I'm the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon -
Chapter 1489: Three Embarrassing Birds
Chapter 1489: Three Embarrassing Birds
Time passed quickly, and soon the day arrived for Chikai to take his assessment at YoYo Day Care. He successfully passed the test and took Floette with him.
However, he didn’t leave Verdanturf Town after that. Instead, he stayed there temporarily, occasionally coming by the YoYo Day Care to buy Pokémon supplies, so Yuga would still see him from time to time.
Meanwhile, after a period of preparation, the construction of the higher academy officially began. As the person in charge, Mr. Gasai and the League officials became increasingly busy.
The name of the higher academy had already been decided—it would be called Verdanturf University. A straightforward and representative name.
During this time, Mr. Gasai occasionally brought Ryota to visit Yuga. He even invited Yuga to become a teacher at the future Verdanturf University, but Yuga refused.
Being a teacher required regularly giving lectures to students, but Yuga often ran around to different places, sometimes disappearing for many days. So it would be impossible for him to teach on a fixed schedule.
Mr. Gasai didn’t push the matter. After being turned down three times, he dropped the subject altogether.
What surprised Yuga, however, was that at some point, Chikai had somehow gotten to know Ryota. One day, Yuga saw the two of them walking together on the street and they seemed to have a very good relationship.
Still, Yuga didn’t think too much about it.
One day, Yuga received a phone call from Ash. It turned out that Ash had decided to give up on continuing his travels to other regions. Instead, on Professor Oak’s recommendation, he was about to further his studies at a university in the Alola region.
Unlike what Yuga knew from the original anime, the university Ash was going to was not the Pokémon school where Principal Oak served. That school was only a mid-level institution.
This was probably another result of the butterfly effect caused by Yuga’s presence.
The university Ash was about to attend did have Principal Oak as an honorary lecturer, though he didn’t teach there regularly.
However, Ash’s main purpose for calling wasn’t to talk about that. He wanted to ask Yuga for help in dealing with a particular problem before going off to university—Hoopa Unbound!
After learning that Little Hoopa could now sense Hoopa Unbound’s location, Yuga readily agreed to help. But to better deal with Hoopa Unbound, there was still some preparation to be done.
After arranging a time and meeting place with Ash, Yuga made a phone call to the Arche Valley. The external construction of the Valley’s relocation had basically been completed, and communication lines had been established, so contacting them was now very convenient.
A few days later, Yuga received a package. When he opened it, inside was a jar with a strange design—this was the newly crafted Prison Bottle that Yuga had asked Chief Ghris to make. This Prison Bottle was even more powerful than the previous one that had sealed Hoopa Unbound!
With the Prison Bottle in hand, Yuga immediately set out for the Kanto region. After following Ash and Little Hoopa there, Hoopa Unbound had not left the area.
Yuga and Ash agreed to meet on a small island in the Orange Archipelago. After several days of travel, Yuga first took a flying machine to Tangelo Island, and then rode a Lapras to reach the island Ash had mentioned. Ash was already waiting for him there.
The Orange Archipelago was a famous resort destination in the Pokémon world, and it was Yuga’s first time visiting. However, since he was in a hurry to meet Ash, he didn’t have time to explore at all.
The island where Ash was staying was extremely remote and almost uninhabited. There were countless such islands in the Orange Archipelago, and if not for GPS coordinates, it would have been difficult for Yuga to locate the right one.
As Yuga and Lapras arrived at a coastal area of the island, he could see Ash waving at them from a distance. Once Yuga landed on shore, Ash ran over excitedly and gave him a hug.
"Yuga, long time no see!"
"Pikachu~ Pikachu~!"
The Pikachu on his shoulder also waved happily at Yuga and, with a whoosh, leapt from Ash’s shoulder to Yuga’s.
Yuga patted Ash on the shoulder and said with a smile, "Yes, it really has been a long time." Although they often spoke on the phone, it was true that they hadn’t seen each other in quite a while. "How long have you been here? Is it just you and Pikachu?" As he spoke, Yuga scratched Pikachu under the chin.
"Pikachu~"
Pikachu couldn’t help but let out a contented sigh.
"Not long," Ash replied sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "And I didn’t come alone!"
Just as he finished speaking, a Poké Ball on his waist popped open, and Little Hoopa emerged from it.
"And there’s Hoopa! Hoopa’s here too!"
Little Hoopa had a very lively personality, and as soon as it appeared, it started circling excitedly around Yuga.
Then, the surface of the sea stirred with a loud splash, and a white head emerged from the water.
Seeing the Pokémon, Yuga exclaimed in surprise, "Lugia?"
"Lugia~"
Lugia called out to Yuga from afar as a greeting.
Ash chuckled and said, "Lugia wanted to come help on its own."
Yuga nodded at that. "With Lugia here, our chances of capturing Hoopa Unbound are much higher."
Next, Ash began to explain the current situation regarding Hoopa Unbound to Yuga.
Hoopa Unbound was currently on another island not far from the one they were on. After Ash had a fierce battle with it last time, he returned home for a while. During his absence, Hoopa Unbound began gathering followers again in the Orange Archipelago.
However, Lugia had secretly sent Water-type Pokémon from the sea to investigate, and it turned out that the followers Hoopa Unbound had assembled were nothing more than a ragtag bunch. They couldn’t pose any real threat.
Although the Orange Archipelago had many islands—countless uninhabited ones even—the area had been heavily developed by humans. Even if many of the islands weren’t inhabited, most had already been explored by people. So it was very difficult to find any high-level Pokémon here.
There were some high-level Pokémon in the sea, but since this was Lugia’s territory, Hoopa Unbound didn’t dare to extend its reach into the ocean.
After a brief discussion, Yuga and Ash rode on Lugia’s back as it swam through the sea toward the island where Hoopa Unbound was located. The two of them sat atop Lugia’s back, surrounded by a protective shield formed by Lugia’s psychic power, so the seawater didn’t touch them at all.
Yuga joked to Ash, "Thanks to you, I’ve gotten to experience what it’s like to ride on Lugia today. What a fascinating ride!"
Ash replied with a goofy grin, "Lugia is a very friendly Pokémon."
Yuga smiled but said nothing.
Lugia was incredibly fast underwater, and in just over ten minutes, they arrived at the island where Hoopa Unbound was located.
Before going ashore, Yuga took out two Poké Balls and quietly released two Pokémon. At the same time, he also arranged for Gengar and Mismagius in his shadow space to stand guard outside the island.
They found Hoopa Unbound in the center of the island. Perhaps because it had been defeated in its previous battle with Ash, its temper had become even more irritable. It was bullying the ordinary Pokémon it had gathered around itself.
Those Pokémon, controlled by Hoopa’s summoning rings, didn’t dare to resist and could only endure Hoopa’s abuse with tears in their eyes.
Just then, countless vines suddenly burst from the ground and, in the blink of an eye, bound all of Hoopa Unbound’s limbs tightly.
Startled and frightened, Hoopa Unbound shouted, "Who is it?! Who attacked Hoopa?!"
No sooner had it finished speaking than a huge golden ring appeared in the sky, and Lugia emerged from it, unleashing a Dragon Pulse straight at Hoopa.
The moment Hoopa Unbound saw the ring, it immediately knew who had come. Without time to panic, it quickly gathered a dark ball of energy in its chest, which transformed into an energy wave that collided directly with Lugia’s Dragon Pulse.
Boom!
A violent explosion erupted with a deafening boom, and only then did Hoopa Unbound begin to curse furiously: "Damn it! Damn it! So damn annoying!"
While swearing, it twisted its body wildly, trying to break free from the vines that bound it. However, those vines, glowing faintly green, were unexpectedly sturdy—it couldn’t break loose at all, not even with all its struggling.
The island was covered with vegetation, filled with abundant Grass-type energy. The vines that were binding Hoopa Unbound drew strength continuously from the earth, constantly reinforcing themselves.
Realizing it couldn’t break free anytime soon, Hoopa Unbound immediately roared at the Pokémon surrounding it, "What are you standing there for? Attack! All of you, attack that annoying thing in the sky!"
Under normal circumstances, none of those Pokémon would dare attack the god of the sea, but at this moment, controlled by Hoopa’s summoning rings, they had no choice but to obey its command against their will.
Although the Pokémon Hoopa had gathered were mostly a ragtag group, their sheer number was staggering. In an instant, a barrage of multicolored attacks launched into the air, aiming for Lugia.
Lugia, however, remained calm and composed. It didn’t even try to dodge. Suddenly, rectangular light walls appeared before it in the sky, refracting beautiful rays of color under the sunlight.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The attacks slammed against the light walls but failed to penetrate their defense.
Then, a Chimecho suddenly appeared beside Lugia, swaying its body as it rang out with waves of crisp and melodious chimes.
The attacking Pokémon continued to unleash their moves. Chimecho’s eyes flickered with rapid pulses of light, and one after another, more light walls appeared, blocking all the incoming attacks from reaching Lugia.
While Lugia was being occupied like this, Hoopa Unbound seized the opportunity and continued its desperate struggle to escape the vines. With a flash, it used the move Teleport and switching places with an ordinary Pokémon. In the next second, the one bound by the vines was no longer Hoopa—it was now a Nidoking.
"Hahahaha..."
Freed, Hoopa laughed loudly as it flew into the air, mocking Ash and the others hiding in the shadows. But before it could even finish, a Gardevoir suddenly teleported right in front of it.
Both of Gardevoir’s hands lit up with dazzling rainbow light. Before Hoopa could react, Gardevoir slammed the colorful energy straight into its face.
It was the Fairy-type move, Dazzling Gleam, which just happened to be super effective against Hoopa’s Dark typing.
BOOM!!!
With a thunderous crash, Hoopa was blasted to the ground, smashing a large crater into the earth and pained groans could be heard coming from the pit.
Meanwhile, a Vivillon flew out from the forest. The powder on its wings shimmered in the sunlight, scattering sparkling particles as it fluttered overhead. As it passed above the Pokémon still under Hoopa’s control, it released a wave of Sleep Powder—and soon, one by one, the controlled Pokémon began to fall into a deep slumber.
Hoopa sat up from the crater, just about to strike back at Gardevoir in the sky, when Lugia, now with its hands free, opened its mouth and unleashed a Hyper Beam, flooding the area in golden light.
As the beam’s light faded, Hoopa stood battered and disheveled in the crater, glaring viciously at Lugia and growling:
"It’s you who pushed Hoopa! Hoopa is angry now! Hoopa is angry now!"
As Hoopa shouted, the three summoning rings on its body suddenly floated up into the air and instantly grew enormously in size. Immediately afterward, three Pokémon emerged from the rings.
"Zapdos~" "Moltres~" "Articuno~"
A yellow bird, a red bird, and a blue bird flapped their wings wildly in the sky, and lightning, flames, and icy air began to wreak havoc across the island.
These three Pokémon were clearly none other than Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno. But they weren’t just ordinary legendary pokemon—they were the ones known as the God of Thunder, the God of Flame, and the God of Ice. Not only were they extraordinarily powerful, but they also had the ability to easily alter the world’s climate.
If the three of them were allowed to run wild without restraint, it would cause severe climate anomalies across various parts of the world, which would result in serious consequences.
When Lugia saw these three Pokémon appear, its eyes widened in disbelief. It had absolutely no idea how these three idiots had ended up under Hoopa’s control again. Lugia had thought they’d at least learned their lesson from the last time with Jiruluta.
The three legendary birds were considered Lugia’s subordinates. But now, once again, they had so easily fallen into someone else’s trap. This made Lugia feel thoroughly humiliated.
As expected, with the arrival of the three legendary birds, the environment around the island began to change dramatically. Thick clouds gathered overhead, lightning flickered through the sky, and at the same time, the surface of the surrounding sea began to freeze rapidly.
Seeing this, Yuga knew it was time for the countermeasures he had prepared to come into play. He stepped out from the shadows and shouted toward the sky.
"Mewtwo!"
This time, he had actually brought Mewtwo with him. Mewtwo was always holed up in the lab, but after Yuga persuaded it for quite a while, it finally agreed to come out and get some fresh air.
Up in the sky, Mewtwo had been observing the battle along with Dusknoir, Gengar, and Mismagius. Hearing Yuga’s call, it looked at the three Pokémon beside it, and they immediately understood. The three Pokémon split up and flew in three directions toward different parts of the island.
Mewtwo then dove at high speed and landed beside Yuga in an instant.
"Get those Pokémon out of here!" Yuga pointed at the unconscious, ordinary Pokémon and ordered.
Mewtwo nodded and, in the blink of an eye, disappeared from the island along with those Pokémon.
Once Mewtwo rose back into the sky, it used its psychic power to send a signal to Gengar, Mismagius, and Dusknoir. The three Pokémon instantly activated their combined move, and the entire island was suddenly enveloped in a strange kind of space. The three legendary birds and Hoopa were all sealed inside it.
An invisible spatial barrier covered the island, and from the outside, it looked as though the island had completely vanished from the ocean’s surface.
As soon as the space was fully constructed, the dark clouds and lightning above the island began to gradually dissipate, and the freezing of the ocean surface also stopped.
Now trapped inside the space, the three legendary birds could no longer influence the outside environment.
Of course, with just the strength of Gengar, Mismagius, and Dusknoir, they wouldn’t have been able to block the environmental effects of the legendary birds. But with Mewtwo’s involvement, it was an entirely different story.
The combined move of the three ghost Pokémon had already become very refined, but due to their limited power, the space they created was relatively weak—strong enough to trap ordinary Pokémon, but certainly not divine beasts.
However, with Mewtwo acting as a support pillar through its immense psychic power, the space was massively reinforced, becoming much stronger and more stable.
In fact, Yuga hadn’t originally prepared this move with the legendary birds in mind. After all, he wasn’t a prophet. This was all prepared for Hoopa. Once Hoopa was inside the space, escaping using its summoning rings would no longer be so easy.
Hoopa, being highly sensitive, very quickly sensed that something was wrong. The wind and wave sounds on the island had miraculously disappeared entirely.
