Chapter 1479: Voyage at Sea: Kingdra and the Feraligatr’s Wrath
Chapter 1479: Voyage at Sea: Kingdra and the Feraligatr’s Wrath
Primarina had insisted on singing for over two hours straight. Yuga noticed its voice beginning to change and gently patted it.
"All right, take a break."
Primarina’s singing came to an abrupt stop. It turned its head to look at Yuga, hesitated for a moment, then finally gave a slight nod.
Yuga pulled out the drink that Doudou had prepared in advance from his backpack and handed it over, saying, "Drink something to soothe your throat."
Doudou had specially added Sweet Honey to the drink, which was very helpful for relieving a sore throat.
Primarina took the drink and sipped it. Immediately, the burning pain in its throat eased considerably. It then expressed its gratitude to Yuga for taking care of it.
The Pokémon that had gathered below the reef to listen to Primarina sing were now all staring at it eagerly since the music had stopped. Yuga stood up and glanced at them, and only then did those Pokémon realize there was an unfamiliar creature here as well.
It’s not that none of the Pokémon had ever seen Yuga before—some had seen him previously and still had a faint memory. After all, humans didn’t exist on this island, so the first time they saw one, it left a strong impression.
Frightened by Yuga’s presence, the Pokémon quickly scurried away.
Seeing that most of the Pokémon had fled, Yuga sat down beside Primarina and said, "Singing like this doesn’t really give you a good chance of finding your kin."
Primarina looked out at the vast ocean upon hearing that, and for a moment, sorrow appeared in its eyes.
Yuga originally wanted to say, "Since you can’t find them, why don’t we just go home?" But he couldn’t bear to say it, so instead he offered, "Have you ever thought about going out to sea to search?"
Primarina was stunned for a moment upon hearing that, then shook its head. It didn’t dare.
The waters around the island were untouched by humans, belonging to a primitive sea region far from the mainland, and they were home to many powerful Pokémon. If Primarina wandered about recklessly, it might not even survive.
The migration route of its kind was fixed and had been explored and established through the blood and sacrifices of its ancestors. This year was Primarina’s first time migrating with its kin, so it had no idea what the exact route was.
Since being separated from its group, it had been chased multiple times by other Pokémon. If it weren’t fast, it might’ve long become some wild Pokémon’s droppings.
These traumatic experiences had left a psychological shadow. It dared not stay long in the deep sea alone, let alone venture out to search for its group.
After much hesitation, Yuga finally said, "How about I go out to sea with you and search for a while?"
The moment he said it, he felt a pang of regret. He had wanted Primarina to stay, after all. If they really did find its group, was he supposed to just hand Primarina over? That would be such a loss!
Sigh... Words once spoken are like water spilled. In the end, he was just too kindhearted! Yuga thought silently to himself.
Hearing Yuga’s words, Primarina’s eyes lit up. It immediately asked, "Really?"
Yuga nodded with difficulty.
Primarina clapped its fins together joyfully.
Yuga then added, "But the timing’s not right today. It’s not a good idea to go out right now. How about we go back and make preparations, and set out tomorrow instead?"
Primarina thought for a moment and agreed. It had waited all these days already, so one more day didn’t matter. Having Yuga agree to go out to sea with it was already a pleasant surprise.
After spending the past few days with Yuga, Primarina had come to fully understand how powerful he was. With him accompanying it, even if they couldn’t find the group, at least its safety would be assured.
Since the decision had been made, Yuga and Primarina didn’t linger by the sea any longer and returned home directly.
Once home, Yuga told Doudou about his plan to take Primarina out to sea for two days and asked it to help prepare some supplies.
Yuga didn’t plan to take Primarina too far—two days would be enough. If they couldn’t find anything, then it could only be chalked up to fate.
Afterward, Yuga went to see Dusknoir. He intended to take the ghost ship out to sea so the journey would be more comfortable.
Early the next morning, Doudou was already busy helping Yuga prepare the things needed for the trip. Watching the bustling Doudou, Yuga suddenly said, "Why don’t you come along with me? Just treat it like a vacation."
Doudou was clearly tempted upon hearing that, but after thinking about the mountain of responsibilities left at home, it hesitated again.
Yuga noticed its concerns and smiled. "Things will be fine even if you’re gone for two days. Don’t we still have Clefairy, Gothitelle, and Blissey? They’ll take care of everything at home."
After thinking it over, Doudou found the reasoning sound. It was also a good opportunity to test how the others handled things in its absence, so it nodded and agreed.
Seeing this, Yuga said, "Then hurry and go tell Gothitelle and the others."
"Audino~"
Doudou responded cheerfully and quickly ran off. Yuga also headed downstairs to inform Suzuki Sonoko that he would be away for two days and asked her to keep an eye on the shop’s business.
After settling things at home, Doudou returned to continue packing. Since it was now coming along too, they needed to adjust what to bring. For example, they no longer needed to carry pre-made food. Doudou could cook fresh meals on the ghost ship as long as there were enough ingredients.
At the doorway, Ninetales watched Doudou happily rushing about and said with a hint of jealousy, "Isn’t that nice. You’re all going out to have fun, just leaving me behind at home..."
Doudou replied without even looking up, "You’re the one who didn’t want to come."
This time, Yuga and the others were heading out to sea. But Ninetales, being a Fire-type Pokémon, found the damp sea air unpleasant and had declined Yuga’s invitation.
Besides, Diantha would be filming a jewelry commercial in a few days and had invited Ninetales to participate. Ninetales had already agreed, so before leaving, Yuga would transfer it to Diantha’s location.
"Sure, I said I didn’t want to go, but now you’re all leaving and looking so happy about it. Of course I feel bitter," Ninetales grumbled, especially since even Doudou and Nana had been invited along.
"You can’t expect me not to be happy about it," Doudou said helplessly.
"Hmph~" Ninetales flicked its tails in annoyance and stormed out of the room.
Once everything was ready, Yuga and the group set off aboard the ghost ship, and soon, the vast ocean came into view.
Primarina sat at the bow of the ship, staring at the ocean just ahead, its heart pounding with excitement. Perhaps this time, it really might find its family.
With that thought, its heart filled with gratitude toward Yuga.
Yuga released all his Pokémon. Everyone gathered on deck to hold a barbecue party. The Ghost-type Pokémon who had no duties aboard the ship were also invited. In no time, the deck was buzzing with lively chatter and laughter.
Doudou, Florges, and Mismagius worked together to prepare food for everyone. All the Pokémon ate until their bellies were round and full.
In the midst of laughter and merriment, the ghost ship descended onto the ocean surface. Guided by the Ghost-type Pokémon, it steadily sailed toward the depths of the sea.
Using what little memory it had left, Primarina directed the Ghost-type Pokémon at the helm in the direction it remembered.
Yuga reclined in a lounge chair, munching on grilled meat while gazing at the endless sea. He sighed contentedly, "It’s nice to relax and unwind once in a while."
Nana sat beside him and glanced over when she heard that but didn’t say a word. Thinking she might want some barbecue too, Yuga handed her a skewer.
"Here—you want some?"
Nana turned her head away and completely ignored him. Yuga immediately understood—this wasn’t Nana, it was Shasha.
"Tch, seriously? When did they switch places? It was Nana just a moment ago," Yuga muttered softly.
Shasha heard Yuga’s muttering and turned his head to glance at him again. Yuga had no choice but to smile and say, "Haha, it’s been a while since you came out too. Take this chance to have some fun. Don’t keep wearing that serious face all the time."
Although Shasha didn’t respond to Yuga, their relationship had already improved a lot. In the past, he wouldn’t have even sat next to him. Now, aside from not talking much, he wasn’t that different from any other Pokémon.
After thinking for a bit, Shasha asked a Haunter for two skewers of roasted berries and began crunching away. He didn’t eat meat, only vegetables.
Half a day passed in the blink of an eye, and the barbecue party came to an end. With full bellies and satisfied hearts, everyone split into small groups to chat. By this time, the ghost ship had already sailed a good distance away from the island.
With the Ghost-type Pokémon working at full power, the ghost ship traveled very quickly. Now it was in the middle of the ocean, and looking out in any direction, there was nothing but water. Still, the sparkling surface of the sea had its own unique charm.
The weather was pleasant that day. The sea was calm, and the sun was shining brightly. This made Yuga feel like fishing again—it had been a long time. The fishing rod he used was actually a reward from a previous system mission.
However, the Water-type Pokémon in this area seemed to be very clever. They usually ate the bait off the hook without getting caught. Yuga spent ages fishing and caught absolutely nothing.
Unnoticed, the ghost ship entered the area where Primarina had once encountered a tornado. But now, the sea was as calm as ever. Aside from the occasional Remoraid leaping out of the water, there was nothing unusual.
Primarina sat at the bow of the ship, singing its song over and over, but still received no reply.
Suddenly, everyone felt the ghost ship gently rocking. Upon investigating, they discovered that a Kingdra had appeared below Primarina without anyone noticing. It was repeatedly ramming into the side of the ship and shouting at Primarina.
Seeing this Kingdra, Primarina was horrified and backed away in panic onto the deck—because it recognized the Kingdra. It was the same one that had chased after it not long ago.
Back then, this Kingdra had charged in with terrifying ferocity. Its appearance had scared Primarina out of its wits. And since it had been injured at the time, it had no choice but to flee, barely escaping after much effort.
Who would’ve thought they’d meet again today?
As soon as Primarina backed off and vanished from Kingdra’s line of sight, Kingdra became even more agitated. Its ramming attacks against the ship became more violent.
Some Ghost Pokémon even went up to warn it, but Kingdra didn’t care and ignored their warnings completely.
The Ghost-types guarding the ship couldn’t allow Kingdra to behave so arrogantly, so they launched a counterattack.
The first to strike was the ghost ship’s usual enforcer—Dhelmise. It burst out of the sea and used Heavy Slam to charge straight at Kingdra.
But it didn’t expect Kingdra to be so strong. Kingdra was also an Elite level Pokémon and retaliated with a powerful Hydro Pump, sending Dhelmise flying.
However, Dhelmise reacted swiftly mid-air, flinging out two metal chains using Anchor Shot, and accurately wrapped them around Kingdra.
Kingdra let out a miserable cry, but Dhelmise used the pull from the chains to stabilize itself and landed steadily back in the sea.
Taking advantage of the chains binding Kingdra, Dhelmise used Bind, tightening the chains continuously. The tension was so strong that even Kingdra’s crystal-blue scales began to fall off from the pressure.
Kingdra wasn’t about to be captured so easily. It opened its mouth and unleashed an Ice Beam—freezing the chains binding it into solid ice. Immediately after, it summoned a Twister.
The rapidly spinning twister carried sharp wind blades, which instantly shattered the frozen chains into tiny fragments. Dhelmise let out a wail of pain.
The chains were part of its body, and their destruction naturally caused it excruciating pain.
Seeing Dhelmise suffer, the other Pokémon on the ghost ship wanted to rush in to help, but were stopped by Dhelmise itself. It was determined to make Kingdra pay today!
Dhelmise had already reached Elite level when it first joined Yuga. Afterward, Yuga invested a large number of resources into training it. Though it was still struggling to break through to Champion level, it was already an exceptionally strong presence among Elite level Pokémon. Who would have thought it would be beaten back today by a wild Pokémon!
Wouldn’t that make it look completely useless?
Furious, Dhelmise suddenly vanished from where it floated. Kingdra was left stunned: Wh-where did it go?
But in the very next moment, Dhelmise reappeared behind it and slammed into it with tremendous force.
Phantom Force, a Ghost-type move!
Kingdra was struck hard and tumbled across the surface of the sea several times, but before it could regain composure, Dhelmise’s chain reappeared, binding the still-rolling Kingdra once again and hurling it violently away.
Boom!!!
Once it was flung into mid-air, another powerful strike followed—a Power Whip lashed across its body.
The dark green energy whip smacked into Kingdra repeatedly. At last, Kingdra passed out and fell with a loud splash into the ocean below.
But at that moment, another blue silhouette rose from the water, gliding upward atop a surge of water, and with it came an overwhelming aura that spread across the area.
It was a Feraligatr!
"ROOOAAARRR!!!"
Seeing the unconscious Kingdra, Feraligatr let out an earth-shattering roar of fury. It vanished from its spot in an instant and darted across the sea surface, appearing directly opposite Dhelmise in the blink of an eye. With a sweeping Aqua Tail, it struck Dhelmise, sending it flying.
The airborne Dhelmise tried to bind Feraligatr with its chains, but the two metal chains were each grabbed—one in each hand—by Feraligatr.
Feraligatr pulled one chain toward its mouth and bit down hard. The chain immediately froze bit by bit, and the next second, it shattered into pieces.
Ice Fang!
Soon, the second chain met the same fate.
Dhelmise howled in agony. The consecutive destruction of both chains dealt it massive damage.
Standing at the ship’s bow and witnessing the battle, Yuga looked at the newly appeared Feraligatr and thought to himself: "So we beat the younger one, and now the elder’s here for revenge, huh!"
