I Refused To Be Reincarnated -
Chapter 526: A Titan’s Clash
Chapter 526: A Titan’s Clash
Lin Yao’s eyes narrowed into thin slits, defiant green wisps of life force wafting from them. His hair, reminiscent of a verdant forest, swirled in an awe-inspiring yet soul-chilling spectacle.
Under their smooth fabric, his muscles’ fibers tensed with power and Qi as his dan tian roared to life after years of forceful slumber, heralding the return of the man who defeated a tier six demon, who subjugated the ghost canyon and who imposed himself as a powerhouse in a foreign world of magic.
"I know you have many questions."
His youthful voice echoed, a staggering contrast to the aged and commanding tone he had used in the palace.
"But now’s not the time... They’re here."
Echoing his words, The Beast Emperor’s voice thundered in the cave, an immediate and unavoidable death sentence to anyone.
"You can’t hide from me, Leon! You have nothing to do on my land, and today, I’ll send you back to whatever hell spawned you."
Adam, Julius, Mathias, and Alice trembled in unison, the noise of their shattering legs and teeth the only answer they could muster in the face of the Earth Fury’s wrath.
Yet, Lin Yao remained steadfast, the fear that should have gripped his limbs or hunched his back invisible. Or maybe he didn’t feel it in the first place?
Adam didn’t know, but he saw him take measured steps towards the exit and heard his confident voice.
"You can’t die yet. You assimilated the ethereal serpent’s core, Julius. I believe you’ll wield its power to cross over worlds one day..."
His voice’s intensity lowered, and he closed his eyes as he stepped out.
However, when he reopened them, an inferno of determination burned in them.
"Even if it’s one last time, I must see her again."
The moment he emerged from the cave, he saw the bizarre yet harmonious figure of the transformed Beast Emperor above him.
Dark-feathered wings sent fierce gales towards the ground with each of their flaps. Terrifying nails, as sharp as enchanted blades, glinted under the afternoon sun, and rows of sharp draconic horns circled his forehead like a crown.
Then, he heard the wind cry under the archmage’s speed as his curved, feline legs met the floor.
The man’s bulging arm pointed at him, the dark scales covering them in a layer of dark, unbreakable armor absorbing the light like a black hole as his voice thundered with accusations.
"Sixty years ago, you stepped foot on my world and shattered every rule imposed on me. You usurped a kingdom... Yet obtain forgiveness and the magus’ acknowledgement because of the knowledge you shared with him. But not from me..."
The emperor’s eagle eyes ignited with fires of resentment and jealousy.
Why could a foreigner scurry across the lands, free of worries and threats, for years while he was shackled to his temple under the ever-watching magus’ piercing eyes?
How did a foreigner dare claim lands on what he considered his dominion and his world?
The ridiculous thought caused his lips to curl, revealing his feral teeth as sharp as razors.
"Everything in this world will belong to me. I won’t accept any transgression, for I’m the emperor, the ultimate ruler who’ll dethrone the magus. Everything will bend under my will, including your life."
"Oh? Are you living in a fantasy? As I told you fifteen years ago, you’re nothing more than a petty child, inflexible beyond reason and fueled by jealousy and an oppressive desire to control everything."
Lin Yao’s lips curled into a defiant smirk as his voice resounded. Yet his eyes darted beyond the man’s imposing figure, straight into Ossian’s despite the distance separating them and his effort to hide his presence.
"Planning to ambush me? Fools!"
The five elements surged from his body in a blinding flash of multicolored light with his words.
"You’ll witness today why my grandfather considered me the hope of my family and how your number doesn’t matter in the face of perfect harmony."
The jade ring dangling from his belt shone, distorting space to let a sleek sword materialise in its wielder’s firm grip. Foreign characters covered its blade to form natural depictions of mountains, rivers, clouds, and forests.
Its appearance alone caused the cave’s rocks to sing, the air to sigh in relief, and the plants to dance in delight as they sent their life force to reinforce its wielder.
BOOM
Before the emperor and Ossian’s enlarging eyes, the multicolored energy veiling Lin Yao’s features burst into shimmering sparks.
Like a drizzle, they nourished the earth upon contact, causing fresh grass to sprout and cover the barren region in a film of verdant green.
Ignoring the phenomenon, their eyes narrowed at the almost celestial halo encasing his figure, and a trace of surprise creased their brows.
However, Lin Yao didn’t give them time to question him.
A shockwave spread through the air, making it tremble as a mystical blur of green shattered the sound barrier.
"You reached the seventh tier!"
He snickered at the emperor’s belated realisation, cleaving the wind in halves as his sword roared in his adversary’s ears.
However, would the southern continent’s uncontested ruler die from a single blow? Would an archmage, who had stagnated at his level for over a hundred years, leave a weakness as glaring as his physical body? Finally, would a master of transformation magic lose against a cultivator?
The emperor snickered in return as his boiling mana surged in his back.
A thick, chitinous armor encased his feathery wings in a layer as hard as rocks as they moved to intercept the sword whistling to decapitate him.
BOOM
Space groaned and fissured when the two strikes collided. Yet, the emperor’s pupils constricted as his defense cracked and shards flew around them.
Then, he saw Leon... No! Lin Yao’s fierce expression as he pushed the shimmering sword through the chitin.
Feeling the icy metal Qi inching closer to his limbs, his throat bulged. Simultaneously, mana mixed with the air in his lungs.
ROAR
More than a feral roar, a sound blast that made the earth tremble escaped his mouth.
Meanwhile, the colossal behemoth’s statue overlooking his grand temple’s entrance trembled.
From its stone eyes, a single tear of frustration rolled down its monstrous features, creating an unsettling and mysterious spectacle. Yet, no one was there to see it.
