I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL] -
Chapter 54: A Dangerous Creature
Chapter 54: A Dangerous Creature
When Felix returned home from his visit to the witch, Remi was already waiting for him at home. Curled up on the bed, pretending to sleep.
Even though his ears clearly twitched when Felix stepped in.
And the smell of jasmine on him was way too strong, as if he had just bathed in jasmine perfume... or jasmine-scented smoke.
Who did he think he was fooling? Maybe on a human it would work, but Felix was a wolf!
Stupid fox. Felix had suspected it ever since his first visit to the witch’s house, when he caught a whiff of jasmine. Maybe not the whole truth, but at least that there was a connection between them. And Remi’s further actions only strengthened his suspicions.
Now only one important question remained: why was Remi even clinging to him in the first place? Not that Felix complained, he benefited a lot from having the fox with him, but... That didn’t mean it was any less concerning. It could be argued that after all this time, Remi became fond of the Omega, but he has been rather clingy from day one! And while Felix was by no means a fox expert, it did seem like unusual behavior...
He sat down on the bed, and lightly stroked Remi’s soft head, a quiet purr escaping the fox’s throat as Felix’s hand moved from the top to the back... He stirred, slowly lifting his head and yawning, pretending he had just woken up...
But then, all of a sudden, Felix gripped onto his neck, and lifted him up.
"Yiiiiip!" Remi let out a loud yelp, surprised, his whole body flinching.
Felix stared into those piercing blue eyes, the ones he didn’t get to see in the human form because of the wide brim of the hat, ignoring Remi’s heart-wrenching whining. He was rather angry, all things considered, and annoyed. This stupid fox had been trying to keep such big secrets from him, despite pretty much forcing his way into his house. And even now, when he practically revealed himself to Felix - he couldn’t possibly think Felix wouldn’t realize he was the witch, now could he? He must have expected it already, that’s why he was so stubbornly avoiding the meeting for so long! - Remi still insisted on acting as if there was nothing wrong!
Felix was angry, and he was getting even more annoyed at those puppy eyes Remi had no right to make right now, but...
But could he actually call the fox out? Even if he wanted the answers, was it a good idea to question Remi? What if Remi decided that it wasn’t worth it, clinging to Felix, once the whole truth was out in the open? He could easily leave, and Felix wouldn’t be able to do anything at all about that...
And Felix didn’t want Remi to leave. Despite all the secrets, all the uncertainty, he still felt safer with the fox around. While he was still physically stronger - no matter how tall and muscular Remi in his human form was (and he was... great, Felix had to admit that, even if not quite as tall as Kade), he was still a fox, while Felix was a wolf. Even being an Omega, Felix had the natural advantage - Remi was the witch. Capable of casting spells. Such as that time he saved Felix from that rogue back in January...
Not to mention all the tonics and herbal medicine he could get from the witch. During his pregnancy, after birth, and then once his heat cycle returned... And if he ever got sick... While he didn’t know the witch’s prices - so far he got everything for free - he doubted Remi would ever charge him more than the pharmacy.
And on top of that all, he got used to the fox’s presence. He’d feel lonely without his little cuddly bed-warmer.
All things considered, it was a connection he couldn’t afford to lose.
So, he eventually let out a sigh, and put Remi, who had already gotten tired of whining and gone silent, back on the bed. "What am I going to do with you?" he muttered, getting up and opening the drawers to look for some clothes to change into before going to sleep.
Remi lowered his head in response, flattering his ears against his head, his eyes dodging to the side, feeling guilty as he should. But Felix was no longer paying any attention to him, he just grabbed the clothes and went to the bathroom. He had been avoiding changing in front of Remi for a while now, and there was no way he was going to so much as lift his shirt now, not after meeting the fox - the man - in his human form! Remi might have been fine exposing his chest, but Felix had been taught to be much more reserved!
Not that he minded the witch’s liking of exposure, but he wouldn’t admit it out loud.
And so, their life continued as always in a silent agreement. Remi kept on pretending to be just a fox, while Felix acted as if he was fooled by that. He went about his days as normal, going to work, doing the chores, cooking for himself and Remi, and then doing pottery in his free time...
And going to sleep in the same bed, with Remi curled up by his side, with his head resting on the Omega’s chest, and his tail tickling Felix’s skin, even through a layer of clothes. Although, unlike before, Felix couldn’t just cuddle back and relax. Because every time he did, he couldn’t help but remember that well-sculpted pecs, wide shoulders, and that sharp jawline...
Which always, without fail, resulted in his face burning up. It also didn’t help that his imagination took things a step further, filling in the blanks!
How could Felix get a good night’s rest, when his head was all muddled up? Foxes were truly extremely dangerous creatures, after all!
Maybe it was a good thing Remi insisted on hiding his human form.
