I Really Am A Villain
Ch. 163 - Mysterious Youth

📢 New Novel Launch!

The Supreme Primal Sacred Ground was founded 30,000 years ago. Its founder, Grand Emperor Tai Yuan, was originally a wandering cultivator.

Though his life wasn’t as glorious as Grand Emperor Zhen Wu or Grand Empress Hongtian, it was no less legendary.

During that era, the Holy Sons and Daughters of the various lineages fought over the Heaven’s Will in a final battle, above the Heavenly Sea.

That battle was unimaginably brutal. It was said that half of the Heavenly Sea was dyed blood red.

No one had expected that the final victor, the one to bear the Heaven's Will, would be Grand Emperor Tai Yuan.

As a lone rogue cultivator, he had defeated all the Holy Sons and Daughters from the major Imperial Lineages.

His story was rewritten into countless legends and widely spread. Among the rogue cultivators of the Primordial Heartlands, Grand Emperor Tai Yuan was revered even more than other Grand Emperors.

Initially, Grand Emperor Tai Yuan had no intention of establishing a sect. He had planned to find a suitable successor, pass on everything he had learned in his life, and then ascend from the mortal realm.

…

It was during this time that a man appeared who would leave a profound impact on Supreme Primal Sacred Ground.

His name was Luo Tian, the founder of Supreme Primal Sacred Ground and the personal successor of Grand Emperor Tai Yuan.

Back then, Grand Emperor Tai Yuan, as a rogue cultivator, shouldered the Heaven's Will and was worshipped by countless people, especially because the hardships of rogue cultivators were universally acknowledged.

But even though there had been many Grand Emperors and many rogue cultivators throughout history, very few ever ascended as rogue cultivators. Grand Emperor Tai Yuan was one of those rare exceptions.

His successor, Luo Tian, didn’t want Grand Emperor Tai Yuan’s legacy to fade into obscurity. Yet, he also understood that he lacked the ability to follow the same path, defying all powers and achieving enlightenment on his own.

That path was too difficult.

Eventually, Luo Tian returned to the core region of the Eastern Continent, bringing with him everything Grand Emperor Tai Yuan had passed down, and founded Supreme Primal Sacred Ground.

The name "Supreme Primal" was chosen in honor of Grand Emperor Tai Yuan.

No one expected that after several generations of development, the sect would thrive under Luo Tian’s leadership. Talents flourished, and vitality surged within its ranks.

Eventually, through many turbulent eras, Supreme Primal Sacred Ground produced another man, he stood atop the heavens, bore the Heaven's Will, and was granted the imperial title Heng Yu.

With two Grand Emperors in its history, Supreme Primal Sacred Ground became a dominant force in the Eastern Continent's core region, a holy land countless cultivators dreamed of joining.

…

It was a rainy late autumn.

The sun was nowhere to be seen. Clouds loomed thick in the sky, dark and ominous, casting a terrifying shadow over the land.

The chill in the air hinted that a storm was imminent.

Yet even in such weather, the base of the Holy Mountain was ablaze with activity.

Countless young men had gathered at the mountain’s foot, staring up longingly at the mist-covered mountaintop.

Although they couldn’t see the full view of Supreme Primal Sacred Ground, even a glimpse of the massive gate filled them with awe and desire.

Today was the sect’s day for recruiting servant disciples. As the name suggests, these disciples were mainly brought in to do chores and manual labor.

They weren’t even considered official outer disciples and held no status or rights in the sect.

In the past, many had been beaten to death for failing tasks, no one cared.

Despite this, countless youths had arrived at the crack of dawn, terrified of missing this narrow chance.

Such was the desperation of a rogue cultivator’s life: for even the smallest opportunity, they would risk everything.

…

The sect gates slowly creaked open, like hope blooming in the hearts of those waiting below.

“Recruitment for Supreme Primal Sacred Ground’s servant disciples begins now. Form an orderly line and climb the mountain one by one. Any who cause chaos will face the consequences.”

A white-robed inner disciple stood on the mountain, his voice clear and commanding.

As his voice fell, the crowd below quickly formed a line and began climbing.

The requirements for servant disciples were low, as long as one's cultivation was passable and they were physically fit, they had a chance.

By the time the youths, drenched in sweat, reached the summit, a gentle breeze welcomed them.

Two white-robed inner disciples sat waiting at the top.

“Senior brother, my name is Wang Jing. I’ve come to apply for the servant disciple test,” said the first youth earnestly.

“What’s your cultivation?” one of the inner disciples asked coolly.

“Just reached the Spirit Meridian Realm,” the youth replied and opened his first meridian to prove it.

The inner disciple thought for a moment, then said flatly, “Not qualified.”

“But senior brother, didn’t the announcement say Spirit Meridian Realm is enough? Why am I not qualified?” the youth asked anxiously.

“Because I said so. Keep arguing and I won’t be so polite,” the inner disciple snapped.

Disheartened, the youth stepped aside.

The next boy came forward.

“What’s your cultivation?” the disciple asked again.

“Spirit Meridian Realm,” the youth replied. Smiling, he pulled out a large pouch and placed it in front of the two examiners.

“Some local specialties from back home, senior brothers, please take a look.”

One of the inner disciples opened the pouch. Inside were a dozen spirit crystals. Satisfied, he nodded.

“Alright, you pass.”

At that moment, the rest of the crowd immediately understood what was going on.

Servant disciples were considered nobodies, so these examiners used it as a chance to extort bribes.

Those who had come prepared with spirit crystals were calm and confident.

Those who hadn’t brought any began to panic.

…

The clouds in the sky grew darker and thicker, and the line of applicants slowly dwindled.

Just then, a shabbily dressed black-robed youth arrived at the foot of the mountain.

Despite the worn and messy clothes, the boy’s face was strikingly handsome. His bright eyes shone with hope and resolve, though deep in those eyes, there was a flicker of hatred.

“Three years... I nearly died nine times... Who’d have thought I’d return here again?”

He clenched his fists tightly and looked up at the majestic sect.

He sneered slightly, then quietly joined the end of the line.

Soon, it was his turn.

The inner disciple looked at his attire and frowned.

“What’s your cultivation?”

“Meridian Forging Realm,” the youth said with a smile.

The disciple looked surprised. He sized the boy up, then said coldly, “Not qualified.”

“Big brother, I understand what you mean,” the boy replied calmly. “I don’t have spirit crystals now, but if I get in, I’ll give you my entire monthly resource allotment.”
