Chapter 115: Sneaky Rat In Hospital
The moment they reached the front desk of the apartment lobby, Zhao Yiming marched straight to the security post with Su Meilin trailing behind, her face pale with worry.
"Did Lady Jin Yuexin leave earlier?" Zhao asked, voice sharp.
The security guard—an older man with sleepy eyes—sat up straight at the sudden questioning. "Ah... yes, she did. About thirty minutes ago."
"With who?" Meilin’s voice cracked.
"Some man... middle-aged, well-dressed. Said he was her father’s friend. He carried Aunty Liu on his back, she is sick. Said she had a heart condition and they were heading to Huayan General Hospital."
’Damn, it must be Jinhe! But aunty Liu is sick and he also here? That’s suspicious!’ he thought, his mind scrambling about what actually happened.
Zhao Yiming’s eyes darkened. "And you just let them go?"
"Well yes! It is an emergency! How can we stop them?" The guard raised his hands.
Su Meilin didn’t hesitate. "Let’s go."
Zhao didn’t say a word, just nodded as both of them went to the car and
---
At Huayan General Hospital, the fluorescent lights flickered coldly in the white hallway of the emergency room.
A doctor in a white coat stood at the nurse’s station, flipping through a chart. In front of him was a familiar man in a cheap suit and a face swollen with bruises and dried blood, Su Jinhe.
"She’s stable for now," the doctor said. "But it was a close call. Her heart’s very weak. She’ll need to be hospitalized and monitored closely."
Su Jinhe nodded, putting on his best sorrowful mask. "Yes, of course. I’ll handle everything."
"We’ll need a family member’s signature to approve the treatment and admission," the doctor continued, scribbling something. "Is there anyone we can contact?"
"I’ll speak to the girl," Jinhe said, forcing a sigh. "She’s in the waiting room. Very shaken."
The doctor handed him a file. "This needs to be signed quickly."
"Understood."
---
Jin Yuexin sat on the edge of the emergency waiting room bench like a ghost in pajamas. Her wet hair clung to her face, her fingers curled tight around the hem of her sleeves.
Her body trembled under the fluorescent lights, surrounded by the buzz of strangers, the scent of antiseptic, and the sound of distant weeping.
She didn’t belong here.
She wasn’t used to people, to noise, to movement. Her world was paper, ink, and pixels. This reality was a cruel blur.
She couldn’t even see straight, she was scared that those eyes would looking straight at her. Judging her every move and mocked her...
She couldnt stand it, this place was even more suffocating than a cupboard and she was claustrophobic!
Then, a voice slithered through the crowd.
"Yuexin."
She flinched. Her wide, doll-like eyes darted up, only to see him approaching. Su Jinhe.
She stiffened.
But he wore that same fake mask of concern. Even worse, his tone was kind.
"I talked to the doctor," he said, kneeling beside her slowly like a snake ready to strike. "Nanny Liu will be fine. But she needs to be admitted, and someone has to sign for it."
He held out a thin clipboard. The top page had a red stamp on the corner, looking official and medical enough.
"This is just for her treatment," he said softly, his voice laced with pity. "The doctor’s rushing around, but if we delay too long, her condition might get worse."
But Aunty Liu family was only her... About five years ago, after the old woman husband died and she was left alone without child, Jin Haolong decided to put her name in family register. She was the only one who could do this.
She was alone....
Yuexin stared at the document with glassy eyes, hands trembling. Her mind couldn’t focus. She hadn’t even realized she was crying again.
She wanted Aunty Liu to be okay. More than anything. Her only family. Her only real warmth in the world.
So she reached out slowly.
But Jinhe’s eyes gleamed. Not with compassion, but satisfaction. Predatory delight hidden behind fake sympathy.
Because this wasn’t a treatment form.
This was a transfer document, carefully forged and formatted to look like hospital papers. And when signed, it would give Golden Earth the full rights to Jin Yuexin’s entire inheritance.
The inheritance Jinhe could no longer touch through Meilin. So he turned to Yuexin: softer, sheltered, easier to break.
And to ensure that?
He remembered Boss Chi’s exact words.
"A pinch of this in something sweet will do the trick. To healthy people, it’s nothing. But for a heart condition? One bite, and they’ll crumble."
The black sesame puff.
He gave it to that old hag knowing full well she was weak. All just to make this girl—this fragile little freak—feel helpless, vulnerable, and alone.
Not like Su Meilin with Zhao Yiming by her side, she didnt has anyone to told her that Jinhe tried to scam her!
And now she was signing. Pen inches from the paper.
Smile curling on his busted face. ’That’s right, little brat. Be a good girl. Hand it all over.’
However, the clipboard was snatched clean from her hands.
She gasped so did Su Jinhe whose eyes were bloodshot now, wondering who the bastard was who took the document!
"What—?!" Su Jinhe shot up, startled.
Standing in front of them, his clothes damp with sweat, eyes burning with fury, was Zhao Yiming.
He scanned the page once, read it so carefully and his expression darkened.
A beat passed in silence before he looked down at the bastard in front of him.
"You call this a treatment form?" he said coldly, his fingers already curling around the edge of the paper.
Su Jinhe panicked. "Wait! What the hell are you doing! Liu’s life is on the line! If we don’t get her treatment—"
The paper was torn in half without mercy. Again and again until it was nothing but scraps fluttering to the ground.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Jinhe bellowed, reaching for him.
But Zhao Yiming grabbed the man by the front of his shirt and yanked him forward, their faces inches apart. His voice dropped to a growl, so quiet it was nearly a hiss.
"Try that again. I dare you."
Jinhe froze.
"I know a forged transfer contract when I see one," Yiming continued. "And if we weren’t in a fucking hospital right now, I’d break your goddamn legs. Maybe your arms too just to match."
His grip tightened, knuckles white. "You touch Meilin or Yuexin again—try another stunt—and I will end you."
Su Jinhe could feel the pressure on his chest, on his pride, on his life. He laughed nervously, a high, wheezy sound. "Y-you’re misunderstanding, I was only helping! You know, trying to—"
Zhao shoved him back with a hard thud against the bench.
"Get the fuck out of my sight."
Su Jinhe scrambled up and fled like a rat, leaving behind nothing but scraps and the stench of fear.
