Ch. 438 - Conflict In The City

Upon hearing Xu Zimo’s words, Yellow Moon fell silent.

She looked deeply at Xu Zimo and finally said in a low voice, “Are you really going to wade into this mess?”

“Are you threatening me?” Xu Zimo narrowed his eyes and asked calmly.

“Not really,” Yellow Moon shook her head. “This matter has nothing to do with you in the first place. Once we get to Phoenix Wing City, we’ll go our separate ways. What does the fate of the Phoenix Perch Empire have to do with you?”

Xu Zimo gave a light laugh and replied flatly, “Then tell your people to watch themselves. If they provoke me, I won’t mind spending some time wiping them out.”

“Once you truly understand the True God Cult, you’ll realize how naïve that statement is.”

Yellow Moon didn’t argue, she simply stated the facts calmly.

“How does it compare to an imperial lineage?” Xu Zimo asked, eyes narrowing.

“It’s at least as strong, if not stronger,” Yellow Moon answered.

“And what about a lineage with four emperors?” he asked.

Yellow Moon was silent for a moment, then gave Xu Zimo a long look and said nothing more.

As the two were talking, Yellow Star suddenly turned around and shouted, “What are you two doing back there? Hurry up!”

Xu Zimo smiled and quickened his pace.

Just as the group reached the corner of the street, they were drawn to a noisy commotion.

In front of a pharmacy, a large crowd had gathered. Two servants were holding onto a young girl, who was struggling desperately.

“What’s going on?” Yellow Star frowned at the sight and quickly walked over.

With his strong sense of justice, and the authority of the Three Divisions to oversee and inspect all affairs, he stepped in.

“Father, save me! Save me!”

The girl cried out.

At the entrance of the pharmacy, a man in a gray robe tried to approach but was held back by two guards.

“Master Luo, take it out on me instead. Let my daughter go!”

The gray-robed man shouted toward a young man nearby.

The youth, slick and pampered-looking, wore a light blue robe with black flower patterns.

He held a folding fan and smiled as he said, “Old Zhang, this is Phoenix Cry City. What I say goes. Letting your daughter become my concubine will bring her a life of luxury. Isn’t that a great deal?”

“Master Luo, I’m begging you, please let her go,” the gray-robed man pleaded.

But the young man in blue ignored him, simply watching as his guards restrained the girl.

The surrounding townspeople sighed softly at the scene.

They didn’t dare speak up, only whispering among themselves.

“Zhang Bin really is unlucky. I heard they just moved to Phoenix Cry City and finally saved enough to open a pharmacy. Who knew his daughter would catch Luo Jin’s eye?”

“Keep your voice down. Luo Jin is the city lord’s son. If he hears you, you're finished.”

“I actually think it's not so bad. If Zhang Bin’s daughter marries Young Master Luo, she’ll live in luxury.”

“You don’t know anything. I’ve heard Luo Jin is twisted, he likes torturing women. No woman who’s been with him has ever walked away unscathed.”

“No way!”

Ignoring the crowd's murmurs, Yellow Star strode forward and threw the two guards aside.

“Are you alright?” he asked the girl urgently.

The girl didn’t respond. She simply curled up and trembled in fear.

Seeing this, Yellow Star frowned even more deeply.

He looked at Luo Jin and said coldly, “I want to ask what crime this girl has committed. And who exactly are you to arrest her?”

“A nosy stranger, are you?” Luo Jin fanned himself and smiled.

“And who the hell are you to meddle in my affairs?”

“Courting death,” Yellow Star narrowed his eyes and raised his hand to strike.

Already frustrated over Yellow Moon’s situation, he welcomed the chance to vent his anger.

As his palm came crashing down, the surrounding spiritforce surged violently.

A loud rumble echoed around them.

Luo Jin froze in place at the sight of the strike.

He quickly snapped out of it and screamed in panic, “Guard Shen! Are you going to just watch me die?”

As he shouted, the space beside him rippled.

A figure slowly emerged from the void.

It was a man in a purple robe with a sword at his waist. His aura was also formidable.

Xu Zimo glanced at him and immediately recognized him as someone who had just stepped into the Imperial Meridian Realm.

As Yellow Star’s powerful strike descended, the man frowned and gathered purple spiritforce around his hands.

He raised them to block Yellow Star’s attack head-on.

A thunderous boom erupted overhead.

“A speck of light dares to compete with the full moon?” Yellow Star sneered.

Without holding back, he poured even more force into his hand.

The man faltered, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and was sent flying.

Yellow Star then swung his hand and slapped Luo Jin hard across the face.

Smack!

With a loud crack and a pained scream, Luo Jin was sent flying as well.

“You dare hit me?” Luo Jin struggled to stand, clutching his swollen face in disbelief.

“I’d rather kill you,” Yellow Star replied coldly.

Hearing that, whatever Luo Jin was about to say froze in his throat.

He turned to the man in purple and yelled, “Useless! All of you are useless!”

“Master Luo, you’d best be more respectful,” the man in purple wiped the blood from his mouth and said calmly.

“Your father helped me break through to the Imperial Meridian Realm, and I agreed to protect your life. That doesn’t make me your servant.”

“Abducting women in broad daylight and charging illegal entrance fees... I’m really curious to see what kind of city lord you have,” Yellow Sun said coolly.

“Let’s bring him to the city lord,” Yellow Star said, grabbing Luo Jin.

Like lifting a chicken, he carried him toward the city lord’s mansion.

“Let go of me! I can walk on my own,” Luo Jin shouted and struggled.

Smack!

Another slap silenced him quickly.

The city lord’s mansion was located in the most prosperous part of Phoenix Cry City.

At the intersection of several main roads, right in the center of the city.

The massive estate looked grand and luxurious.

At the entrance stood two large red lions carved from fine white jade.
