rise leaned at the seat, crossing his arms as he yawned. His smile then faded.

"Sssh..." As soon as he gestured, the surroundings quietened down. "Be quiet and answer me, How did you all do it?"

He looked at the man just at the far right, pointing. "Do you know?"

The man, not feeling his voice, shook his head, too scared to even think.

"You’re useless then." Rise only flicked toward him; his pupils dilated before blood poured and splattered; his skull exploded before everyone.

The others finally realized their situation... A lunatic had come to find them. If they could scream, they already screamed their lungs out; if they could escape, they were already running towards the door.

He then looked at the others and smiled, his lips visible under the cloak.

"I’ll repeat, how did you manage to do it?"
