I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 170: Want My Blood, Right?

Chapter 170: Want My Blood, Right?

A mirthless chuckle escaped Felix’s mouth.

So he was right. Remi’s reaction to his words made it all clear. Of course, he had already known it from his conversation with Agnes, but...

His eyes darkened. Even though he had known, he still had hoped that he was wrong. That it had been some ridiculous misunderstanding. That it was just a coincidence that his neck felt exactly the same after Agnes had drawn his blood as it often had during the past months. It was a foolish hope...

But now, even that hope had been squashed.

He stood up abruptly, and went to the kitchen, returning a moment later with a knife.

"What... What are you doing?" Remi muttered, his eyes widening in alarm as he stared at the sharp, long blade in Felix’s hand. The Omega grabbed the best knife that he had...

Felix didn’t answer. He just lifted the knife...

And slashed his wrist.

It happened so fast. In the blink of an eye, the blade flashed, reflecting the yellowish glow from the ceiling lamp, and a moment later, the metallic scent of blood filled the house. Remi jumped to his feet, grabbing Felix’s arm...

The wound wasn’t all that deep. Although the blood flowed down, staining Felix’s hand red and dripping onto the ground, Felix had no plans on giving up on his life. He cut himself hard enough to draw blood, but not to put himself in danger. His actions might have been rash, but he hasn’t completely lost his mind.

His daughter still needed him, after all. Even if he weren’t concerned about his own safety, he wouldn’t leave her behind.

He looked up at Remi with a cold smile. "You want my blood, right? Here you go, take it!"

Remi gulped loudly, staring down at Felix’s wrist. He was holding it tightly, as if trying to stop the bleeding with his own hands, but all that came out of it was that his hands were now also stained with the Omega’s blood... It was trickling down and dripping onto the floor. It was such a waste...

But Remi didn’t dare to drink it, or even collect it for later. It was a precious medicine that could bring him relief and temporarily suppress his curse... But he felt that if he took up Felix’s offer and used his blood now, there would be no going back. Their relationship would be destroyed beyond repair.

So, he muttered a few words instead, stopping Felix’s bleeding with a spell. Then, he pulled out a box from underneath the couch, and took out a small jar from underneath it. It contained some thick, grainy, dark green paste which smelled of herbs and a few other ingredients Felix couldn’t quite identify. Remi scooped out a generous amount of the paste with his fingers, and applied it all over Felix’s wound.

"Don’t touch it for the next hour," he advised. "After that, your wrist should be fine."

Felix stared at Remi without a word. His wound had been tended to, while Remi’s neck was still bleeding a bit... Although whether it was because Remi cared about his well-being more, or whether he didn’t dress up his own wound in hopes of making Felix feel guilty when he saw it, Felix didn’t know.

And he didn’t want to know.

But Remi did look distressed. He had seemed anxious before, when Felix had questioned him... But when Felix had slashed his wrist, and then ’offered’ his blood... Remi looked hurt. As if he had been stabbed right through the heart. He could have been just pretending, but...

Felix averted his eyes. He really didn’t want to get his hopes up again.

Back in the bedroom, Vivi woke up in her crib. Perhaps she had smelled Felix’s blood and sensed that he was injured, because she immediately started wailing so hard she might hurt her throat. Felix was about to rush to her side...

When Remi whispered something, waving his hand, and purple mist spread all around. Vivi let out a three more wails, each much quieter than the previous one, before she went silent again.

"You!" Felix turned back, glaring at Remi.

In return, Remi looked at him with a sad smile, the saddest Felix had ever seen. "It’s just a calming spell. She’s alright, she just fell asleep again."

Of course it was. If it was any other day, Felix wouldn’t think twice of it. If Remi had cast any spell on Vivi, he would automatically assume that was to calm her or generally make her feel better. That’s how much he had trusted the man...

But now it was different. If Remi had been secretly stealing Felix’s blood... Who knows what else he had been lying about? Not to mention, Vivi shared Felix’s bloodline... While she was still an infant, and her eye color still hadn’t fully stabilized, it was still golden-ish. In another month or two, it would most likely become the same shade as Felix’s...

And as Felix had already heard from Agnes, all people with the same golden eyes as his could work as a cure for Remi.

So, he had to go check on Vivi, just in case.

Luckily, the girl truly was alright, sleeping peacefully with a smile on her face. Her complexion was rosy, and her breathing was stable. Even Felix’s wolf was perfectly calm and content, which it most certainly wouldn’t be the case if his daughter was hurt.

"I’m not a monster," Remi’s voice came from behind him. The man followed Felix to the bedroom, but didn’t enter, stopping at the door. "I wouldn’t hurt your pup."

Felix didn’t answer, carefully tucking Vivi to sleep.

"When I realized you were pregnant, I stopped taking your blood," Remi added, anxious to defend himself. "I tried my best to make up for it with various tonics..."

Felix let out a quiet sigh. Yes, now that he thought about it... The itchiness on his neck seemed to have stopped around the time he had met the mermaid for the first time... Which was also when the fox had discovered his pregnancy. And it didn’t return until some time after he gave birth. Of course, that didn’t make everything right, but...

He turned around, meeting Remi’s gaze. They stared at each other in silence...

Finally, after a long while, Remi let out a heavy sigh. "Fine, I’ll... I’ll explain. Let’s just... sit down first. It’s a long story..."
