I Reincarnated as a Noble Bastard, So I'm Seducing All the Villainess
Chapter 52: You don’t mess with other people’s business

Chapter 52: You don’t mess with other people’s business

My throat was closing up from all the pressure in the air. The feeling is awful, and I’m sure I’ll only get in the way by getting closer to this fight. Leonhardt’s level is technically high at the beginning of the story, depending on the situation, he shouldn’t have much trouble against Philomeu.

The real problem is the others. Moriah is managing to keep pace against the human enemies and avoids any fights against the golems, while only Victorian is wielding his spear alongside the group of guards to slow the advance of these creatures.

I pull Ravenna back by the shoulders, finally gaining some distance from those two lunatics about to create a scene worthy of many manga panels. She needs some time to rest. I don’t know what happened to make her so tired, but I can see that her power level isn’t enough to maintain the rhythm.

"Can you still teleport through shadows?"

"I can... but what do you want with that?"

"Hide. Go find a safe place."

"What? The others are also fighting with all their might, why...!"

"Ravenna."

I embody Duke Moonlight again, giving the gothic witch a stern look and placing a hand on her back. "I don’t want to see you dying for nothing because of stubborness after everything I’ve done to save your skin. If you end up fainting from exhaustion, or even take an arrow to the head due to a slip-up, I swear we are going to hell so I can kill you again with my own hands."

She gulps, grinding her teeth in frustration.

"Just trust me", I continue, patting her skin. "Look for Leliana or the Duke, they should be somewhere safe. We still have a dream to fulfill, right?"

Ravenna takes a deep breath. The shadows at her feet bend and slowly rise up. Thank God, she obeyed without throwing too much of a tantrum and is dissolving into black matter. I nod in response, flashing a smile.

"See you soon."

With that, she finally disappears from sight. Now I can concentrate on what’s in front of me. There will always be people wanting to kill any idle noble, like me, and honestly, a direct confrontation is a terrible choice.

I faced Karthak before, but survived by sheer luck and never had a chance to win or escape. In this place, the story is a bit different. You can move freely to a certain extent, so escaping from anyone who pursues me with swords and buying time is a good strategy, but the safest place is definitely near whoever is as far as possible from the epicenter of the disaster.

While the duel between Philomeu and Leonhardt hadn’t truly begun, with the two staring at each other in a five-minute standoff competition, I decided to retreat zigzagging along the side of the hall, dodging debris and staying in the shadow of the pillars.

My best opportunity here would be to jump out the window and get out... if it weren’t for one of the golems spotting me out of the corner of its eye.

"Oh, fuck."

The creature advances without warning, its joints releasing that sharp metallic screech that pierces the ears. Its eyes glowed like two red stoplights, serving more to freeze me in place than anything else.

There’s no time to run from here, at most, a roll backwards would crush one of my legs. Curious things always happen when I’m about to get screwed.

The golem coming towards me didn’t even get close enough to offer any threat, interrupted by an explosion from the ceiling that smashed it into a pile of gray dust.

Pieces of enchanted stone ricocheted off the walls, piercing the walls like stray bullets looking for an unsuspecting head to hit. Even I got scared shitless... but honestly, seeing him here of all situations makes me smile.

Duke Moonlight had his feet on what was left of the golem’s carcass, displaying that cold, unreachable aura that was the Moonlight speciality. Old man, one of these days you’ll kill me with a scare like that.

He extends a hand, which is almost the size of my head, and I take it to be pulled up like a puppet.

"Your girlfriend told me about the situation..."

"Girlfriend? It’s a terrible time to be joking, Father."

"She’s not your girlfriend? Ah, I see..."

Wait, what’s with that disappointed look? I know you’re strong and don’t even need to care about the golems or others, but showing that kind of reaction to my answer is a bit much, don’t you think?! Ah, who knows, the Duke’s thoughts are always a mystery.

I dust off my clothes full of iron filings. Just in that short time, my father’s fist has already pierced the carcass of one of the metal monsters effortlessly. Holy shit, if I knew you were this strong, it would have been more worthwhile to be here from the start!

He topples one of the Libertarians with a flick... I feel like I’m being pampered because, looking closely, all the targets are the people coming towards us.

"Hey, Father, their boss is over there!" I point to the red and gold flashes dancing in the middle of the hall with a very intense sword fight. "Go help Leonhardt!"

"And you? Can you defend yourself?"

"I take care of myself. What matters is finishing this mess quickly before they leave this hall."

The Duke stares at me for a long moment before turning to the incredible battle unfolding and having a chance to jump into the middle of it. Actually, he almost caught Philomeu off guard, having raised his fist high and bringing it down against the floor, but the bastard dodged at the last moment, and the punch hit the ground, causing a tremor through the floor.

Strong as hell!

The leader of the revolutionaries scrapes his sword against the marble, regaining his balance with a ballerina-like leap.

"Ah, what a surprise. Finally decided to stop hiding in the shadows, Duke Moonlight?"

"You remain as arrogant as ever...", replied the Duke, without raising his voice and pulling his arm, now sunk two spans below the floor.

I wanted to understand what was so funny about my father’s words that made this guy laugh so much. Hey, retard, you’re facing two freaking monsters and you’re getting excited?

"If more kept coming, I’d love it", he says, plunging his sword into a nearby corpse.

The blade literally sucks the body dry, draining every drop of blood and growing more thorns.

The Duke doesn’t respond... but something very strange appears. He assumes a stance with elevated fists, very similar to what boxers use, and cracks appear along his arms. A purple energy moves along the fissures.

This... I don’t remember this? Where did this power come from? Since when could the Duke make such a badass debut?!

Moriah stops fighting for a second. The golems also seem to want to avoid that clash of titans. Even Leonhardt, still in a battle stance, lowers his chin in a slight gesture of respect.

I want to understand, I want to know the name of these things, but none of this appears in the novel. Still, seeing these things up close, I feel like an excited young man watching my favorite characters fight! Less goo, my old man, smash this lunatic’s face in!

"Philomeu, you decided to invade my family’s home, so pay for your crimes..."

The last word was accompanied by a snap in the air. The space around the purple energy bended along his forearm.

He just stretched his hand forward, and a kind of force was carried by the wind and reached Philomeu, who tried to hold it back with his sword and his own body, but was still forced to retreat. This satisfied my desire to see him suffer as his clothes ripped from the pressure, revealing a nasty bruise on his belly.

"This is good... this feeling is magnificent!"

The sword spins over his shoulders, and with a flourish, it emanates a red wave, shaped like the cut, covering a distance large enough to reach both Leonhardt and the Duke.

I throw myself under one of the fallen tables, watching the inquisitor utter a low prayer and raise a large luminous wall that protects them, but it immediately cracks under the pressure.

Yeah, there’s no escaping now, the boss fight is finally happening.
