I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 32: Whimpers and Growls

Chapter 32: Whimpers and Growls

The car’s door opened, and Kade stepped out. In another one of his fancy suits, of course.

Had he still been awake? Or did he get changed before chasing after Felix? Or did he simply sleep in a suit?

...No, that notion was too ridiculous, even for a filthy rich, dumb Alpha.

Either way, looking annoyingly good as always, Kade looked around, assessing the situation.

"I leave you alone for a moment, and you instantly get in trouble?" he said eventually with a sigh, shaking his head in exasperation. Exasperation that wasn’t believable at all, because of the amused smile playing on his lips.

Felix only snarled in response, and barely spared the Alpha a glance, before turning to the unknown wolf. His attitude clearly said, ’You’re not needed here, I have everything under control.’ Yes, he was actually relieved to see Kade for a change, since the Alpha could resolve the situation in less than a minute, so Felix could go home, but that would create a new set of problems. Felix would owe Kade for yet another thing. Which was the last thing he needed!

And to make things worse, he was in his wolf form. Which meant that his wolfish instincts were stronger now, and that included the mate bond. There was a risk he might lose control, leap to Kade’s side, and start nuzzling against the man’s legs, wagging his tail like a fool.

Correction of the earlier statement: THAT was the last thing he needed.

The unknown wolf took a step back, his wary eyes hung on Kade. He hasn’t backed out, not yet, but was hesitating.

Seeing this, Felix let out yet another low growl. It would be nice if he could end up chasing the wolf away ’on his own’ (while using Kade’s presence as support). Unfortunately for him, the wolf was either incredibly dense, lacked a shred of self-preservation instinct, or was simply desperate for something, as it still stubbornly stuck around.

Meanwhile, Kade finished typing something on his phone, and tossed it back in the car, together with his wallet. And then he shifted.

Just like that.

While wearing his clothes.

His fancy, most certainly ridiculously expensive, custom-made suit.

Needless to say, that elegant outfit ended up torn to shreds.

R.I.P. Fancy Suit (???-2/2/20XX). May you be blessed with a more considerate owner in your next life.

Now, in the place previously taken by a tall, muscular, infuriatingly handsome man, stood a majestic black wolf, scraps of material fluttering in the air around him like fancy confetti. As expected, Kade’s wolf form was also large and spectacular.

Kade slowly stepped forward, placing its paws one by one in a manner that seemed both lazy and intimidating at the same time. He approached Felix and the unknown wolf, situating himself in between them, and then let out a low, guttural growl that sent chills down Felix’s spine, even though it wasn’t directed at him. Kade faced the stranger, releasing his pheromones. As if his mere presence wasn’t domineering enough!

That’s bad,’ a thought flashed through Felix’s head. The pheromones Kade released were meant to overwhelm the opponent - that is, the unknown wolf - but when it came to Felix, his fated mate, they had the opposite effect. Felix barely could restrain himself from not leaping at the Alpha...

Thus, he did the only rational thing he could think of, which was to turn around and walk back home. Kade already intervened, so Felix wouldn’t be able to claim the victory as his own no matter what!

The unknown wolf had already given up as well, running around with his tail curled up.

And Kade, as Kade did, went after Felix. There was no need for him to worry about the car, because a moment later, before they even walked far away for it to disappear from the sight, one of the guards from the Bloodmoon Pack showed up, got in, and drove the car back to the hotel.

They walked in silence - well, of course, they were in their wolf forms, so their communication options were far more limited - Felix leading the way, and Kade walking behind him. Right on his tail. So close, that Felix could almost feel his breath on him, brushing against his fur softly. The pull from the bond was tugging on his nerves, making Felix so tense, that every step felt like a battle with himself, with his own instincts...

Despite all of the challenges, they finally arrived at Felix’s house. Felix pushed the crooked gate with his snout, got inside, and circled to the back of the house, where he always shifted...

And once again, Kade went right after Felix.

Can you not?’ Felix glared at the Alpha, who just stood there, in his tiny, messy backyard, in his overwhelming wolf form.

But Kade just blinked, as if he couldn’t understand what was wrong.

What was wrong was that Felix wanted to go home, but he couldn’t shift when Kade was watching! Because right after shifting, he would be BUTT NAKED. And while last time he checked, the bump wasn’t visible yet - his swollen stomach could easily pass for some bad bloating - he still didn’t want the man to see him undressed! They were not that close!

Felix paced around, annoyed. If the door were unlocked, he could perhaps try to press the handle and push them open, he had never done that in his wolf form, but it seemed doable. But he locked them when leaving, and hid the key under the rubble. Thus, to get inside, he had to transform.

Seeing that Kade was still around for some reason, even as the minutes passed, Felix couldn’t take it any longer. He bared his teeth, and growled...

Or at least attempted to growl. Because what came out of his mouth was much more like whimpers.

What Omega would possibly be able to growl at their fated mate?

Thankfully, despite the growl coming out too whimpery to Felix’s liking, Kade finally got a clue. He whined a bit, but slowly turned around, and walked away, although not without frequent glances back. Felix waited until the Alpha walked a safe distance away, then shifted, and in record speed picked up his stuff, and dashed inside, closing the door shut, and turning the lock twice.

Only then was he finally able to breathe out with relief.

The scent of sandalwood still didn’t seem to go away though, tingling his nose, so Felix quickly threw his clothes on, and barged into the bedroom. Where, just as he expected, Remi was sleeping, curled on the bed. Felix grabbed the unsuspecting fox, paying no mind to the loud yelp it made, and buried his nose in its fur.

"Hush," he muttered, inhaling deeply, as he tried to clean his nose with the jasmine fragrance. "You’re been squatting here without giving anything back in return, so at least let me use you now..."

The fox didn’t oppose. Rather, it... no, he, nuzzled his head against Felix’s, as the scent of jasmine in the air intensified.

...It wasn’t something a normal fox should be able to do, but Felix didn’t point that out. He was already used to the... atypical behavior of his ’pet’. If it was fine with them both, then there was no need to disturb the peaceful life they had together.
