Idle Money System -
Chapter 127 - 127: Giving a ride home
As Jeff followed the young man who appeared to be around the same age as him, he noticed that his car had already been towed while they walked past the crowd.
On the other side of the road, there was also a luxury car parked, which caught the attention of the people and left them surprised.
It was a red Porsche 718 Cayman parked across the road. Its low frame, sharp curves, and aggressive presence made it impossible to ignore, but it was perfectly ignored earlier.
The car had only two seats, no back seat, and was clearly built for speed rather than comfort.
Sports cars like this weren't something you'd normally find around here. In a country like the Philippines, spotting one was already rare.
Since this country is poor as heck and seeing two in the same place? That was almost unbelievable.
Even the people nearby couldn't help but stop and stare, their expressions a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"Here, big brother. Get inside," the young man said as he opened the passenger door from his seat.
Alexander didn't know what to say about this level of hospitality. He hesitated for a moment, then climbed in and gave a quiet word of thanks.
The young man grinned, clearly ecstatic, "Don't mention it, big brother. I'll drive you now, unless this crowd blocks the driveway," he said with a playful tone.
He then started the engine and smoothly drove off, leaving the murmuring crowd behind.
As they drove away, two girls hurriedly stepped out of the building. Just as they did, a sports car passed by, catching their attention for a brief moment.
From a distance, they noticed a group of people gathered on the other side of the road.
"Is there an accident?" Sophie asked, narrowing her eyes.
"I don't think so. I don't seem to see any ambulance," Claire replied, pointing toward the crowd.
"And look they're already starting to leave."
After finding out that Alexander had quit, Claire was furious. He did not even bother to tell her anything.
Sophie was not feeling well either. Even though they had only known each other for a few days, the friendship they shared was still there. It hurt that he left without saying a word.
"Alexander must have already taken a ride and left. Can you try to call him?" Sophie asked softly.
"I can't. The phone is connecting, but no one is picking up," Claire said, her voice laced with frustration.
It felt as if Alexander was ignoring them. What they did not know was that inside Alexander's room, the phone kept ringing, left unattended on the bed.
Eventually, the call ended on its own. It was the fifth missed call.
"Hmm, maybe his phone is on silent mode or he left it somewhere. Let's go back to the restaurant and get to work. Since we're already late for the opening," Sophie said to her.
Claire was still unwilling to give up, but without any lead on where he went, she could not just wander around aimlessly. There was no point in searching without a clue.
With that, the two of them returned to the restaurant. Soon after opening, customers began to arrive, filling the place with the usual hum of activity.
While on the road, Alexander glanced at the young man beside him. He had short hair, stood tall, and carried a handsome look that would catch anyone's attention.
However, when compared to Alexander, the difference was clear. Alexander's charisma was on another level, something that could not be matched by looks alone.
"Where are you going, big brother?" the young man asked, breaking the silence.
Alexander felt a little strange being called big brother. It was a bit too familiar for someone he had just met.
"Why are you calling me big brother?" he asked, glancing at the young man.
"You must be a rich young master just from this car alone, am I right?" The young man let out a snicker, clearly amused.
"Big brother, you're making me laugh. Of course I'll call you big brother. You look way cooler and definitely richer than me. Besides, my car is nothing compared to yours," he said with a cheerful laugh.
"Oh yeah, big brother, what's your name?" the young man asked curiously.
"Alexander," he replied calmly.
"Ah, I see. So it's big brother Alexander," the young man said with a smile.
"My name is Jeff Anzon. Nice to meet you."
He gave Alexander a quick glance and smiled warmly, clearly pleased to make his acquaintance.
Seeing how energetic Jeff was while driving made the smile beneath Alexander's mask tremble slightly.
"Big brother, don't you feel hot? Why don't you take that off?" Jeff asked, glancing over at him.
"Also, we've just been driving around without a clear direction. Where do you want to go, big bro?"
"Oh, sorry about that," Alexander replied calmly. "
My destination is Summit Heights. Go ahead and take me there."
"Summit Heights? Wow, you really are rich, big bro. I'll make a U-turn first," Jeff said, clearly impressed.
But after thinking for a moment, this must be makes sense.
As he continued driving toward Summit Heights, his hand on the steering wheel began to feel a little itchy. He kept adjusting his grip, shifting slightly in his seat.
Alexander noticed this for a while now, "What seems to be the problem?" he asked, eyes narrowing slightly.
"Well..." Jeff went quiet for a moment, then finally spoke his mind.
"It's like this," Jeff began, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Would it be alright if I test drive your car? I've never ridden in something that grand before. If you won't allow me to drive it, at least let me sit inside for a few minutes. Just to open up my eyes a bit."
Alexander could see that the young man was truly a car fanatic. Since it was only a simple test drive, he did not see any reason to refuse. That alone made Jeff incredibly happy, his face lighting up with excitement.
"Sure," Alexander said with a calm tone. "But I do not know when I will be able to get my car out from the impounding area."
"Oh, that is not a problem," Jeff replied with a proud smile.
"If you want, I can take care of it right now and even have it delivered straight to your home."
"Oh, you can?" Alexander asked, surprised that Jeff would go this far just for a chance to drive the car.
"Of course I can, big brother," Jeff replied with confidence.
The two continued chatting during the ride. Alexander did not mind the conversation and found it easy to talk with him.
Before long, they reached the base of the mountain and stopped at the gates of Summit Heights.
"Brother, we are here," Jeff announced.
Alexander gave a slight nod and responded calmly, "Alright. Just drop me off here. I can walk the rest of the way up."
Just before Alexander stepped out of the car, he suddenly remembered something. He reached into his pocket and tossed a set of keys toward Jeff.
"Here is the key," Alexander said.
"If you can get the car out, you can play with it as much as you want. Just make sure you bring it back."
Jeff caught the keys with both hands. When he looked down and realized what he was holding, his eyes widened in disbelief.
It felt like a treasure resting in his palms. Gripping it tightly, he could barely contain his excitement.
"Thank you, big brother. Thank you very much," Jeff said, full of gratitude.
Alexander simply nodded and stepped out of the car. Without wasting a second, Jeff drove off at high speed, clearly heading straight for the impounding area to retrieve the car.
As Alexander entered through the large gates of Summit Heights, he was immediately greeted by Kent, who gave him a puzzled look.
"Young master, where is your car?" Kent asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
"I gave it to someone to borrow," Alexander replied naturally.
He was not going to admit that on his first ride, the car had been taken to the impounding area because of a traffic violation.
That would have been far too embarrassing.
Kent simply nodded and did not ask any more questions. It was not part of his duties to pry.
He considered offering Alexander a ride back to his residence, but Alexander politely declined. With that, he took the road leading toward his home on foot.
