I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 66: Mysterious Onesie

Chapter 66: Mysterious Onesie

Of course, the fact that the exact same onesie that Felix had seen in the crystal ball was available in the shop didn’t mean anything. The witch also lived in Silverfall, and who knows what he was up to when he wasn’t busy lazing around on Felix’s bed as a fox? He might have very well been here and seen it. Maybe he could have even cast a spell on the shop owner to purchase fox onesies and put them on sale? Either way, that meant nothing.

And Brielle. The mermaid pulled it out from ’3-6 months’ section, when they were shopping for Felix’s pup, who had yet to be born.

Coincidence? Felix didn’t think so! Brielle was the witch’s friend, after all. This could have very well been planned.

He gave Brielle a dubious look, lifting his brows as he asked, "And why would that be? Wouldn’t a wolf onesie be more suitable?"

"Ah? I guess that would be nice as well, if there is one." Brielle turned back to the clothing racks, rummaging through the clothes as she looked at what was available. "But this one would match with your fox! Wouldn’t that be nice?"

Well, Felix wasn’t exactly opposed to it. The onesie was cute, so he might as well buy it. Still, he was curious. "Did the witch ask you to recommend this one?"

"The witch?" Brielle furrowed her brows. "Hmm, I guess he would like that, but we didn’t talk about it or anything. I just saw it, and thought it would be fun."

She sounded genuine. But Felix couldn’t help but press further, "Are you sure? I really need to know it."

Brielle paused, surprised by the serious tone. "It’s truly just that. Why do you ask?"

"Well..." Felix hesitated for a moment, throwing a quick glance in the direction of the cash register, where the shop assistant was texting on her phone. It wasn’t any big secret though, so in the end, he said, "I went to the witch’s house again the other day, and I saw this onesie in the crystal ball. An identical one."

"Oh. I get it." The mermaid looked at the onesie in her hands again. "But I really didn’t know."

"Then... Does that mean the visions in the crystal ball are true?" Felix pressed his lips, staring at Brielle intently, both a bit excited and nervous, but the mermaid just shook her head.

"Sorry, but I wouldn’t know. He doesn’t tell me things like that, since those are his ’trade secrets’, as he says."

"...Oh." Felix’s shoulders dropped slightly in disappointment. A moment later, though, he just shrugged it off.

At the end of the day, it wasn’t important whether the visions were true or not, since the future wasn’t set in stone anyway. There was something else he was more concerned about... But it shouldn’t be discussed in public, so he had no choice but to temporarily push it aside.

They left the shop not long later. With only one bag, as there were other places they also wanted to check, so there was no point buying too much right away. Felix only got a few things he liked the most...

And a certain orange onesie. Because why not.

After four more hours of walking from shop to shop, browsing through clothes, toys, blankets, toiletries, and other necessities, the trunk of Brielle’s car was stuffed to the brim with baby things. Now the only things remaining to purchase were a crib and a pram.

For the time being, of course. Until the baby grew bigger, and needed new clothes.

"There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask," Felix said as soon as they got in the car. "Is the witch sick?"

It’s been on his mind ever since that night when the witch had shown him the future. Although Remi seemed fine afterwards - a bit haggard right after he returned, but he got better after a good night’s sleep - Felix still couldn’t stop thinking about how pale the witch looked in the crystal ball’s glow, or his shaking hands. So, he tried to ask Brielle...

And the mermaid visibly tensed up at the question. "What do you mean? How could he be sick?" She forced a smile. "He’s a witch, if he were sick, he’d just make himself a potion! Or ask me for blood."

"But your blood doesn’t work on everything, does it?"

Brielle’s fingers tightened on the wheel. An uncomfortable silence fell in the car. The mermaid couldn’t really deny it, as it was something she had told Felix herself, and she had no good reason to lie...

"...Let’s pretend we never had this conversation," she eventually said.

And Felix didn’t press any further. He had already expected she wouldn’t tell him much. After all, while she was always eager to tell him random trivia from the witch’s life, she never divulged any important information... And besides, her lack of answer was already telling enough.

Although that wasn’t exactly what Felix wanted to hear.

"Don’t worry too much," Brielle added after a while, noticing Felix’s dark expression. "Even if he is... feeling a bit uncomfortable at times, he knows how to manage it. And he isn’t in any immediate danger or anything. So, don’t feel bad for him, and treat him as usual, okay?"

"...Mn. Alright." Felix nodded his head. If that’s what the mermaid said... She knew the witch for a long time, so she probably knew what she was talking about.

But he no longer would try to chase the fox away from the bed with tickles. And he wouldn’t use that bag of black liquorice he hid in his cupboard. He didn’t want to bully a sick person.

...Or so he thought. But perhaps Remi indeed wasn’t as sick as he thought! Since he still had more than enough energy to do mischief! The very next day after Felix had made up his mind to be nice, he woke up with the fox under his shirt!

Truly, such a perverted fox didn’t deserve any pity! A small liquorice ’surprise’ in his breakfast was needed instead!
