Chapter 227: Unpredictable Future

Looking at the soldiers and his comrades, Mao Yan pulled up the scarf covering his lower face and said, "With the current weather, it will take us at least two days to reach the Wu Lin base. Although most of the zombies and mutants are frozen due to the low temperature, the only ones that are still active are high-ranked zombies and mutants. Everyone must be careful and I wish everyone good luck. Move out!"

Following his order, more than twenty thousand soldiers, medical staff, supernatural beings and scientists boarded military vehicles. Braving heavy snow, they left the military base.

Looking at the abandoned military base from the rearview mirror, Zheng Yimu whispered: "I don’t know how many of us can reach the Wu Lin base safely. May the Goddess of Fortune be with us."

As soon as these words came out, in the Six Realms, the Goddess of Fortune sneezed: "Achoo!"

The God of War looked at her and asked, "High God Yi Fei, do you have a cold?"

Yi Fei rubbed her itchy nose in confusion, looked at Ming Ye and asked, "Can God catch a cold?"

After hearing her question, Ming Ye thought for a while and pretended not to hear her question. When she didn’t get an answer from him, Yi Fei scratched her head in confusion and counted with her fingers.

A few seconds later, she murmured: "This fortune... Will True God Zhu Lin and Devil God come back together? Mhm... Is this a fortune or a disaster? This is really an unpredictable future."

Hearing what she said, Ming Ye looked at her and asked, "What did you say just now? Will the Devil God and the True God Zhu Lin come back together? When will that happen?"

Yi Fei thought for a while and said, "I have no idea. The fortune is very chaotic, and the future is shrouded in fog. I can’t see clearly."

Taking out her soul-bound weapon, Yi Fei said, "High God Ming Ye, let’s count your luck before you go to war."

"All right." Ming Ye said after a moment of silence and then dropped his blood on the weapon.

While the Goddess of Fortune was busy calculating the fortune that would change the God of War’s fate, the small world created by the Devil God is slowly changing without anyone noticing.

Two days later, the temperature dropped another three degrees Celsius. Sitting in the passenger seat, Zheng Yimu saw thick fog from a distance. He picked up the walkie-talkie and said, "We have arrived at our destination. Turned on the fog lights and connected the vehicles."

After putting down the walkie-talkie, Zheng Yimu looked at the driver and said, "Stop here. We need to connect the vehicles before going into the fog."

"Yes, Captain." The driver said as he parked the car.

Zheng Yimu put on his coat, tightened his gloves, and got out of the car. The moment he stepped onto the thick snow, he shivered from the cold. He looked at the vast whiteness around him and then gestured to the other soldiers.

At his signal, the other soldiers nodded and went to get a rope from a military truck. While they were busy connecting the vehicles, Qian Yu walked out of the thick fog wearing thick clothes and wrapped like a dumpling.

When Qian Yu saw Zheng Yimu, the little boy walked towards him with difficulty. Because it was snowing heavily, Zheng Yimu didn’t notice him until Qian Yu stood behind him and said, "Good morning, Elder Brother. May I ask, what is your name?"

Hearing the boy’s milky voice, Zheng Yimu thought he was hallucinating. He looked around and found a small dumpling standing behind him. Looking at the clothes on the little boy, Zheng Yimu knew that he must be from the Wu Lin base.

Handing the rope to a soldier, Zheng Yimu squatted in front of Qian Yu and asked, "Baby, where are you from? Where is your family?"

Qian Yu stared at Zheng Yimu’s half-covered face for a while and asked, "Elder Brother, what is your name?"

Zheng Yimu smiled at the boy and said, "My name is Zheng Yimu. You can call me Elder Brother Yimu. Baby, what is your name?"

Qian Yu smiled at him and said, "My name is Qian Yu, and I’m here to take you to my home."

Hearing Qian Yu’s answer, Zheng Yimu raised his eyebrows and asked in surprise: "Are you our guide? How could Captain Xiu let a little boy come out in this weather?"

Qian Yu tilted his head slightly and said, "Elder Brother, it is my job to lead people to my home."

Seeing Qian Yu’s confident expression, Zheng Yimu thought for a moment, nodded, and said, "Since Captain Xiu asked you to be our guide, then I will trust you."

After speaking, he gently rubbed Qian Yu’s head. He stood up and made a gesture asking if everything was ready. After receiving a positive answer, Zheng Yimu bent down and carried Qian Yu into the car.

He picked up the walkie-talkie and said, "Our tour guide is here. Is everyone ready?"

The next second, other drivers said, "Yes, Captain Zheng."

Zheng Yimu put down the walkie-talkie, looked at Qian Yu who was sitting on his lap, and said, "Xiao Yu, where are we going now?"

Qian Yu pointed to the right and said, "There."

The driver nodded and drove in the direction Qian Yu pointed. After many twists and turns, Qian Yu pointed to the fence in the distance and said, "That’s the entrance to Sector E."

Zheng Yimu glanced at the thick fog, but saw nothing. Twenty minutes later, he finally saw a high fence covered with barbs and electric sparks in the distance.

After being silent for a few seconds, he looked down at the little boy sitting on his lap and thought to himself: ’This little boy... Is he a supernatural being with the ability of vision?’

While Zheng Yimu was still thinking, Qian Yu said, "Ah, Elder Brother Teng Bai is here."
