I Refused To Be Reincarnated -
Chapter 551: The Seven-Year Training Plan
Chapter 551: The Seven-Year Training Plan
A few minutes later, his baby’s wailing broke the mountain’s peace.
’That nightmarish cow is back to torture me! Please save me, Misha!’
He flailed his fists in the woman’s embrace and shoved his head aside not to see her exposed chest. Yet, his attempts only met a pair of twitching brows and the laughter of the three other guardian beasts.
The woman held his head straight and shoved his mouth to her immense chest for the second time. "Stop acting dramatically! I’m just feeding you, brat."
Adam mustered all his strength to slap her soft breast. But with his baby’s strength, he only managed to make it wobble.
’I don’t want to! Pool your milk in a bowl, and let me drink it, you demon cow.’ He channelled his mana, not playing anymore. ’Begone temptress!’
Mana swirled, coalescing into a hand as solid as quenched steel. It drew a sky-blue trail under his control and pushed the woman away.
Contrary to his expectation, she didn’t move at all. Worst, he saw amusement in her eyes and rising lip. Then?
With a pfiuu, she blew the hand away and chuckled.
"What a fierce temper. But drink and listen." She pushed his head again, forcing him to drink her nutrition milk as she continued. "Cultivation dominates this realm. But one day, some individuals claimed to be mages."
Her eyes narrowed into fiery slits.
"No one knows how or when they got that ability, but one thing is sure: the man leading them reached the Spiritual Ascension Realm."
The serpent moved behind her and shrugged.
"This bastard calls himself a magus. He established a sect..." He shook his head, his purple hair fluttering. "They call it a mage order. Anyway, they claimed an island in the western sea and aren’t interacting much with the outside. Still, a few of their descendants left to form their own orders."
He clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes.
"These fools create more chaos than demonic sects. Long story short, mages are the cultivators’ number one enemies because of them."
The spider tucked his fingers around his chin and added.
"Even if we never left the valley, one of my friends told me that other magic beasts clashed with them a few times."
The crane snickered and pointed her finger at him.
"This long explanation has only one goal: to make you understand that you can’t use magic outside the valley. If you do, dozens of thousands of cultivators will hunt you down."
Meanwhile, his eyes trembled under the woman as he finally understood why the earthlings in the fourth area attacked him. He didn’t know if it was normal for mages to be present in this realm, but he cursed them under his breath for ruining their reputation.
He tapped on the woman’s soft flesh to tell her that his stomach was full before he let out a curious gurgle.
’How do you want me to protect myself without using magic? I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I’m the best apprentice.’
The cow covered herself and shrugged.
"Don’t you have Lin Yao’s dan tian? Become a cultivator to hide yourself. Like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, you can use magic when no one watches and act like everyone else the rest of the time." She raised him to eye level, her face turning somber. "We’ll teach you how to control the five elements, fight, and craft for seven years."
Adam’s brows creased into a cute furrow as he tilted his head in confusion.
’Why?’
The crane took him from the cow’s hands, her elegant demeanor striking him.
"The valley’s spiritual vein is running dry. We counted on Lin Yao to fix it after he reached the Void Refinement Realm, but..." She shook her head, a bitter taste filling her mouth now that she knew what happened to him. "We want you to take over his mission. However, over a century has passed, and the vein will soon collapse. To fix it, you’ll have to become a Spiritual Ascension grandmaster, the equivalent of a magus from your world."
Adam bobbed his head.
’I’ll help you fix it if I can. Can it hold for around fifteen to twenty years?’
Yet, his words didn’t meet the reaction he had expected. Instead of receiving an answer, they all gazed at him, eyes wide and mouth dropping.
Then, the cow recovered and slapped her leg in amusement.
"Twenty years? Only one individual rose to reach the Spiritual Ascension Realm in thirty thousand years. Yet, you said twenty!" She leaned back, exploding into laughter. "Hahaha! It’s the first time I heard someone so confident!"
The spider shook his head, mumbling about youth’s arrogance, then continued.
"The spiritual vein can hold on for another two hundred years. We believe you have enough potential to reach that realm before." He pointed his finger at him. "The cow wasn’t over with her explanation. We’ll suppress your cultivation and forbid you from increasing your tier with mana during these seven years."
Adam’s eyes narrowed into fiery slits. If it was a joke, it didn’t amuse him at all.
’I can’t lose seven years just because you ask me to!’
However, the serpent snickered, the sound grating to the ear and his voice dripping venom.
"Only sect members can possess cultivation techniques. Even Zhongguo had to return his after he left centuries ago. Of course, you can progress without one, but you’ll face more bottlenecks later." He shook his head. "It’s not worth it, and we can arrange something much better."
The crane nodded.
"The Qingming sect betrayed our hopes a hundred and twenty years ago. Since then, we cut ties with it and searched for substitutes to help us. Even if we failed, we found a little friend related to the Jin Long sect."
However, Adam flailed his arms and puffed his cheeks.
’Just teach me your techniques. I also have one already.’
Indeed, he had fused two sutras from the Qingming sect. He had later translated the result for Julius, but he still possessed the original.
The cow sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Listen here. The Jin Long sect is the most prosperous and fair. With your talent, they’ll offer you Moon-Grade cultivation techniques." She shook her head. "Our friend even told us the sect leader has a Sun-Grade Technique. If you can get it, you might really reach the Spiritual Ascension Realm in twenty years, even if we sacrifice the seven first. But don’t mistake us. We’re not adding this rule without reason: sects only accept talented disciples untainted by other teachings."
Then, she explained that it was related to loyalty, but he understood it as brainwashing. In short, the sects wanted their disciple to feel indebted to them. Leveraging the feeling they had instilled in them since childhood, they obtained docile fighters who couldn’t refuse their orders. After all, they could just guilt trip them by saying, "Look at everything the sect gave you. You became who you are because of its generosity. Yet, you refuse to repay it?"
He clicked his tongue, his nose scrunching at the method. But could he blame them when nobles outright enslaved others in the magic world?
The question rumbled in his mind before a sudden flash of inspiration blinded him.
’Why do I care? They can do whatever they want. But I won’t comply. I’ll learn their cultivation method and leave the second they bother me.’
In the end, he reluctantly accepted their plan after the cow explained that the Sun Grade was equal to the mythical!
