Chapter 178: Chapter 178 Unrepentant_1
"Scram?"
Qin Feiyang snorted. Looking at the two maids, he asked, "Where’s a pond?"
One of the maids replied, "There’s one in the backyard. Why do you need a pond?"
"Take me there."
Qin Feiyang reached out, grabbed Lin Chang, and lifted him as if he were a small chick.
The two maids hesitated, for they had guessed what Qin Feiyang intended to do.
Qin Feiyang shouted, "Lead the way if you don’t want to die!"
The two maids shuddered and hastily ran towards the backyard.
THUD!
Upon reaching the pond, without a word, Qin Feiyang tossed Lin Chang in.
"Help!"
Immediately, Lin Chang was in the water, struggling frantically and repeatedly shouting for help.
"Huh?" Qin Feiyang paused, turned to look at the maids, and asked, "He can’t swim?"
The two maids nodded, huddling together, their faces deathly pale. He actually dared to throw the Family Head into the pond! Who on earth *was* this person?
Qin Feiyang frowned. "Then why aren’t you calling for help? I won’t be responsible if he drowns."
"Quick, someone, help!"
"The Family Head is drowning!"
The two maids immediately began to scream.
Almost instantly, a servant ran out from a nearby pavilion.
Reaching the edge of the pond and seeing Lin Chang’s predicament, the servant quickly jumped in. With considerable effort, he finally managed to pull Lin Chang out.
The servant, catching his breath, glared angrily at the two maids. "What happened here? If anything were to happen to the Family Head, could you bear the responsibility?"
"It has nothing to do with us!"
"He was the one who threw the Family Head in!"
The two maids pointed at Qin Feiyang.
"Huh?"
The servant sized up Qin Feiyang and roared, "You dare to harm the Family Head? Are you looking for death?"
"Get lost!" Qin Feiyang said coldly.
"What did you say?"
"Say that again if you dare!"
The servant’s eyes were wide with fury, his demeanor menacing.
"Get lost!" Qin Feiyang repeated.
"You’re courting death!" the servant roared, lunging at Qin Feiyang.
"Stop!"
Just then, a low command came from behind them.
"Family Head!"
The servant, delighted, quickly turned around.
He saw Lin Chang get up from the ground, vigorously shaking his head to clear the last vestiges of his drunkenness. Then, he turned and looked at Qin Feiyang with suspicion.
The servant scurried to Lin Chang’s side and said fiercely, "Family Head, he was the one who threw you into the pond! He must have the gall of a leopard!"
Lin Chang let out a long breath, walked up to Qin Feiyang, and sneered, "Do you know why I told him to stop?"
Qin Feiyang said indifferently, "I’m not interested in knowing."
"Even if you’re not interested, you’re going to listen! It’s because I, the Family Head, want to personally shatter your skull!" Lin Chang let out a savage laugh. His True Qi flared, and he threw a punch at Qin Feiyang.
"In your current state, you lack the ability."
Qin Feiyang extended his arm and easily caught Lin Chang’s fist.
"How is that possible!"
Lin Chang was astounded. He strained with all his might but couldn’t pull his hand free.
The servant was also dumbfounded. He’s actually this strong? He can even subdue the Family Head so easily! Luckily, I didn’t actually rush forward earlier, or the consequences would have been unimaginable!
Lin Chang demanded angrily, "Who exactly are you?"
Qin Feiyang released his grip and said softly, "I want to talk to you alone."
Lin Chang shook his hand, eyed Qin Feiyang suspiciously, and then waved his hand. "All of you, leave!"
The servant and the two maids, as if granted a reprieve, vanished in the blink of an eye.
Lin Chang said, "Speak now!"
Qin Feiyang shook his head. "You look pathetic right now, but this is all your own doing. No one will sympathize with you."
"Is that all you came here to say?" Lin Chang’s fists clenched, a ferocious glint in his eyes.
Qin Feiyang said, "I don’t have time to meddle in your affairs. I was just thinking, if Lin Yiyi found out about your current state, she would be heartbroken."
"Yiyi!"
Lin Chang’s gaze wavered. He lunged forward, grabbed Qin Feiyang’s clothes, his face contorted with rage. "How do you know Yiyi? Who in the world are you?" he roared.
Qin Feiyang remained silent, merely looking at him calmly.
After a long moment, Lin Chang came to his senses. He quickly let go, bowed, and said, "Sir, I apologize. I was rude."
Qin Feiyang said, "If you were given another chance, would you still go against Qin Feiyang?"
Lin Chang’s body tensed. He looked startled and asked, "You know Qin Feiyang?"
"Answer me." Qin Feiyang raised an eyebrow.
Lin Chang lowered his head, his hands clenched so tightly his knuckles were white, his face twisted into a savage mask.
He hated Qin Feiyang from the depths of his heart. It was because Qin Feiyang had killed Lin Baili that Lin Han became incensed, took Yiyi away, and forced him to sign the agreement severing their father-daughter relationship. So, in his eyes, Qin Feiyang was the cause of everything that was happening.
Qin Feiyang looked disappointed. Shaking his head, he said, "After all this time, you still refuse to see the truth. You’re beyond saving. People like you don’t deserve sympathy."
"Who do you think you are?"
"Do you have any idea what Qin Feiyang did to me?"
"And how much do you even know about Qin Feiyang?"
"What right do you have to stand here and criticize me?"
Lin Chang roared hysterically.
"I don’t want to argue with you. Let’s just pretend I was never here," Qin Feiyang said indifferently, then turned and left.
Lin Chang glared at Qin Feiyang’s retreating figure.
Suddenly, as if he had just realized something, his body jolted. He quickly asked, "Could it be... Are you Qin Feiyang?"
"Correct."
"Go tell Lin Han. This is a good opportunity; he might give you some reward."
"No," Qin Feiyang added without turning his head, his voice laced with mockery. "’Reward’ isn’t the right word. It would be more like... a handout."
He really is Qin Feiyang... A wave of disbelief and unease washed over Lin Chang. He became this strong in less than a year? Is this still the same useless person from before?
Seeing Qin Feiyang about to disappear from sight, he suddenly snapped out of it and shouted, "Wait!"
Qin Feiyang didn’t stop and walked straight out of the Lin family estate.
Why did he suddenly appear? What does he want? Revenge? No, if it were revenge, now would have been the perfect opportunity.
Lin Chang muttered to himself, truly unable to fathom Qin Feiyang’s reason for returning.
Suddenly, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes. He hurried into a secret room, went to the Image Crystal Stone, and placed his hand on it, only to immediately withdraw it. His face showed his struggle. Should I inform Lin Han?
After a few moments of indecision, he made up his mind, ran out of the secret room, and rushed to the main gate. Looking at the two gate-keeping servants, he asked, "That man who was just here—which way did he go?"
"Family Head, you’re finally lucid!" the two servants exclaimed, looking very excited.
Lin Chang snapped, "I asked you a question! Didn’t you hear me?"
The two were taken aback for a moment, then quickly realized who Lin Chang meant. This was because, all day, only one person had visited the Lin family—the man who had slapped them.
"He seemed to go in the direction of the Treasure Pavilion."
"Family Head, did he do something to you?"
"Don’t worry, I’ll go gather everyone right now! We’ll go settle accounts with him!"
Both servants had fierce expressions.
SMACK!!
But, to their surprise, Lin Chang slapped each of them as well.
"Just stay put!"
"If you dare touch him, I, the Family Head, will destroy you first!"
Before the two could react, Lin Chang spat out the harsh words and ran towards the Treasure Pavilion.
We were just trying to help him get even, and he hit us? Has he gone mad?
Both men looked aggrieved and utterly confused.
「Treasure Pavilion.」
In the guest room, a dignified, beautiful woman sat by a tea table, appraising the man seated opposite her.
The woman was Lo Qianxue.
The man opposite her was, naturally, Qin Feiyang.
Qin Feiyang chuckled, "Senior, you still haven’t recognized me?"
"I don’t recognize you," Lo Qianxue shook her head, her face filled with puzzlement.
Qin Feiyang smiled wryly. Now that he had altered his appearance, it was indeed asking too much for Lo Qianxue to guess. He chuckled and said, "Senior, it’s me, Qin Feiyang."
"What?" Lo Qianxue shot to her feet, her expression incredulous. "Is it really you?"
"It’s really me," Qin Feiyang nodded.
Seeing this beautiful woman before him again, a long-lost sense of warmth and familiarity filled his heart. It felt particularly reassuring.
Lo Qianxue walked up, reached out, and lightly rapped Qin Feiyang on the forehead. "You rascal!" she said, half-annoyed, half-amused. "You’re back, so you’re back. Why make me guess?"
"Hehe." Qin Feiyang grinned sheepishly, scratching his head.
"Come, come, sit here." Lo Qianxue laughed, shook her head, then pulled Qin Feiyang towards a nearby chair.
Qin Feiyang didn’t sit, instead gesturing for Lo Qianxue to sit first.
He then performed a deep bow to Lo Qianxue and said solemnly, "Senior, thank you for extending your aid when I was in peril. I am eternally grateful."
Lo Qianxue smiled. "Those were trivial matters. And don’t keep calling me ’Senior.’ Your strength is considerable now. If you don’t mind, just call me Aunt Xue!"
"Aunt Xue?" Qin Feiyang paused, a strange warmth stirring in his heart. He nodded. "How could Feiyang mind? I’d be delighted!"
As Lo Qianxue poured tea, she sighed. "Your life this past year has truly been spectacular!"
Qin Feiyang asked, "Aunt Xue, you mean...?"
Lo Qianxue said, "Qingzhu already told me about your deeds through the Image Crystal Stone. To experience so much at such a young age... it must have been difficult for you."
Qin Feiyang smiled. "Without pressure, there’s no growth. That’s what Uncle Yuan taught me."
"To nurture such a promising young man in just five years... Qin Yuan is truly remarkable." Lo Qianxue sighed, poured a cup of tea, and placed it before Qin Feiyang. "What brings you back this time? Is there something specific you need to do?"
Qin Feiyang held up the teacup, took a small sip, and nodded. "Indeed, there were some matters, but they didn’t pan out. Still, it’s alright. The arrangements I’ve made in Yan City should be enough to turn things around."
He had come to Iron Bull Town specifically for Lin Chang. Lin Chang was fully aware of the history between him and Lin Baili. If Lin Chang had been willing to speak up for him, Lin Han would have had no grounds to refute his claims.
More importantly, persuading the royal family to cancel the marriage between Lin Yiyi and the First Prince was no simple feat. However, if Lin Chang were present, the outcome would be different. After all, regardless of anything else, Lin Chang was Lin Yiyi’s biological father; a mere piece of paper couldn’t sever that bond.
Unfortunately, even now, Lin Chang remained unrepentant.
So, he had to find another way.
