I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 214: Reluctant Acceptance

Chapter 214: Reluctant Acceptance

What was the reason why Wilder Embermane insisted that Felix become the Luna of the Moonhill Pack, that was something that no one really knew, save for Wilder himself. Try as he might, Felix could only make some guesses, while the truth was still out of his reach.

It wasn’t all that important at the moment, though. Regardless of what Wilder had in mind, at the end of the day, what mattered was that because of him, Jared stubbornly refused to let go of Felix. Curses and threats weren’t enough to pressure him into giving up. Would a threat from the Bloodmoon Pack be enough to change his mind? Possibly. It was a supreme pack, capable of wiping the Moonhill Pack out without much trouble, if so they wished. However...

There was a risk that Jared might ask for support from other packs. Wilder used to have a lot of connections, and Jared, as the current leader, probably would be use at least some of them. Normally, it wouldn’t have mattered, but with the conflict between the Bloodmoon Pack and the Misty Claw Pack that was brewing under the surface... The Bloodmoon Pack had to remain cautious. It wouldn’t do them any good to turn more packs against them.

That was why Felix had refused Kade’s help back when Jared had first found him. There was a limit as to how much the Bloodmoon Pack could help him without suffering a backlash themselves. Even Felix understood the situation and the inter-pack politics to realize it, and Einar Blackstone, as the pack’s leader, surely must have considered it all as well. There was no way he would put his pack members in any danger just for Felix’s sake, when Felix wasn’t even Kade’s mate!

And now that he was away from Silverfall, the curse that Remi had put on Jared was probably no longer valid...

Einar was staring at him intently without saying a word. He had called Felix into his office to ’discuss’ the issue... But in fact, wasn’t it more of a command? Did Felix even have any right to say ’no’?

Felix let out a heavy sigh. "I understand."

Whatever was going to happen, for now, he had to cooperate. It was his own mistake that he decided to flee to the Bloodmoon Pack without thinking things through properly, and now he had to suffer the consequences. No matter what deal Einar was going to make with Jared...

"Don’t worry, I won’t allow Jared Thorne to take you away," Einar reassured, guessing Felix’s concerns. "I have allowed Kade to bring you here fully aware of your situation. Naturally, we have already considered all the possible approaches."

Which probably meant that they had been planning to contact the Moonhill Pack from the start, without telling Felix. After all, it wasn’t like the fact that Felix’s true identity would eventually be discovered was something that couldn’t have been foreseen...

It was hardly a pleasing realization for Felix, but he didn’t complain. He was staying in Einar’s pack, naturally, he had to follow the leader’s orders... Or, ’suggestions’. Even if he was dissatisfied, leaving right after causing such a stir in the pack wasn’t a viable option either...

"Thank you for your consideration," he bowed his head, forcing his lips to bend in a polite smile.

Ah, he messed up. He really messed up.

Then again, who knew if staying in Silverfall would have been any better, as he still didn’t know how much he could actually trust Remi...

"Of course," Einar nodded his head. Whether he could tell that Felix’s smile was fake or not, he was satisfied with the Omega’s response. "I will let you know once the Moonhill Pack responds. I assume you would prefer to be updated on the situation?"

"Yes, I would like it very much if that’s alright, thank you!"

Even if the decision were to be made for him, at the very least, he wanted to know what was going on. Preferably even take part in the negotiation. As much as he hated Jared and didn’t want to see the Alpha again, he’d still much rather confront him himself, rather than let others handle everything for him! He wouldn’t insist on it if Einar was unwilling, though, as staying on the Bloodmoon Pack leader’s good side was more important.

"Alright," Einar agreed. "Do you have any questions?"

"No, Sir."

"Then you are dismissed."

Felix bowed his head once again, and stood up. He didn’t finish his coffee, he didn’t even touch it, in fact, nor did he try the cookies... However, unless Einar explicitly asked him to stay for the coffee, he would much rather leave. He had been feeling tense from the start, and after the conversation they just had, he was even more uncomfortable...

How could he possibly enjoy coffee like that? It was a bit of a shame that a good coffee (because it was good. Great, even, most likely a premium brew. Felix could tell that much by the rich fragrance) would go to waste... But he already had too much on his mind to feel too regretful about a single cup of coffee. Besides, he hadn’t even touched it, so who knew, perhaps Einar’s assistant might drink it instead? Probably not, but still.

"Then, if you’ll excuse me," he smiled politely, and left the office, Kade trailing right behind him. Einar opened his mouth and lifted his hand, as if he wanted to stop him...

But in the end, he didn’t say anything, and let Kade go. It seemed that whatever it was that they had to discuss, it wasn’t as urgent as Kade coaxing his potential future mate, who was likely not in the best mood after their meeting.

Kade chased after Felix through the hallways of the office building. Then, through the paths outside, leading to the garden. Then, through the garden, as Felix was heading to the pottery workshop, hoping it would help him clear his mind...

Well, perhaps ’chasing’ wasn’t the right word. Although Felix wasn’t exactly short for an Omega, he wasn’t all that tall either. As for Kade... Kade was towering even among the Alphas. That’s not to say that there wasn’t absolutely anyone taller than him, but there weren’t many. Kade was very tall, and his legs were also very long... While Felix was trying to march away vigorously, as fast as he safely could while carrying Vivi, Kade was only leisurely striding just a step behind him, putting absolutely no effort into catching up. If it wasn’t for the fact that he was hoping to coax Felix, he could have easily overtaken him.

Somehow, Felix found that even more annoying. If Kade wanted to catch up, then he should catch up already, for Goddess’ Sake!

Instead, he was trailing behind, calling after Felix, "Wait up! Slow down! Let’s talk about it!"

What a ridiculous show.

"Young Master Kade," Felix finally stopped, unable to endure it any longer. Although the day was cold, there were a lot of pack members wandering outside, be it tending to their duties, or simply going for a walk. And with Kade chasing after Felix and pleading, the two of them were attracting a lot of attention... At this rate, some crazy rumors were going to start to circulate. Of course, any criticism would be directed primarily at Felix...

But was Kade truly fine with presenting himself like a doormat? A hopeless Alpha who could do nothing but chase after his capricious mate?

"There’s nothing really to talk about," he said with a sigh, turning back to Kade. "I understand the situation very well, and I have no complaints. Whether I like it or not, some things have to be done."

"Then..."

"But it’s still difficult for me. I hope you’ll understand," Felix quickly interrupted before Kade could say anything. "Which is why I would like some time to myself now."

Kade stared at Felix for a while, looking quite helpless. He knew that regardless of what Felix was saying now, the Omega was probably feeling betrayed...

Not that Kade wanted to contact the Moonhill Pack either. To think that he even had to NEGOTIATE his future cute little mate’s fate with someone else, especially someone who was still connected with the fated mate bond with Felix, made him angry, frustrated, disgusted... If he could, then he would have just preferred to dispose of Jared Thorne, and be done with it. Then, pressure the rest of the Moonhill Pack to follow their version of the story.

But the Bloodmoon Pack’s situation at the moment was a bit too sensitive. Even he had to remain cautious...

He wanted to explain it to Felix. But they couldn’t exactly discuss Jared and the Moonhill Pack in public. Even if Felix’s origins were going to be revealed soon, the details of his circumstances still had to remain a secret... So, he could only say, "Alright. I’ll see you in the evening, then?"

"...That’s fine," Felix agreed, before disappearing into his workshop.
