Chapter 1490: Captured

"Zapdos~"

"Moltres~"

"Articuno~"

The cries of the three Legendary Birds echoed across the sky. They weren’t attacking Yuga and the others directly, but instead went on a wild rampage across the island as if they had gone mad.

Moltes unleashed a burst of flames, setting a vast portion of the forest ablaze in a roaring fire. Articuno let loose a Blizzard, freezing a huge area of the island into an icy wasteland. Zapdos crackled with electricity, discharging Thunderbolts that left scorched, blackened paths wherever they landed.

Seeing his subordinates acting out so recklessly, Lugia immediately dove down from the sky, flying to confront the three Legendary Birds and issued a stern warning to them.

But at this moment, the Legendary Birds no longer recognized their former superior. All at once, they launched Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt directly at Lugia.

Enraged, Lugia flared its wings and used its signature move, Aeroblast. Several massive blades of wind spiraled forth, shattering the attacks from the three birds in an instant. The shockwaves sent the three of them staggering backward, barely keeping themselves aloft.

While the Legendary Birds were thrown into disarray, Hoopa attempted to retract its summoning rings, clearly intending to open a space portal and escape. However, despite its effort, although the rings grew larger, no portal appeared.

It was then that Hoopa finally realized what had felt wrong earlier—this entire space surrounding the island had been sealed off.

Far above the space, outside the island, Mewtwo sensed something as Hoopa activated the summoning ring. A sharp glint of purple light flashed through its eyes, and the spatial ripples that had started to form were instantly smoothed out and stabilized again.

Realizing that its escape route was cut off, Hoopa let out a furious roar.

"You’re all so mean! You’re bullying Hoopa! Too much! Too much!"

As it shouted, all six of its arms began to move at once, releasing multiple waves of Dark Pulse directly toward where Yuga and Ash were standing.

Little Hoopa and Florges stepped forward at the same time. One used a summoning ring to redirect the incoming Dark Pulses elsewhere, while the other shattered the rest using Dazzling Gleam.

Though the island’s space was sealed, making it difficult for Hoopa to open portals to the outside, portals within the enclosed space could still be created. So all those redirected Dark Pulses were instead sent straight to where the three Legendary Birds were.

The three birds were still locked in combat with Lugia and were caught completely off guard. Moltres and Articuno were struck directly by the attacks and screamed as they crashed into the ground. Flames and frost burst from their bodies, spreading across the land and instantly setting more forest areas ablaze and freezing others.

Even from a great distance, Yuga and Ash could feel the searing heat and biting cold rushing toward them.

Zapdos, having dodged slightly, was only grazed. It wobbled in the air for a moment before quickly stabilizing itself. Without so much as a glance at its two fallen companions, it let out a screech and charged at Lugia again.

At Lugia’s side, Chimecho let out a soft glow, summoning a shimmering, translucent shield of light—Reflect.

Zapdos smashed right into the shield.

The light shield trembled slightly, then began to crack. Just as it shattered, Lugia’s Dragon Pulse struck Zapdos dead on, sending it crashing down to the ground near Moltres and Articuno.

"Zapdos~"

"Moltres~"

"Articuno~"

The three Legendary Birds staggered to their feet, flapping their wings in an attempt to take off again. But in the very next moment, Gravity Field descended upon them from Chimecho. The birds froze mid-motion, their bodies slightly forced down by the sudden weight.

However, the effect didn’t last long. Chimecho’s power wasn’t enough to restrain the three for long.

But for Lugia, this window was more than enough.

From its aerial vantage, Lugia looked down upon the three Legendary Birds, eyes full of disappointment and frustration. Without hesitation, it brought down another devastating Aeroblast.

On the other side, with its escape route cut off, Hoopa Unbound became increasingly crazed. It fixed its gaze on Little Hoopa, clearly intending to devour it in order to boost its own power and break through the spatial seal to escape from this place.

It used its signature move, Hyperspace Fury, unique to Hoopa Unbound. Its fist shot out through a summoning ring and smashed down violently toward Yuga and the others.

Florges quickly used Vine Whip to wrap around the waists of Yuga and Ash, pulling them behind her just before Hoopa’s attack struck.

Little Hoopa was caught off guard and was sent flying by the blow. Just as Hoopa Unbound reached out its hand to grab Little Hoopa, Gardevoir teleported and appeared beside Little Hoopa and using Dazzling Gleam to strike the back of Hoopa Unbound’s hand.

Hoopa Unbound retracted its hand in pain. At that very moment, Florges launched a beam of silver energy, Moonblast, directly at its chest, forcing its massive body to topple backward uncontrollably.

Little Hoopa quickly recovered and launched multiple Shadow Balls in rapid succession, all of them slamming into Hoopa Unbound’s head.

Hoopa Unbound collapsed to the ground, using three of its arms to brace itself while the other three flailed wildly, trying to shield its face. It cursed Little Hoopa angrily as it did.

"Damn it, coward, coward! How dare you do this to me! Hoopa won’t let you get away with this! Hoopa will eat you!"

In Hoopa Unbound’s eyes, Little Hoopa was nothing more than a coward—timid, weak, and not worth worrying about. It had never expected to suffer such a humiliating defeat at the hands of that very same opponent today.

At that moment, brilliant green light suddenly burst forth from the ground beneath Hoopa Unbound. One thick vine after another sprouted from the earth and climbed along its arms and legs, quickly crawling over its entire body. In the blink of an eye, it was wrapped up tightly like a giant dumpling, with only its head sticking out.

Hoopa Unbound tried to struggle, but Florges had already silently appeared in front of it.

There was a phantom illusion of green grass swaying gently under her feet. Then she reached out and pressed her hand firmly onto the vines binding Hoopa Unbound. Instantly, the vines grew even thicker and sturdier, tightening rapidly. Hoopa Unbound cried out in agony as it was constricted.

It opened its mouth, trying to attack Florges with Dark Pulse, but a vine shot out and stuffed itself into its mouth, silencing it and cutting off the move. Hoopa Unbound could only let out muffled protests.

Meanwhile, Lugia and Chimecho had already finished defeating the three Legendary Birds. Now, with Hoopa Unbound captured as well, this battle could finally be declared over.

Yuga walked out from the trees with Ash, holding in his hands the Prison Bottle he had requested from Chief Ghris.

Hoopa Unbound looked at Yuga in horror—more precisely, it was staring at the Prison Bottle in Yuga’s hands. It twisted its body desperately, trying to back away.

To Hoopa Unbound, the Prison Bottle was truly the most terrifying thing in the world.

But the more it struggled, the tighter the vines bound it.

"Mm... mm... mm..."

Hoopa Unbound whimpered, its voice full of fear and unwillingness.

Yuga walked toward it step by step and said, "Hoopa, it’s time for you to receive your punishment!"
