“All right, have the three elders stay. Everyone else can leave,” Chi Yuanbin said calmly with a wave of his hand.

Once the others had cleared the hall, a lingering frown remained on Chi Yuanbin’s brow. He sighed, “So much trouble lately in our clan.”

“If it weren’t for the seal on the Elden Lands malfunctioning and tying up most of our forces, we wouldn’t have had to compromise with a brat like that,” the Grand Elder snorted.

“Grand Elder, weren't you the first one to chicken out just now?” the Second Elder said with a chuckle.

The Grand Elder scoffed. “I was thinking of the clan. I put aside personal pride and dignity to de-escalate the situation quickly. If a God Meridian Realm beast goes berserk, who among us could stop it?”

“Enough. I didn’t keep you here to argue,” Chi Yuanbin said coolly. “Let’s figure out how we handle this.”

“What else is there to do? That brat can’t live here forever. We should get rid of this walking disaster before he brings more trouble,” the Grand Elder said flatly.

“I actually think this is a rare opportunity for our Chi Imperial Clan,” the usually quiet Third Elder said.

“What do you mean?” Chi Yuanbin turned to him in confusion.

“Well, since that young man has a God Meridian Realm beast at his command, why not try to win him over?” the Third Elder said with a smile. “It was just a misunderstanding. There’s no deep grudge.”

“How exactly do we win him over? What do we have to offer?” asked the Grand Elder.

“Chi Qianxue,” the Third Elder said word by word. “Young men can rarely resist beauty and fame.

Whatever he wants, so long as it isn’t outrageous, we give it to him.”

Chi Yuanbin frowned, deep in thought.

“Think about it, Patriarch,” the Third Elder continued. “With a God Meridian beast, the strength of our Chi Imperial Clan would skyrocket. Among the six imperial lineages at the heart of Eastern Continent, excluding the Supreme Primal Sacred Ground, if we could get that beast on our side, we could overpower the remaining four imperial lineages.”

Chi Yuanbin took a deep breath, as if making a major decision.

“Then I’ll leave this matter to you,” he said, turning to the Third Elder. “Tell Chi Qianxue, if she can win that young man over, we’ll agree to anything she wants.”

“Don’t worry, Patriarch. I’ll convince Chi Qianxue,” the Third Elder replied confidently. “The clan has raised her all these years. It’s about time she gave something back. Not to mention, she’s our current Saintess and is about to receive the Ancestor’s inheritance.”

Chi Yuanbin nodded, his gaze deep as he looked into the distance.

...

“Boss, did I make you proud?” Chaos asked with a flattering grin, “My entrance was badass, right?”

“Barely passable,” Xu Zimo replied.

“Then, Boss, how about that thing you promised me, reviving the beast race?” Chaos asked tentatively.

“What’s the rush? That’s not something that can be done overnight,” Xu Zimo said. “I’ve only given you the opportunity. Whether you succeed or not depends on you. You’ll need both luck and strength.”

“I understand, I understand!” Chaos nodded excitedly. “I just can’t wait to know what it feels like to be a hero.”

Xu Zimo chuckled, spiritforce swirling in his hands as he summoned the massive vortex once more into midair.

Chaos looked at him pitifully. “Boss, I just got out. Let me stay outside a little longer.”

“I’ve always been curious about one thing,” Xu Zimo said. “Are you male or female?”

“Boss, well… which do you prefer?” Chaos suddenly asked coyly.

“You trying to die...?” Xu Zimo narrowed his eyes.

“I’m male! A real man!” Chaos instantly straightened up and replied seriously.

“Good. Then as a man, you should know to protect yourself when you're out and about. Now get back into your pocket dimension, safer there,” Xu Zimo said.

After returning Chaos to the alternate space, Xu Zimo went back to his room.

Not long after, Chi Qianxue arrived, holding a purple box.

Xu Zimo instantly recognized it, it was the relic from Grand Emperor Bing Xue’s inheritance he had requested.

“Didn’t you say you’d receive the inheritance tomorrow?” Xu Zimo asked curiously.

“The clan allowed me to retrieve it early,” Chi Qianxue replied after a pause.

Xu Zimo took the purple box and, seeing the curiosity in her eyes, smiled and stored it in his spatial ring without opening it.

“You need something else?” he asked when he saw her still standing there.

Chi Qianxue hesitated, then gathered her courage and asked, “What do you think of me?”

Xu Zimo blinked, then burst into laughter, saying with interest, “Someone from your clan put you up to this, didn’t they?”

“Well, yes. But also… this is partly my own will,” Chi Qianxue said seriously, looking him in the eyes. “I think you’re… different.”

Xu Zimo stood up, looked her over, and leaned in close to whisper in her ear: “Would you like to be my wife?”

Chi Qianxue froze.

In that moment, her whole body tensed up, and her heart felt like it skipped a beat.

She struggled to calm the storm of emotions inside.

Every word from Xu Zimo seemed to carry an irresistible pull that made her unable to look away.

Looking into his eyes, she said softly, “I don’t know yet. But if you're willing, we can take it slow.”

“Great,” Xu Zimo smiled, his gaze intense and mischievous, almost predatory.

“Because you know, my favorite method of cultivating is… killing my wife to prove the Dao.”

The moment those words landed, it was as if Chi Qianxue had fallen into a frozen cavern.

Her excitement turned instantly into fear.

Her body, already tense, now trembled uncontrollably.

“You fool, I’m joking,” Xu Zimo laughed. “So, do you still want to be my wife?”

Chi Qianxue felt as if something had lodged in her throat, she couldn’t speak.

Looking at his smiling face, an unexplained fear rose from deep within her.

“Leave. Don’t disturb my rest,” Xu Zimo waved her off and sat down in a chair.

Chi Qianxue immediately exhaled, relieved, and quickly nodded before hurrying out of the room.

After she left, Xu Zimo finally retrieved the purple box from his spatial ring.
