I Really Am A Villain -
Ch. 437 - Yellow Moon's River of Fate
The three of them chased for only a few minutes before capturing all ten or so fleeing figures.
That was also why they chose to pursue, if these people had been powerful, Yellow Sun and the others wouldn’t have bothered.
When Yellow Star removed the black veils covering their faces, he saw they all looked panicked and immediately began begging for mercy.
Clearly, they hadn’t expected to encounter such strong opponents this time.
“Who are you?” Yellow Star asked, frowning.
“You’d better tell the truth, or you’ll wish you were dead.”
“Please spare us, sir. My name is Wu Jiang. We’re all just rogue cultivators!” said the man in the middle without hesitation, begging for his life.
“Then speak, what were you doing at the inn?” Yellow Sun asked calmly.
“We had no purpose! Someone found us and asked us to sneak into your rooms tonight and then leave right away.”
Wu Jiang quickly explained, “We didn’t even do anything!”
“Yeah, that’s right!” the other rogue cultivators nodded.
“Something’s wrong, Yellow Moon is in danger.”
Hearing this, Yellow Sun immediately realized what was happening.
He leapt into the air and rushed back toward the inn.
The inn wasn’t far. In less than a minute, they had all arrived.
But when they reached the inn, Yellow Sun and the others were struck with shock and rage.
They saw Yellow Moon lying in a pool of blood, her life or death uncertain.
And the three black-robed men, who had been tied up, had been hacked into minced flesh, so gruesome they could barely be looked at.
“Moon!” Yellow Sun rushed to her side, picked her up, and checked her condition.
He shouted, “She’s still breathing, still breathing! Guard me, I’m going to treat her.”
An Empyrean Meridian Realm cultivator’s strength lay in the fact that as long as their true life force wasn’t broken, even serious injuries could slowly be healed.
Although Yellow Moon was severely injured, her true life force remained intact.
So after about an hour of treatment from Yellow Sun, she slowly regained consciousness.
She looked very weak.
“Elder of the Heretic God Cult...” she said faintly.
“Don’t speak yet. We already know. Just rest,” Yellow Sun nodded, his face pale.
Yellow Moon gave a slight nod and, with Yellow Star’s help, returned to her room.
Yellow Sun stood up and turned to Xu Zimo.
“Master Xu, sorry to trouble you tonight. We need to stay and guard Yue’er. Please get some rest.”
“Can you tell me more about the Heretic God Cult?” Xu Zimo asked.
He wasn’t going to sleep anyway, so he figured he might as well learn more about the cult.
Their power had indeed exceeded expectations.
“To be honest, we don’t know much either. Those we’ve captured before would rather die than reveal anything,” Yellow Sun said with a sigh.
“I only know some general details about their structure. Besides the cult leader, who is revered as the True God, they have four Guardians and four Vajras. The guardians are named after the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. The Four Vajras are Descending Dragon, Subduing Tiger, Wrathful Eyes, and Prajna.”
Xu Zimo nodded. After chatting with Yellow Sun a bit longer, he returned to his room.
Yellow Sun and the others might have been too focused on Yellow Moon’s injury to notice anything odd.
But Xu Zimo sensed something wasn’t right.
It had only taken them a few minutes to chase those rogue cultivators. How could Yellow Moon have been severely wounded in that short time?
Unless her attacker was far stronger, perhaps a God Meridian or even an Immortal Path cultivator.
But if the enemy really was that strong, why go through all the trouble of using rogue cultivators as a distraction? Why not just attack head-on?
Back in his room, Xu Zimo sat cross-legged.
His consciousness entered his True Fate World.
With a wave of his hands, the Primordial Chaos Bead floated slowly from the void.
It broke through layers of space, radiating the aura of the Dao as it hovered mid-air.
Xu Zimo used the Primordial Chaos Bead to once again enter the River of Fate.
The River of Fate drifted silently through the cosmic sky, like a Milky Way hanging upside down.
This river was formed from the destinies of countless beings across the Primordial Heartlands.
As the long river rippled slightly, no one would ever guess that in the quiet void of space, every person’s fate could be viewed so freely.
……
A long while later, Xu Zimo slowly opened his eyes.
He smiled lightly, took a deep breath, and shook his head.
Peering into the River of Fate consumed a great deal of energy.
What surprised him most was the vastness of the Heretic God Cult’s power. On the surface, the Phoenix Perch Empire seemed prosperous and strong, a land of peace and stability.
But underneath, it was already riddled with holes and teeming with dark undercurrents.
Still, none of that mattered to Xu Zimo. As long as the cult didn’t provoke him, he had no interest in meddling.
After attending his grandfather’s birthday celebration and settling the matters related to Sword Immortal Jiang Yun, he planned to head to the Endless Sky Sea to search for Supreme-Yang Solar-Illumination.
Then he would try to advance to the God Meridian Realm.
The moment of the Heaven’s Will forming was drawing closer. Once he reached the God Meridian Realm, his plans would be halfway complete.
Whether it was the Second or Third Battle Physique, or even the reincarnation of Baili Xiao, none of them worried him anymore.
He no longer considered his peers as rivals, Xu Zimo now aimed for the older generation.
After all, true battle doesn’t care about your age.
The night passed in silence. Because of Yellow Moon’s injuries, the group decided to stay in Phoenix Cry City for a few days.
Then they would take the teleportation array to Phoenix Wing City, the capital of the Phoenix Perch Empire.
Xu Zimo came downstairs and saw that Yellow Sun and the others were already having breakfast on the first floor.
“Brother Xu,” Yellow Star greeted him as he came down.
“How’s Miss Yellow Moon? She looks much better,” Xu Zimo asked with a smile as he sat down.
“She’s fine now. Though the injuries were serious, her true life wasn’t damaged,” Yellow Star replied.
“Brother Xu, you should also be cautious. Moon said the one who attacked her last night was Prajna, one of the Four Vajras of the Cult.”
“I will,” Xu Zimo smiled and nodded.
After breakfast, they decided to explore Phoenix Cry City a bit.
As they left the inn, the streets were bustling with people.
Vendors on both sides were shouting and selling their goods enthusiastically.
With Yellow Sun and Yellow Star walking ahead, Xu Zimo quietly smiled and asked Yellow Moon, “Miss Yellow Moon, your status in the Heretic God Cult must be pretty high, right?”
Hearing this, Yellow Moon’s expression froze.
A trace of killing intent flickered in her eyes, but then she smiled and said, “Master Xu, I don’t understand what you mean.”
“You killed those three black-robed men last night, didn’t you?” Xu Zimo asked calmly.
“What do you think their reaction would be if they found out their long-time comrade was a spy from the Cult?”
