Chapter 63: DAYMARE VILLAGE
Chapter 63: DAYMARE VILLAGE
[IT THRUST THE SWORD DOWN TOWARDS THE CHEST OF RHETT, WHO WAS STUNNED AND SPEECHLESS TO REACT.
The sword went down in slow motion towards Rhett’s chest. His hands were motionless, and he couldn’t move a muscle. The stadium was silent, all expecting the worst.
The Therret beast’s face was a blur, and so was the sword. Rhett thought he saw a twinkle of light in the sky. He couldn’t predict his future, not at this moment though, not now that he was about to die.
The sword went down, and Rhett breathed out.
TAGNOK suddenly halted his actions. He raised the sword up to the dismay of the crowd and threw it away behind his back, his eyes gleaming and a smirk on his face.
"Ok," said the beast. "Nah, nah, I—I—I honestly don’t need to kill you. I really don’t."
Someone from the crowd shouted, "C’mon, this is pure rubbish! Murder him, TAGNOK! We need blood and not... sparing of lives! I didn’t pay money to see this!" It was a female voice.
TAGNOK smiled—a sinister smile, a sort of muddled derivation of a frown. The beast walked over to Rhett and held him by the face, looking into it as if to find something hidden inside. Suddenly, the beast turned to the crowd.
"Don’t you want action?" TAGNOK asked.
The crowd cheered in the affirmative.
"Brutal action, eh?"
"Yes," echoed the crowd.
The monster smiled and raised Rhett up by the face. It looked intently at him and shrugged.
"I’m sending him to the DAYMARE VILLAGE."
The crowd was happy with this. They cheered on and clapped, exchanging looks of hope.
TAGNOK snapped his fingers, and a tiny portal appeared in front of him. He looked at it and then at his fingers in reminiscence. He picked Rhett up into the air and looked at his face.
"Truly, you are special. I should have killed you, but I intend for you to die slowly. So slowly you’ll count every minute, every second you’ve been alive," said TAGNOK.
The beast dragged Rhett mercilessly over to the dark portal, which was just expanding. It looked into Rhett’s face and said slowly,
"I’ve been there before, and I didn’t find it blissful. I hope you won’t either. Over there, you’ll be DOT KORRETO. Just use your witty system, and let’s see if you’ll survive. Honestly, you are in good luck, or should I say—bad luck?"
The spectators opened their mouths in awe. The scene was golden to them. Some people were even taking pictures with cameras and their phones, their mouths wide open.
TAGNOK grinned, and with a great amount of effort, he hauled Rhett into the dark portal. Rhett didn’t scream, talk, or even react. He was just speechless, and his body throbbed in a great amount of pain.
---
Dawn
The soft rustle of the wind woke Rhett up. He opened his eyes, seeing blurry figures with fire torches in their hands, the light from the fire torches burning fiercely. He saw that he was in the middle of a village square.
He felt sad, he had a kingdom to rule back in the slayer’s domain. Now, he was here.
An elderly woman’s voice rang out. "Kill him, burn him, rip him to pieces!"
The chants and waving of the fire torches’ lights (sticks with fire on them, but the light is put in a specially designed case). Rhett opened his eyes widely now and stared blankly and innocently at angry faces.
He couldn’t fathom this development. Although he was expecting worse, it didn’t occur to him that it would be this bad.
"He killed the king!" shouted the elderly woman. "He must be murdered too!"
Rhett tried to move his hands but found out that he couldn’t. He couldn’t move any part of his body. He tried to speak and also discovered, to his dismay, that he couldn’t move his lips. Something was blocking them. He couldn’t move his feet either and then any part of his body.
It was then it dawned on him that he had been gagged. His mouth was covered with thick clothing, and his hands, legs, and even neck were tied with thick clothing. A rope was tied to a long, bulky wood in front of Rhett, and the rope’s mouth was tied to a circle.
Rhett’s eyes widened when he realized that it was a wood for hanging.
’Shit! Shit! Shit!’ he thought.
The elderly woman, a figure clothed in a brown velvet gown, with grey hairs all over her head, a pointed nose, a face full of pimples, and a hunchback, walked over to a man. The man would likely be in his early fifties. He had a face shrouded with beards, round eyes, and was clothed in an overall made of bear skin.
Rhett suddenly noticed that he was in front of quite a large crowd. They all wore stern faces, and frankly, he was afraid of it.
The man whose face was shrouded with beards faced the crowd.
"While I was walking down the road off, I saw DOT KORRETO," the man began, pointing at Rhett. "I saw this good-for-nothing scumbag, this so-called ’Great’ villain we had been hunting for years. I—" the man hit his chest now—"Gregory the Third, of House Rollin, found him lying weak. Clearly, he was unconscious. I was shocked with my discovery. I almost ran, thinking he would get me, only to discover he was unconscious. I quickly called for help, and some of my good mates gagged him and tied him, bringing him to the village square."
The crowd was shocked. They went into, "OOH!"
Rhett struggled more, trying to say something through his tied mouth.
The elderly woman spoke now. "Because of him, we don’t have a king anymore!"
’Gregory the Third’ said to the woman, "Alley your fears, my good woman. We certainly will murder him right now." His accent was British-like, and so was the elderly woman’s too.
Gregory called some men, and they came, dragging Rhett to that stand where he was to be hanged.
Rhett struggled and tried to pull out of their grip, but all to no avail.
