I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 49: The Secret Uncovered

Chapter 49: The Secret Uncovered

Kade’s question sent cold shivers down Felix’s spine.

Did he know? Or suspect something? Felix had been trying to conceal it the best he could, but... Honestly, he himself had no confidence in the effectiveness of his efforts.

Still, since he already decided to try to hide it, he might as well stubbornly stick to it till the end. So he said, trying to sound confident, "I still need to go for a walk."

...Perhaps it wasn’t the best argument, as Kade lifted his brows. "Haven’t you walked enough today?"

Indeed Felix did. With his earlier walk in the park, his shopping trip, and then work, he had walked over 24000 steps, according to his phone. But, changing his argument would only make him look more suspicious, so he ’explained’, "I need to take Remi for a walk."

"...Your fox?"

"Yes," Felix nodded his head. "He gained too much weight recently, so I have to make sure he is active enough!"

An offended scoff came from the bedroom, as Remi expressed his opinion on Felix’s comment, but Felix ignored him. He would make up with the fox later, now he had to focus on Kade.

And Kade was not buying it. "Your fox had gained weight?" he asked, slightly amused by the Omega’s excuse...

And then, all of a sudden, he moved closer, and grabbed the pull tab of the jacket’s zipper. Felix instinctively tried to move away, but all it accomplished was pulling the zipper down. And revealing the outline of Felix’s round stomach, clearly visible even under the loose T-shirt, no matter how much he slouched his shoulders. Felix could see it, and Kade could see it, and Felix knew all too well that he did...

"Okay, FINE," he let out a heavy sigh. "I’m the one who gained too much weight. But what, are you going to complain? Weren’t you the one who wanted to fatten me up, huh?"

"I did, yes, but..." Kade grabbed Felix’s wrist, and lifted it up. "If you really have gained weight, why are your wrists still so thin?"

"Ugh." Felix’s cheeks flushed, and he forcefully pulled his hand away. Or, well, at least tried. "I just have weird fat distribution. If you don’t like it, don’t look!"

But Kade did look. In fact, he went so far as to grab the hem of Felix’s T-shirt, and lift it up. Felix’s stomach came into full view - a proudly protruding dome, much too tight and smooth to be fat, as he claimed.

And as if it wasn’t enough, Kade poked it gently. Earning himself a kick from the pup in response.

"Are you done?!" Felix finally freed himself from Kade, and backed away, pulling his T-shirt back down. All the blood drained from his face, and his heart was thumping loudly in his chest, panic taking over him as he noticed the dark look in Kade’s eyes.

Oh, Goddess. He was doomed, wasn’t he?

"R-remember our deal!" he called out, before Kade even were able to say anything.

"...Our deal?" Kade’s voice was so low, almost growling, that Felix’s heart seemed to stop for a moment in a mini heart attack.

Still, he managed to utter, "Y-yeah! W-we agreed th-that you’ll s-save my life, n-no?"

It only made Kade confused. The Alpha furrowed his brows, and asked, "Are you experiencing any pregnancy complications?"

"H-huh? No, why do you think so?"

"Then..." Kade paused, as the implication behind Felix’s words finally hit him. "...Is that why you made that deal? Why you decided on this condition?"

Something flashed through his face, something that looked suspiciously like an ache. It was gone in a blink, but even that was enough to cause Felix to hesitate. He remained silent, not knowing what to say. Yes, that was precisely why he asked for it. And yes, that was only based on his assumption, protecting himself from the worst-case scenario...

But if Kade wasn’t that cruel... Then how would he feel? Not that Felix was in a position where he could afford to care about the Alpha’s feelings, but...

"Never mind that now." Eventually, Kade let out a sigh. "How far along are you?"

"...28 weeks."

"So, Jared Thorne is the father?"

Felix remained silent.

But Kade didn’t need the answer. He already knew when Felix went ’missing’, so all he needed was to just make a quick calculation in his head, and he realized that the beginning of the pregnancy coincided with the Omega’s escape. It didn’t take a genius to put two and two together.

"Does he know?" he asked next. "That you’re pregnant."

Felix pressed his lips. Now THAT was a stupid question. No pregnancy test could detect the conception that fast, and naturally, Felix wouldn’t be so stupid as to inform Jared he is carrying his pup after he had already run away! What could he possibly hope to achieve, entice Jared to search for him even harder? As if! He wanted a peaceful life, not to engage in some sick game of cat and mouse!

If he admitted to Kade that Jared didn’t know about the pup, though... What would Kade do? Felix didn’t know, and did not want to know. Everything in his life had finally started coming together, from work to how to manage to take care of his pup as a single parent... He didn’t want any Alpha to ruin it for him!

And Kade proved to be an unpredictable force in his life, as he said, interrupting the long silence, his tone low and dark, "Should I kill him?"

At the word ’kill’, Felix instinctively got defensive, taking a step back until he hit the wall, and wrapping his arms around his stomach like a protective barrier, before his brain even fully processed what Kade had just said.

His reaction didn’t escape the Alpha’s attention. And that weird emotion flashed once again through his face. There was something half-angry, half-resigned about his voice, as he said, "Not your pup, Jared Thorne!"

"...Oh." Felix relaxed a bit, but he didn’t drop his hands.

"You don’t want me to?"

"Hmm." Felix hummed lightly, not knowing what to say. Did he want Kade to kill Jared?

...Honestly, he would feel relieved if Jared were dead. He never had even a shred of a positive feeling for the man, and even less now, after he took advantage of his vulnerable state. Because while Felix was in heat, Jared wasn’t experiencing his rut back then, he would have been able to resist if he wanted to. If he had any respect for Felix’s feelings. So, no, Felix had no sympathy left.

However. Asking Kade to kill someone for him? And a leader of another pack, at that? It was not a simple matter! Sure, the Bloodmoon Pack was one of the supremes, and they could afford to get rid of a leader of a medium-sized pack, but it didn’t mean it would be without any repercussions. Without a proper justification, they could face suppression from the other supremes. Their relations weren’t exactly... cordial, after all, at least for the most part.

And some runaway Omega was hardly enough of a reason to justify that.

Thus, if Kade did it for him, Felix would owe him a debt he could never repay.

So, he let out a quiet sigh. "Don’t bother. That’s MY problem."

"YOUR problem?"

"Yeah. Now that you know everything... Don’t you think it’s time to finally end it?"
