I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal
Chapter 97: Blast

Chapter 97: Blast

Adam saw that all the men had communication devices. He started to move slowly around the factory keeping to the shadows. He noticed something.

On the west side the factory was connected to another building. He realized that this was where the extra soldiers had come from in the previous loop.

He had an idea. If he could neutralize the men in this other building first it would make his job much easier. He was confident that Johnny would not harm Sophia until he arrived. His previous loop had taught him that much.

He took an automatic rifle from his inventory.

There was only one problem with it. It did not have a silencer. If he wanted to take them down quietly he would have to use his handgun which had fewer bullets.

And once he was discovered his cover would be blown.

He decided on a plan. He would use his silenced pistol first. He would kill as many of them as he could without making a sound. And when he was finally discovered he would switch to the automatic rifle.

With his plan in place he ran towards the wall that separated the building from the street. His agility was now so immense that he cleared the high wall in a single effortless jump. He landed silently on the other side ready to begin his assault.

Adam felt incredibly light. He could now jump three or four times his own height with ease. He could have shattered the wall he had just jumped over with a single punch. But he did not want to make any noise.

He took his silenced pistol from his inventory and put the automatic rifle back. He had more than one automatic rifle in his inventory anyway.

He moved forward slowly. There were no guards outside this building. He realized they had not expected him to attack this location. He saw a window on the first floor.

He backed up a few steps then ran and jumped. He smashed his hand against the window. It was closed and boarded up with wood. But his punch shattered the wood and his hand went through.

He hung there for a moment supported by his one arm. Then he easily broke the rest of the window and climbed inside.

He found himself in what looked like a storeroom. There were large cylinders stacked against the walls. He moved past them to the door and tried to open it. It was locked.

But Adam’s strength was immense now. He pulled on the handle with a little force and ripped the entire lock out of the door. The door swung open easily.

He peered out into a corridor. He realized this was another factory but it was much newer than the one where Sophia was being held. There were doors on both sides of the corridor. At the far end he saw a group of men standing guard.

Beyond them was a balcony that overlooked the main factory floor just like in the other building. He saw more men stationed on the balcony. He knew it would be difficult to take them all out quietly.

He went back into the storeroom and closed the door. He looked around for something he could use. He found a piece of cloth and tied it around his head covering his face and hair.

He walked out of the storeroom and down the corridor towards the balcony. The men standing guard looked at him as he approached. They had automatic rifles but they paid him no attention.

They went back to their conversation ignoring him completely. Adam realized that most of the men here did not know each other. They were just hired guns.

A flicker of confidence sparked within Adam. He had already summoned an automatic rifle from his inventory before walking down the corridor. Holding the weapon openly made him blend in perfectly.

The mercenaries saw the gun and just assumed he was one of them. As for his covered face he had already noticed other men in the building with similar masks and hoods.

It was not unusual here. He realized it would be incredibly easy to get lost in this crowd.

He stood behind the two guards at the end of the corridor feigning casualness. From this vantage point he had a clear view of the entire factory.

This was the first floor balcony a metal walkway that encircled the whole building. Below on the ground floor hundreds of men were gathered talking and laughing.

The atmosphere was relaxed almost festive. Their guard was completely down.

A cold smile touched Adam’s lips hidden beneath his makeshift mask. He started to walk along the balcony his steps unhurried. Most of the men he passed ignored him completely.

There were so many people here he estimated over four hundred in total. Some were on the balconies leaning against the railing. Some were in the side rooms playing cards.

Most were on the ground floor near the large covered walkway that connected this building to Johnny’s old factory. They were a small army waiting for a battle that they thought would be easy.

He noticed that only a select few of the men had walkie-talkies clipped to their belts. These were the squad leaders the officers. The smile on his face widened. This was a critical piece of information.

He went down a set of metal stairs to the ground floor. The men here were even more relaxed than the ones above. They were crowded together in small groups talking and smoking.

The factory was not as large as the other one so it felt packed with people. The noise of their conversations was a low constant hum. He moved through the crowd a ghost in their midst an unnoticed predator stalking his prey.

They were all so confident so oblivious. They had no idea that death was walking among them. He was a wolf in the sheepfold. And the slaughter was about to begin.
