Chapter 1114: Chapter 389: Uninvited Guest_2

Unexpectedly, Immortal Huanglong quickly said:

“The Right Attendant of Holy Mother Palace has already been recruited by Calamity Venerable. Calamity Venerable has gained yet another formidable general!”

The Qi Cultivators collectively let out a sigh of relief.

Li Ping’an chuckled: “I thought it was some grave matter. Uncle-Master, come over and sit.”

“This isn’t a grave matter? Oh… cough.”

Immortal Huanglong’s gaze shifted toward Shiji, and he immediately straightened his posture, assuming the demeanor of a venerable master. At the same time, he deepened his voice and solemnly said:

“Junior Martial Sister Shiji is also here. I trust you’ve been well.”

Shiji, adorned in a fishtail dress with her hair tied in elegant clouds, rose and gave a slight curtsey to Huanglong, replying softly: “Thank you, Senior Martial Brother, for your concern. There hasn’t been much turbulence; I’ve simply followed in the company of our fellow brothers and sisters and earned a bit of merit alongside them.”

Immortal Huanglong clasped his hands in salutation, his eyes fixated solely on her.

Shiji lifted her hand to brush aside a stray strand of blue-black hair by her ear and lowered her head with a subdued, soft smile.

Meanwhile, Qiongxiao Celestial Maiden and Guilingling both tilted their heads, glancing at Huanglong and then at Shiji. Each of them clicked their tongues in bemusement.

Guilingling, leaning over the table, muttered: “Oh dear, oh dear, the Precept Teaching Immortals are practically at our Jinao Island’s doorstep!”

Qiongxiao Celestial Maiden, resting her chin in her hands, softly corrected her: “What does this have to do with Jinao Island? I think they’re about to march straight into Skull Mountain next!”

Shiji was no bashful maiden, and with a light scoff, she retorted: “If you two sisters keep jesting, I’ll just go complain to Senior Martial Brother and Senior Martial Sister Yun Xiao!”

Guilingling snorted: “As if I’d be afraid of Senior Martial Brother? I’m currently the Heavenly Court’s Chief of Security!”

Qiongxiao Celestial Maiden immediately sat upright and hastily said: “That was just a joke earlier, Junior Sister, don’t take it to heart.”

Li Ping’an: …

Good heavens, the hierarchy among the Jie Sect celestial maidens was crystal clear.

Immortal Huanglong, being somewhat reliable, redirected the conversation back to more pressing matters.

“About this Right Attendant matter—are we not going to intervene?”

“Uncle-Master, have a seat,” Li Ping’an patted the bench beside him and smiled. “Even if intervention is warranted, it’s not our place. For now, simply report the news to Holy Mother Palace and Xuanyuan Palace—it’ll suffice.”

“Why so?” Huanglong asked. “Didn’t they try to assassinate you previously?”

Li Ping’an poured wine and served dishes for Huanglong, responding in a warm tone:

“If we’re speaking of personal grievances, this Right Attendant harbored the intent to kill me and even acted on it, making her my mortal enemy.

“However, first, such an expert could easily hide within the Chaos Sea, making it impossible for anyone to find her;

“Secondly, this is a highly sensitive time. Though the Human Race triumphed, they paid a devastating price. The Heavenly Court and the Human Race agreed to jointly govern the Western Continent, which has already caused displeasure among many ministers. It’s best we refrain from meddling in Human Race affairs and let them resolve this internally;

“Lastly, the Holy Mother Palace highly values their honor. At this moment, they’re most eager to remove any stain on their name. To eliminate the faction of the Right Attendant, no one is better suited for the task than they are. There’s no need for us to get involved.”

Immortal Huanglong, upon hearing this explanation, displayed an enlightened expression and laughed: “Being the Heavenly Emperor comes with a plethora of considerations, it seems.”

“That’s the position I’ve been gradually pushed into, step by step.”

Li Ping’an turned his gaze toward the window, where the vast, azure waves of the East Sea stretched endlessly before him.

Feeling a deep sense of reflection, he murmured, “Master, Uncle-Master, everyone, please continue to dine. I’ll take a walk through the central region of the East Continent to refine my heart and cultivate.”

“Go ahead,”

Qing Su, her usually cool voice tinged with a trace of warmth, added:

“Don’t worry about the rest. As your master, I’ll take care of it for you.”

Li Ping’an smiled slightly and nodded, though in his heart, he couldn’t help but speculate whether his Master truly intended to act or if it was merely a casual remark.

The Chaos Sea, Zixiao Palace.

A burly elder Daoist sat calmly before six luminous pillars, methodically carving intricate patterns onto a jade pot with an exceptionally fine engraving knife.

Suddenly, another elder Daoist’s shadow appeared by his side. This one wore gray robes—it was none other than Taiqing Laotzu.

“Teacher.”

“Hmm? Done so quickly?”

Hongjun looked up at Taiqing and smiled: “Congratulations, fellow Daoist, on entering the Saint Realm of the Heavenly Dao.”

“Nothing but shackles.”

Taiqing seated himself across the low table, swept his hand over it, and a chessboard appeared. He began setting out the black and white pieces unhurriedly.

Hongjun sighed and said with resignation: “I can never beat you in this game.”

Taiqing forced an awkward smile and slid the chess box across the table.

Hongjun had no choice but to set aside his jade pot and engraving knife, pick up a chess piece, and join Taiqing in a match.

As soon as a few pieces were placed, two indistinct Dao Charms began to pervade the chessboard, which seemed to contain infinite illusionary realms. Each move they made appeared to spark boundless transformations.

All of a sudden, Hongjun remarked: “That father-and-son pair has already attained immortality.”

Taiqing gave a faint nod: “No obstacles stood in their way.”

Hongjun, with a trace of amusement in his tone, said: “Aren’t you worried that when you return in a thousand years, the Vast Wilderness Heaven and Earth will have become unrecognizable?”

“You confined the Six Great Masters for a millennium—it must be for a reason.”

“There’s no special reason, really,” Hongjun replied with a chuckle.

“Your six powers vary significantly in strength. Possessing the Hongmeng Purple Qi merely established a connection to the Source of Heaven and Earth, but it requires sufficient Spiritual Power poured in to enable your sainthood.

“Under my Hedao state, it would merely take a formality on your part, with boundless merit descending to transform it into Spiritual Power, thereby elevating you into the Saint Realm of the Heavenly Dao.

“But as things stand, the Heavenly Dao has not yet developed to the extent where merit can be dispensed freely. I can only resort to this method: gathering chaotic Spiritual Energy to forge divine physiques for you.”

“This place lies not far from the primary Heaven and Earth, on the very fringes of the Heavenly Dao’s influence.”

Taiqing gave a slight nod: “Does Teacher truly have no calculations at play?”

“The only calculation is to avoid entangling with karmic causality.”

Hongjun sighed, saying:

“You are not me; you cannot comprehend all that I have endured.”

Taiqing placed a piece on the board and asked gently: “Is Teacher wary of the spirit within the coffin?”

Hongjun remained silent.

After a moment, he sighed: “Within it lies a great enigma. The Vast Wilderness Heaven and Earth is not a place to linger for long.”

Taiqing nodded slightly.

The two continued their intermittent conversation, seemingly engrossed in their game. However, if this dialogue were overheard by the other Five Masters striving toward sainthood of the Heavenly Dao, it would undoubtedly stir a tempestuous uproar.
