Ch. 252 - Obtaining The Fate-Reversing Pearl

When Xu Zimo opened his eyes, he found himself back in the Elden Lands, though he didn’t know when or how he had returned.

Xu Zimo closed his eyes gently, sensing the immense boost from mastering the War God’s Nine Transformations.

This divine art greatly amplified his power, but it came with a price.

Each time it was used, his body would enter a weakened state for a period afterward.

Stepping out from the evolving illusion of the Elden Lands, Xu Zimo returned to the Divine Gate.

“You really came out?” the God Emperor asked in surprise.

After all, in all past evolutions of the Elden Lands, only Grand Emperors had ever come out alive.

And Xu Zimo was merely an Imperial Meridian Realm cultivator.

“I need you to do something for me,” Xu Zimo said calmly.

Meanwhile, deep within the Elden Lands...

With every shift in the evolving scenes, heaven and earth rumbled, and endless spiritforce roared throughout the land.

In a hidden pocket of absolute darkness, a coffin floated silently in mid-air.

Time was frozen around it, no one knew how long it had remained there.

Above the coffin hovered the image of a clock.

It had twenty-four ticks, and with each new evolution in the Elden Lands, the clock’s hand would move one position.

Now, as a “click-click” echoed clearly through the still darkness, the clock reached its final mark.

“Crack.”

The coffin lid slowly opened. As it vanished, a woman in a blue dress suddenly sat up from within.

She stepped out gently. Her long blue gown spread out over the land like a field of blooming flowers.

Then, that clock, which had just completed its cycle, began rotating backward at high speed.

A beam of light shot out from the clock.

Within it, the faint image of a man slowly formed.

The woman looked around in confusion. But when she saw the silhouette clearly, she cried out in shock:

“Tianshi!”

“Qing’er, it’s been a long time,” the man smiled affectionately.

“Tianshi, what’s going on?” the woman, Lin Qing, asked in confusion.

With a wave of his hand, Tianshi (the Time Emperor) revealed a scene filled with countless time-reversal currents in the dark space.

A river of time, glowing in five-colored light, descended from the sky.

Tianshi smiled and said, “Go ahead. This is the inheritance I prepared for you. Once you receive it, you’ll understand everything.”

Lin Qing nodded and stepped fearlessly into the River of Time.

Watching her enter, Tianshi finally sighed in relief and murmured, “It worked.”

Just then, footsteps echoed nearby.

Tianshi’s expression sharpened. He waved his hand, and the power of time surged through the space. The darkness trembled with overwhelming force.

“Please, don’t act rashly, Time Emperor, I come on someone else’s behalf,” the figure said urgently.

As the shadows dissipated, it was revealed to be the God Emperor.

Tianshi looked him over and said coldly, “You’d better have a good explanation.”

The God Emperor smiled, reached into his robe, and took out a jade pendant, offering it to Tianshi.

“Xu Zimo… my junior brother,” he said softly.

At the sight of the pendant, Tianshi fell into thought, closing his eyes.

He murmured, “Something left behind by our ancestor…”

The God Emperor continued, “Time really is amazing. In the blink of an eye, so many years have passed.”

Tianshi nodded in agreement. Then he reached into the void and pulled out a round pearl, handing it to the God Emperor.

“Take it. This is the Fate-Reversing Pearl. It has a small chance of altering someone’s destiny. I trust you to use it wisely.”

The God Emperor stared at the pearl in surprise.

It looked ordinary, but up close, there was something deeply unnatural about it.

Tianshi added, “If you truly manage to change Xu Zimo’s fate, tell him I’ll be waiting in the Upper Realm.”

The God Emperor nodded. With a wave of Tianshi’s hand, the darkness vanished, and the God Emperor was returned to the Elden Lands.

Back at the Divine Gate, the God Emperor looked at Xu Zimo and asked,

“How do you know the Time Emperor? That man existed many eras ago.”

Xu Zimo just smiled, not answering. He held the Fate-Reversing Pearl in his hand.

The God Emperor persisted, “What does the Ancient Remnant Curse of the Elden Lands have to do with him? You owe me at least that answer.”

Xu Zimo replied, “It doesn’t concern you. You just need to know one thing: From today on, the Ancient Remnant Curse will vanish.”

The God Emperor fell silent. After a long while, he said quietly, “You’re even more mysterious than I thought.”

About the Elden Lands…

Many people knew that it was once the ruins of the Greensky Tribe, a tribe from the Legendary Era.

Long ago, the Time Emperor had conceived the idea of the Fate-Reversing Pearl.

But an accident had caused him to be thrown back into the Legendary Era.

It was a pivotal chapter in his life, where he also fell in love with a woman.

“Lin Qing!”

But they belonged to different eras.

After returning to the present, he worked tirelessly on the Dao of Time, determined to change fate.

After finally accepting the mantle of destiny, he made his idea real.

Thus, the Fate-Reversing Pearl was born.

With it, people could travel back in time to alter someone’s past, which would, in turn, change their future.

This artifact was truly defiant of Heaven’s Will.

Because of that, when Tianshi tried to create more pearls, the Heavenly Dao itself intervened.

As he neared the creation of the fourth Fate-Reversing Pearl, heavenly tribulation rained down to stop him.

It was a severe violation of natural law.

In the end, he was forced to stop.

Only three Fate-Reversing Pearls now exist in the world.

One was used to change Lin Qing’s destiny.

Everything else, the Elden Lands, the Ancient Remnant Curse, were protective layers he placed to shield himself while reversing fate.

The evolution of the Elden Lands was just a side-effect of that process.

Before performing the reversal, Tianshi had set countless false worlds as traps.

Only one world, the true Legendary Era, was real. The rest were filled with hidden dangers.

Those who entered blindly died within.

But Xu Zimo, having glimpsed the truth through the River of Fate, was able to locate the correct world.

When a person tries to reverse another’s destiny, their own fate becomes intertwined.

Xu Zimo’s arrival didn’t change the outcome.

He simply added himself to the story.
