I Really Am A Villain
Ch. 351 - Old Jade Village

“If you really want the answer, just keep moving forward,” Xu Zimo said with a smile.

“The answer lies ahead and will only get closer.”

Death God Qin felt like Xu Zimo was being deliberately vague, but he still nodded.

The two of them walked for three days and nights, and finally, at dawn on the fourth day, they walked out of the vast ruins.

When they reached the edge of the ruins, they realized the area was sealed off by a formation.

However, the formation wasn’t completely sealed, there was a gate of light left open in the front.

Xu Zimo and Death God Qin stepped through the light gate, and their vision brightened.

Before them stretched a vast plain.

The endless sky disappeared at the horizon.

And on both sides of the gate behind them, there were actually two guards standing.

When the two walked out, the guards didn’t react at first.

Then came two panicked screams. The guards turned and ran as fast as they could into the distance, shouting, “The evil spirits are out! The evil spirits are attacking!”

Death God Qin was confused and looked at Xu Zimo in puzzlement.

After running some distance, the guards launched signal flares into the sky to alert others.

“What do we do now?” Death God Qin asked.

“Wait and see,” Xu Zimo replied calmly.

Although he understood much about the Buddha Burial Temple, he didn’t know everything.

He had no idea where exactly they were now.

Just as they were about to leave, they saw a group of people rushing over from the distance.

Leading them was an old man in a blue robe.

He held a curved blade in his hand that emitted dark energy.

At the sight of the blade, Death God Qin frowned slightly.

He remembered that black aura, it was identical to the evil energy used by the Evil Ancestor.

The old man held the blade protectively in front of him and looked at the two of them with great caution.

The others following him hid behind him, either afraid or curious, watching the two newcomers.

“Is there a problem?” Death God Qin asked calmly.

“Are you evil spirits?” the old man asked, taking a deep breath.

“What evil spirits?” Death God Qin was stunned.

“Evil spirits from outside this world. The enforcers left a warning, any beings that emerge from the ruins are likely connected to the evil spirits,” the old man quickly explained.

Death God Qin looked at Xu Zimo, then turned back and said, “We’re not evil spirits. We don’t even know what you’re talking about.”

“Then let me strike you with my blade. If you’re not afraid of the holy light on it, that means you’re not evil spirits,” the old man said cautiously.

“Holy light?” Death God Qin laughed. “Your blade is soaked in evil energy. Only real evil spirits wouldn’t fear its corruption. Where’s the holy light?”

“Nonsense! This is an Evil-Slaying Blade issued by the Hall of Enforcement. How could it be wrong?” the old man snapped.

“I think you’re the ones with the problem.”

These people were weak, most of them barely had any cultivation. A few were at the Spirit Meridian realm, and many were just ordinary people.

Seeing Death God Qin’s rising frustration, he looked like he might slap them all dead in one go.

Xu Zimo quickly shook his head and said, “Just let them hit you. It won’t hurt you anyway. I’ve got a few questions for them.”

Death God Qin thought for a moment. He knew what he came here for, for the sake of the Dark Primordial Race, so this wasn’t a big deal.

“Fine. Hit me,” he said, stepping forward and holding out his right arm.

The old man hesitated, then struck hard with the curved blade.

A “puff” sound was heard as the blade sliced into Death God Qin’s flesh.

But nothing happened. His wound instantly healed.

In truth, with Death God Qin’s strength, a low-level weapon like that couldn’t even scratch him.

He only allowed the cut to play along.

...

Seeing this, the old man finally relaxed.

The cautious look in his eyes faded.

“As long as you’re not evil spirits, it’s fine,” the old man said.

“Where are you from? Why did you come out of the forbidden ruins?”

Just as Death God Qin was about to answer, Xu Zimo quickly said, “We’re from Fireflow City. We went out on a trip together and got lost. Next thing we knew, we ended up in the ruins.”

“Then you must have wandered into the forbidden area by mistake,” the old man nodded.

“This World of Light is huge. Many people spend their whole lives and never see all of it.”

Xu Zimo smiled and nodded.

The World of Light, the Hall of Enforcement, he’d picked up some important information.

Most people here were ordinary and couldn’t fly.

It was indeed difficult to explore the whole realm.

This old man clearly thought they were locals from the World of Light.

...

“Where is this Fireflow City of yours? Is it far from our Old Jade Village?” the old man asked.

“We’re not sure where we are. Do you have a map we could look at?” Xu Zimo asked with a smile.

“There is a map, but it only shows the area around our village. We haven’t traveled beyond it, so we can’t draw a map of other places,” the old man replied.

“Then, elder, could we stay in your village for a while?” Xu Zimo smiled. “We’ll leave as soon as we find our way home.”

“Well...” the old man looked back at his people, hesitating.

“We’re willing to pay,” Xu Zimo quickly pulled out some spirit stones.

At the sight of the spirit stones, there was a burst of surprised gasps from the crowd.

The reason these people couldn’t cultivate wasn’t because they lacked talent.

It was because the world lacked spiritforce.

Most places didn’t have any spiritforce at all.

And even if they learned how to cultivate, they couldn’t progress without it.

...

“A friend from afar is always welcome,” the old man said with a smile, accepting the stones.

The group headed toward Old Jade Village.

On the way, Death God Qin looked at the old man curiously and asked, “Why do you call the ruins a forbidden area?”

“A long time ago, a group of evil spirits crossed over from another dimension and tried to take over our world,” the old man replied. “Then heroes from the Hall of Enforcement defeated them. That’s why we call that battlefield the forbidden ruins. The enforcers warned that the evil spirits may return one day.”

Hearing this, Death God Qin frowned slightly.

His mind was even more confused.

If Sage Yicheng once led the people of the Buddha Realm to fight the Blood-Devouring Evil Race there, and they ultimately lost, then who exactly were these so-called ‘evil spirits’ these people spoke of?
