I Really Didn’t Mean to Play Go!
Chapter 36: But I Don’t Have Your WeChat

The simultaneous matches had finally come to an end.

By tradition, Wu Shuheng should have offered a few words of praise for the students who participated, followed by some encouragement to wrap up the Go lecture.

But as Wu Shuheng picked up the microphone again and looked at the group of students below, he found himself at a loss for words.

The audience was equally silent, gazing up at him with mixed expressions.

After a long pause, Wu Shuheng shook his head and let out a deep breath.

"Today’s simultaneous matches gave me an unprecedented… surprise," he said, before adding with a wry smile, "Or maybe I should say, shock?"

Hearing this, the crowd couldn’t help but chuckle, breaking the heavy tension that had filled the room just moments before.

"Honestly, I never thought I’d lose—even in a two-stone handicap simultaneous match," Wu Shuheng admitted with a reflective expression. "But in the end, I didn’t just lose—I lost two games."

He then turned to the other students who had lost to him and said, "To the rest of you who lost to me, don’t feel discouraged. You all played very well—truly, very well."

"From my matches with you, I saw your passion for Go and your indomitable spirit. Even when you knew you were at a disadvantage, you gritted your teeth and fought to the end, making every move shine brightly. You completed your games with your own hands, and even in defeat, you have no reason to feel disappointed. In fact, you should feel proud."

He paused for a moment, then added, "Of course, this also applies to myself."

The audience couldn’t hold back their laughter this time, and the once tense atmosphere turned lively and lighthearted.

Once the laughter died down, Wu Shuheng continued, "As for the two students who defeated me… I hope that someday, I’ll see you both competing in professional tournaments."

The room fell silent again as the students processed his words.

All eyes turned to Yu Shao and Xu Zijin.

Everyone had caught the underlying message: in Wu Shuheng’s opinion, Yu Shao and Xu Zijin might even have the potential to become professional Go players!

"Finally, I’d like to leave you all with this thought," Wu Shuheng said, taking a deep breath.

"Go, like life, is a road so long that its end is unseen."

"On this road, some people walk quickly, while others walk slowly. Some stumble repeatedly, while others pick themselves back up again."

"But none of that truly matters. All we need to do is keep moving forward—nothing more."

"Thank you, everyone!"

As his words ended, the room erupted into thunderous applause.

With the lecture officially concluded, Wu Shuheng stepped off the stage. The students began to leave the auditorium one after another, while the participants from the simultaneous matches also stood up and made their way down from the stage.

“He’s coming down.”

“You said you were interested—go ask for his WeChat!”

“Ah, I was just joking.”

“Really? Then if you’re not going, I will.”

“Hey! Don’t! Okay, fine, I’ll go!”

As Yu Shao descended from the stage, several girls sprang into action, ready to ask him for his contact information.

However, just as they were about to approach him, they saw Wu Zhixuan, who had been sitting in the front row, suddenly stand up and stride toward him.

The girls froze in their tracks, unsure of what to do.

"Hey, how’d it go?"

The moment Yu Shao stepped off the stage, Wu Zhixuan cheerfully approached him. Her bright smile revealed two adorable dimples, and she looked as proud as a child showing off a perfect test score.

"Pretty impressive, right? My signed photo worked wonders!"

"Very impressive."

Yu Shao smiled at the lively girl in front of him and said, "If it weren’t for your signed photo, I probably wouldn’t have won."

"Even if my future Go Sage signature helped, your skill was still amazing," Wu Zhixuan said with a playful grin, sticking out her tongue. Despite her confidence, she couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed, and her curiosity got the better of her. "Tell me, have you trained at a Go dojo before?"

"Uh… no."

Yu Shao shook his head, answering truthfully.

In his previous life, he had trained at a dojo. But in this life, his current self hadn’t even learned how to play Go before today.

"No?"

Wu Zhixuan’s wide eyes sparkled with disbelief.

Yu Shao couldn’t help but notice how ridiculously adorable she looked, her shocked expression resembling a curious kitten. It made him want to pinch her cheeks.

"Let’s not talk about that for now," Yu Shao said, steering the conversation back. "So, where’s my signed photo?"

At his words, Wu Zhixuan froze for a moment before slapping her forehead as if she had just remembered something.

"Oh, right!"

She had promised it casually earlier as a joke but hadn’t actually prepared a photo. In fact, she didn’t even have a pen with her!

What now?

After some serious thought, Wu Zhixuan said, "How about this: give me your home address. I’ll write it down, go home, find a photo, sign it, and mail it to you."

"That works," Yu Shao nodded, but then added calmly, "But… I don’t have your contact info."

"Then add me!"

Wu Zhixuan didn’t see this as a problem at all. She quickly pulled out her phone, opened WeChat, and asked, "What’s your WeChat ID? I’ll add you."

Yu Shao promptly gave her his WeChat ID.

"Got it! I’ve sent the request—make sure to accept it!"

Wu Zhixuan quickly entered the ID, sent a friend request, and held up her phone to show Yu Shao that she’d added him.

"Alright." Yu Shao nodded.

"I originally just came here to visit my brother’s old school. Who knew I’d end up watching him lose two games? Now I’ve got even more reasons to tease him later, hehe."

Satisfied, Wu Zhixuan put away her phone, waved goodbye to Yu Shao, and left with a grin.

Shortly after parting ways with Wu Zhixuan, Yu Shao was intercepted by Zhou De at the entrance of the multimedia classroom.

"Yu Shao! What did Wu Zhixuan say to you? Spill it!"

Zhou De grabbed Yu Shao’s collar, his voice dripping with jealousy as he interrogated him.

"What else? She wanted to add me on WeChat."

Yu Shao peeled Zhou De’s hands off him and replied casually.

"You’re unbelievable!"

Zhou De’s eyes were practically glowing red with envy. He didn’t want to believe it, but he’d clearly seen Wu Zhixuan pull out her phone with his own eyes.
