I Really Am A Villain -
Ch. 417 - The Old Woman Pulling A Cart
Watching Xu Zimo walk toward them step by step, both the black-haired man and the old man in green had slight changes in expression.
“Who exactly are you?” the old man in green asked seriously.
“What difference does it make if you know? Do you think you’ll leave here alive today?” Xu Zimo said calmly.
“What good would killing us do for you? Do you really want to make an enemy of the Celestial Tiger Empire?” the old man continued. “You might as well let us go and settle this peacefully.”
“You’re mistaken. So what if I become an enemy of the Celestial Tiger Empire?” Xu Zimo smiled and shook his head. “I don’t even take your Falling Insect Race seriously.”
“If you’re going to kill us, then do it. Why so much nonsense?” the black-haired man said coldly.
His expression was calm, looking at Xu Zimo with some hatred, completely unconcerned about life or death.
Xu Zimo smiled but didn’t say anything.
Spiritforce surged in his hands, and black demonic energy burst forth.
With a wave of his right hand, the surrounding air rippled with mountainous waves of energy.
Then, the black-haired man and the old man in green vanished from where they stood.
When they reappeared, they were already inside Xu Zimo’s True Fate World.
Of course, Xu Zimo didn’t give them much time to look around.
The moment they appeared, they were thrown directly to the location of the Bauhinia Flower.
Because earlier, Xu Zimo had sensed a conscious thought from the Bauhinia Flower.
It wanted Xu Zimo to bring it food.
Xu Zimo also wanted to see what exactly this Bauhinia Flower was.
An Immortal Path and a Divine Meridian realm cultivator, this was the perfect nourishment.
When the two were thrown in front of the strange Bauhinia Flower, black mist began to rise from the flower.
The mist surged into the sky and quickly enveloped both of them.
The old man in green and the black-haired man struggled desperately.
But they were both heavily injured and had lost nearly all their strength.
Soon, the black mist churned and swallowed both of them.
The Bauhinia Flower began digesting their bodies, using them as nutrients.
Xu Zimo then exited his True Fate world. Seeing no one around, he walked toward Carefree City.
On the way, he took out the Wind-Destroying Pearl to examine it.
A single Wind-Destroying Pearl didn’t do much on its own, but if all Five Spirit Orbs were gathered, it was said they could change the fate of the entire Primordial Heartlands.
...
Xu Zimo had heard a legend before, though no one knew if it was true.
At that time, the Primordial Heartlands were still a single landmass. The five continents didn’t exist yet.
The timeline was even older than the Legendary Era, and even further back, there had been a great war on the continent.
Of course, this was all rumor. No details of that war had survived.
That war nearly changed the entire structure of the continent.
The whole landmass was shattered, almost sinking into the bottom of the Endless Sky Sea.
Eventually, the continent split into five parts.
At first, the five continents weren’t stable.
Whenever storms raged across the Endless Sky Sea, with towering waves and howling winds, the five continents would drift, sink, flood, and even break apart.
Countless lives were lost.
It was an era when all life barely clung to survival, never knowing if tomorrow or disaster would come first.
Some might not even wake up from sleep before their entire land vanished.
Later, Heaven took pity on the living and condensed part of the world’s essence into Five Spirit Orbs of different elements.
These pearls were used to stabilize each continent.
Many years later, the five continents gradually became stable.
The Five Spirit Orbs, after stabilizing the lands, turned into five streaks of light and scattered across the continents.
Legend says that whoever can gather all Five Spirit Orbs will gain the power to reshape the Primordial Heartlands.
Xu Zimo looked at the deep green orb in his hand. Who could imagine how much power it held?
Within the Wind-Destroying Pearl was a wind called the World-Destroying God-Wind.
It was said that in its ultimate form, this wind could darken the heavens, frighten ghosts and gods, shatter rocks and cliffs, and take lives with a single gust. Incredibly powerful.
Xu Zimo was now trying to control this divine wind.
But first, the pearl had to recognize him as its master.
He placed it inside his True Fate World, letting the Primordial Chaos Bead suppress it.
After some time, it should be tamed.
Though he hadn’t spent long inside the cave, time flowed differently within.
In the outside world, about seven days had already passed.
By evening, Xu Zimo returned to Carefree City.
By that time, the city was completely quiet, and the streets were bleak and empty.
Darkness, like a silent beast, had swallowed the entire city.
As Xu Zimo walked in, occasional gusts of wind stirred up dust, which then drifted off into the distance.
A creaking sound came from one end of the street.
Xu Zimo looked up slightly, darkness filled the street ahead.
That creaking sound was like the harsh scraping of wheels against the ground, shrill and unpleasant.
A strange gust of wind blew past, carrying a few green leaves that landed at Xu Zimo’s feet.
This wind was icy cold, oddly chilling for a warm spring day.
Xu Zimo bent down slightly and picked up one of the leaves.
The leaf was strange, covered in countless tiny barbs.
It was oval-shaped and had a faint smell, similar to that of a toon tree leaf.
Xu Zimo had never seen a leaf like this before.
He put it in his pocket and continued walking.
The farther he walked down the street, the louder the creaking sound became.
Finally, at the corner of the street, a small cart slowly rolled toward Xu Zimo.
The cart was being pushed by an old woman.
She wore a brown outfit that looked like tree bark.
It was unclear what material it was made from.
Her hair spread out on top of her head, looking like iron branches with silver blossoms.
Her face was waxy yellow, full of creases and deep wrinkles.
Her skin bunched up so much that when she smiled, it looked more like she was crying.
She hunched over as she pushed the small cart slowly down the street.
Her movements were very slow, each small step seemed to carry a strange kind of magic.
One moment she was far away at the end of the street, and the next, just the blink of an eye, she appeared not far from you.
The cart was also brown, covered with a brown cloth, making it impossible to see what was inside.
...
With the cart’s old wheels screeching harshly on the ground, the old woman’s hunched figure stopped in front of Xu Zimo.
She suddenly turned and stared straight at him.
“Do you need something?” Xu Zimo asked calmly.
“Have a fruit,” the old woman rasped.
Her eyes were strange, enough to make one’s skin crawl.
