Chapter 618: 618 Fairy Tail: The Warmth of Mirajane, The Hidden Plan of Jose Porla, The Melancholic Girl -Juvia Lockster, Mirajane and Lucy in Danger.

(Flashback)

Once Fairy Tail declared war on Phantom Lord, things in Magnolia moved very quickly. The next day, most of the wizards from Fairy Tail headed to the train station. However, not everyone was going. That was the case with Mirajane.

Given everything he had experienced up to that point, Allen knew the risks of leaving someone alone during a war, so he didn’t want to leave Mirajane unprotected. Using the entire night, he finished the third magical Walker pendant.

Since it was made entirely with magic as its foundation, Allen doubted its effectiveness. It wasn’t as powerful or reliable as a regular Walker pendant. Still, it should be enough to protect its wearer from any wizard—at least long enough for Allen to arrive.

As everyone boarded the train, Allen called out to Mirajane. The girl had just said goodbye to her younger brother, Elfman, and warned him not to be reckless. She walked toward Allen with her classic kind smile.

"I don’t know if it’s too much to ask, but I’d like you to take care of everyone..."

Allen chuckled lightly. "You’re not underestimating them, are you? They might be a bunch of reckless idiots, but they’re pretty strong..."

Mirajane covered her mouth with her hand before laughing. "That’s true. But like you said, they’re fools and often get carried away. Just keep an eye on them, will you?~"

"I’ll do what I can," Allen replied, quietly observing the beautiful girl smiling beside him. It struck him as odd that she’d ask him that—him, and not Erza or maybe even the Master.

"Something wrong?" Mira tilted her head cutely.

"No, I just felt a bit overwhelmed by how much trust you’ve placed in me, even though we’ve only known each other for two weeks..."

Mirajane’s smile vanished, replaced by a serious—almost angry—expression. Her tight lips parted as she spoke with a sad tone.

"Don’t say that again."

"A... yeah... I’m sorry, Mira"

Logically, gaining someone’s trust isn’t easy. Even with the system’s help, one or two weeks wouldn’t be enough. But the strange trust the members of Fairy Tail had shown him worried Allen. If he had bad intentions, it would be extremely easy to deceive them all. Of course, Allen would never do that—but someone else might.

The atmosphere between the two became silent. Allen, not knowing what to say, saw the rest of the guild boarding the train. Gray and Natsu fighting, Cana carrying a huge keg of beer. Lucy sighed wishing Levy luck and assuring him that Droy and Jet would be safe.

Allen felt comfortable in this place. However, there was a sort of wall between him and them. That was only natural, considering he came from a world where he had killed dozens of versions of Invincible—even wiped out an entire civilization, the Flaxans. These were decisions he didn’t regret, not even now, but the truth was Allen was different from the rest of Fairy Tail.

Mirajane silently grabbed Allen’s hand. When he looked at her, she wasn’t meeting his gaze—instead, she was looking away, hiding her face.

"I don’t know what you’ve been through or what burdens you carry on your shoulders, but I can assure you that you won’t be rejected by Fairy Tail... or by me..." Mirajane blushed harder as her hand began to sweat from what she was doing.

"You really can’t stay in a bad mood in Fairy Tail..." Allen laughed, shaking his head. Then he held his own face, sighed, and pulled a box from his inventory, "Mira..."

"Hm?" When called, Mirajane glanced over, a little confused. Then she saw the box in Allen’s hand. Of course, Allen wouldn’t make the same mistake a third time—he had made the box transparent.

"What’s this?" Mirajane’s eyes widened upon seeing the beautiful pendant inside. It had a flower-shaped medallion that reflected the light like a gem. She hadn’t expected a gift and was left speechless.

Seeing that it was almost time to leave, Allen took the pendant out of the box and placed it around Mirajane’s neck. "Mira, I know you’re still strong—it’s just that strength is hidden beneath guilt and pain. You don’t have to rush to overcome it. But until then, I’ll make sure to keep you safe..."

Allen’s words carried more weight than a love confession, and Mirajane froze for a moment. She didn’t even hear the explanation of what the protective pendant did. Allen noticed the girl was lost in thought, but the train sounded—ready to depart.

"Leave it to me..." Lucy approached with a tired expression. It had taken all her willpower not to interrupt the scene, and now she was exhausted.

"Thanks, Lucy. I’m leaving her in your care..." Allen gave Lucy a pat on the head, but all he got was a disgusted glare in return.

"Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of your lovely girlfriend!" Lucy stuck out her tongue.

Allen leaned close to Lucy and whispered something in her ear. Instantly, the girl turned bright red and steam seemed to shoot out of her head. After a moment, she turned and started yelling at Allen as he walked to the train.

As he boarded, every pair of eyes focused on Allen. But instead of jealousy or dislike, what filled the air was surprise, disbelief—even admiration. They had just witnessed something absurd. Allen gave a half-smile and, with a face harder than diamond, walked to his seat beside Erza, who had her eyes closed.

There were murmurs of disbelief throughout the train, but they quickly died down once it started moving.

"You left Lucy behind on purpose?" Erza opened her eyes and looked at Allen in silence.

"She’s a rookie. Even if I didn’t say anything, the Master would have..."

"That didn’t stop you from taking her on other missions before..." Erza leaned in slightly. "Tell me—did you do it so she wouldn’t see something unpleasant?"

"..."

Erza likely already knew that Allen was willing to kill—he had shown it more than once. She also knew he often held back because of Lucy’s presence... and sometimes her own. In this war, expecting no one to die would be difficult. Still, it wasn’t impossible. The real problem was that the future couldn’t be controlled. If something like the Deliora incident happened again, Allen would have to prioritize protecting the guild—even if that meant killing.

"I honestly don’t know what might happen in this battle..."

Erza pursed her lips. That wasn’t the answer she was hoping for, but she knew Allen wouldn’t say more. The girl sighed and clenched her skirt. She wasn’t trying to scold him—she just wanted him to trust her. To tell her his thoughts, his goals, his desires. She wanted to know everything, and if he had to stain his hands, then she could do the same... so he wouldn’t carry the burden alone.

’Huh? Why me?!’ Erza’s eyes widened, interrupting her own thoughts as she realized how crazy she sounded. She shook her head quickly, trying not to think anymore—but she couldn’t help but blush.

Even though Allen and Erza had been speaking in low voices, a few people had managed to hear their conversation. But when they saw the mighty Titania blushing like a tomato, some almost cursed out loud. What kind of monster was Allen? The worst part was... he didn’t even seem to be trying.

Levy and Cana could only glare at Allen with disdain, calling him a womanizer, while Laki laughed.

"Being young is a good thing..." said Makarov, though even he couldn’t quite believe what had just happened.

After a few hours on the train, they arrived at the old city of Oak Town—but not a single one of them was in the mood to explore the historic place.

The pressure they gave off as a group—composed of elite wizards, an S-Class mage, and a Saint Wizard—was no joke. No one even dared to breathe loudly, afraid they might provoke them. But with every step he took, Allen felt a thorn he couldn’t pull out.

....

At that very moment in Magnolia Town, two events occurred that twisted the situation. One of them happened in the basement where Gajeel sat on an old cot inside a stone room. In a normal situation, a metal door and stone walls would be like pudding to him—he’d break through them easily. However, thanks to the beating Allen had given him, he was so injured and weak that he couldn’t even escape.

"Tsk... how pathetic..." Gajeel leaned against the wall with a bored expression.

"Noh noh noh... noh noh noh... noh noh noh noh With three, three and four Noh, I do not deny that statement. Gajeel-san is very strong, so I didn’t expect him to be so pathetic as to lose."

A man appeared from the floor—though he didn’t fully emerge, as if his body were fused with it. If Allen had been there, he’d have immediately realized the man was a user of Earth Magic.

"What did you say, Sol?! ... Ugh!"

"Noh noh noh noh with four Noh, I’ll repeat—don’t call me just Sol, Gajeel-san. It’s Monsieur Sol."

This man was the Earth Sun—an S-Class wizard of Phantom Lord’s Element 4. Sol was a tall man who wore a monocle over his right eye. His hair was green, styled in upward spikes. He had a small, downward-facing mustache and wore a brown suit with a spiky collar.

The strangest thing was his posture—standing with his head tilted downward while curiously swaying back and forth.

Gajeel, and honestly most people, didn’t like Sol. He was the kind of guy who loved mocking everyone’s flaws while pretending to have manners.

"Noh noh noh, with three ’nohs’ I sincerely apologize. I didn’t mean to hit a sore spot—it’s already bruised enough~"

"You really are an unpleasant guy!"

Sol just smiled and tossed a sack that landed in front of Gajeel. From the sound of it, it was full of metal parts and scrap. Gajeel grinned and started eating. Dragon Slayers have very resilient bodies and recover quickly—but for that, they need to eat the element they’re tied to. In his case, metal.

"Noh noh noh, with three ’nohs’ I offer you congratulations. Thanks to you, the Fairy Tail guild is walking straight into our master’s trap. But don’t worry—we still have hours left to finish the mission, so take your time to recover, Gajeel..."

Gajeel grabbed an iron fist and scowled, "This isn’t over!"

....

Elsewhere in Magnolia, Lucy was walking with Mirajane after buying a few things. The two of them were practically the only ones left in Magnolia. Of course, Jet and Droy had already been treated by Allen, and once they woke up, they’d be fine—no need to worry further. Allen had even placed a rune barrier around them at the hospital.

"Lucy-chan... can I ask you something?" Mirajane said, her smile fading into something more serious.

"Huh? Yeah, of course." Lucy smiled, but as soon as she noticed the look in Mirajane’s eyes, she grew serious too. Both girls stopped walking and faced each other.

Timcampy, who had been sleeping on Lucy’s head, woke up sensing that something was off.

"Lucy... do you love him?"

For many, Mirajane’s question might’ve seemed pointless. After all, anyone—even a blind person—could tell Lucy liked Allen by the way she acted around him. But Lucy didn’t take the question lightly. She admired Mirajane, and even though their relationship hadn’t started on the best foot, things had gotten better between them. Still, she felt she had to be firm in answering.

"Mira-san... I don’t plan on giving him up..."

It didn’t matter how much she admired Mirajane—there was something Lucy wasn’t willing to give up, not even if it meant losing a friend. Despite her determined words, Lucy felt a bitter pang in her heart at the thought that she might not get along with Mirajane anymore. But the white-haired girl just laughed.

"Lucy-chan, don’t worry~"

"Huh?"

"I just wanted to see how far your feelings have come." Mirajane leaned in closer. "I can tell you still have some doubts, but overall, I can sense that you wouldn’t let him go without a fight... hehe."

She stepped back, turning away with her hands clasped behind her back.

"..."

Lucy stood frozen for a moment before her mood slowly calmed. Mirajane was smiling—but that smile didn’t reach her eyes. Seeing that, Lucy looked down for a second, then lifted her head again.

"What about you, Mira?"

Mirajane stopped smiling."I think he’s someone wonderful. Being by his side feels like stepping into a fantasy dream—always so bright, always so warm... but... I don’t have the right to be happy. Not yet. And I don’t know when I will."

Lucy gasped, unable to understand what she meant. Just then, it started to rain. Lucy and Mirajane looked at each other and smiled—they had to get moving or they’d get soaked.

"Good morning..."

A polite voice stopped them in their tracks. When they turned around, they saw a girl with a heart-patterned umbrella—oddly contrasting with her gloomy appearance.

She had long blue hair wrapped at the ends, pale white skin, and eyes the same color as her hair—though they seemed a little lifeless. Her outfit was unusual: a navy-blue coat, a shawl draped around her shoulders with Teru Teru Bozu dolls attached to it, and a Russian-style Cossack hat.

"Who are you?" Lucy stepped in front of Mirajane, not forgetting her mission in Magnolia.

"It’s a lovely day..." the girl replied without emotion, ignoring Lucy’s question.

Mirajane narrowed her eyes, but the girl didn’t show any hostility—more like a simple passerby. So Lucy didn’t know how to react and just stood still as the girl walked past.

"That was fun..." the girl murmured.

"What was?!" Lucy raised her voice dramatically, feeling like her readiness had been wasted since the girl didn’t seem like she wanted to fight at all.

"Lucy, don’t let your guard down. She’s Juvia Lockser—an S-Class mage from Phantom Lord."

"What?!" Lucy jumped, immediately summoning a key. "Open, Gate of the Golden Bull—Taurus!"

Her Celestial Spirit appeared with a battle cry, while Juvia stopped walking and slowly turned around, her melancholic, distant gaze meeting theirs.

"As expected of Mirajane Strauss—former S-Class Mage..."

"...!" Mirajane frowned.

"That can’t be true!" Lucy gasped.

Mira was an S-Class mage like Erza? She knew from Allen that those two used to fight a lot, but she never imagined it was literal combat.

"Lucy!" Mirajane scolded, realizing the girl wasn’t aware of the danger in front of them.

"Sorry!" Lucy slapped her cheeks and got serious. "Go, Taurus! Show her the results of your training!"

"Moo!"

Taurus stomped the ground and charged, swinging his golden axe and slicing Juvia in half.

Lucy and even Taurus were left wide-eyed and stunned.

"What are you doing, Taurus?! I told you to defeat her, not to kill her!!"

"Sorry, Lucy-chan! I didn’t mean to!"

"Worrying about your enemy is very naive," Juvia spoke, startling Lucy. She was floating in midair—despite being cut in half, her body had turned into water.

"This is a very advanced water magic technique," Mirajane explained grimly. "It allows water mages to turn their bodies into liquid to avoid lethal damage."

"But how do we defeat her?" Lucy panicked. How do you beat someone you can’t touch?

Mirajane clenched her teeth in frustration. If she had her magic, she could wipe the floor with Juvia—but right now, she had to rely on Lucy instead of protecting her.

"Water Lock..."

Juvia raised her hand and trapped Taurus in a sphere of water. He began to drown. Without hesitation, Lucy broke the summoning, returning him to the Celestial Spirit Realm. She was about to summon another spirit—but Juvia was faster.

"Water Slice..."

Jets of high-pressure water shot from Juvia’s hands like blades toward Lucy and Mira. On instinct, Mirajane jumped in front of Lucy to shield her.

"Mira-san!" Lucy screamed in terror.

For a moment, their pendants glowed—but then dimmed. No blood spilled. And no tragedy unfolded.

Like a mountain, Allen appeared in front of them, blocking Juvia’s attack without a scratch.

"Allen?!" Lucy and Mira shouted, their faces lighting up.

Allen glanced back with a sly smile. "Girls, could you trust my magic a little more? Those pendants won’t break from the attack of a brat who doesn’t even know how to control her power..."

"What did you say?" Juvia asked almost out of reflex.

Allen turned toward the blue-haired girl. "Truth is... I’m not in the best mood."

"...!" Juvia felt chills as she met Allen’s cold stare. She immediately turned to water and charged in her intangible state. No matter how dangerous he seemed, he couldn’t hurt Juvia in that state, so she didn’t have to fear.

"Finite Incantatem..."

"Huh?" Juvia’s magic vanished. She was forced back into her physical form and stumbled until she stood right in front of Allen.

"As I said—you’re leaking so much magic without control, it’s insulting. You think you can fight me with that level?" Allen sighed. "If you were my student, I would’ve scolded you a thousand times already..."

"Huh?... Ah!" Juvia didn’t even have time to react before Allen hit her in the forehead with his finger. She flew backwards and fell backwards. The result of the fight was almost laughable—an abrupt, one-sided ending.

"Ah..." Juvia gasped from the sudden weakness. She’d just been called a brat, an amateur, and a fool—or at least, that’s how it felt. But more than anything, she had been scolded like a little girl. But strangely she did not feel angry or upset.

Juvia looked up at the sky...

The clouds parted, and sunlight poured through...

’It’s so bright...’ Juvia thought with a faint smile.

A/N: If you think about it, Allen didn’t save Lucy and Mirajane but saved Juvia from a Mirajane pushed to the limit. 👀
