I Own the Multiverse's General Store! -
Chapter 99 - Docile Ally
Chapter 99: Chapter 99 - Docile Ally
The man before Lucius started laughing at his question.
"Is that even possible to achieve?"
He laughed even louder as he repeated the question a second time, as if he couldn’t believe his ears.
"Of course it’s possible! It’s a long journey, and it will be hard for you to achieve, but you definitely have the talent to reach this strength. It has been a long time since I left this forest, but the world shouldn’t be too different from when my master managed to do it."
Lucius frowned. "You said your master was betrayed? How did that happen? If he was so strong as to rule the entire universe, why was he betrayed? Shouldn’t he be strong enough to resist such things from happening?"
The man nodded, as he had already anticipated this question from the looks of it. "He simply trusted the wrong people, and the one he trusted the most betrayed him in cold blood. His wife, the one who then took over the world on her own, used her relationship as nothing but a tool to gain power."
"Wait... you mean that there’s still someone who’s in control of the entire Multiverse?"
The man nodded. "Yes, and for many years, they have tried to find me since I’m the last person who knows the truth of what happened. But ever since I hid inside this forest, they have never been able to find me, since no one ever enters this forest. That’s why I ordered my beasts to attack anyone who would ever dare to enter."
Lucius found that it made sense. If people were looking for him, then he used his beasts as security to make sure that they would never attack him again. However, there was only one problem with everything the man said.
It was the fact that Lucius would only be the owner of the Multiverse General Store for a year at most. The role that he spoke of seemed to require thousands of years of battle and ownership, something that Lucius lacked.
"That’s all good and all, but I’m bound to return to normal in the future since I’m linked to the Multiverse General Store. One hundred years from now, I will lose ownership and, with it, all of my powers."
The man’s eyes widened. "What? You will lose all your strength in one hundred years? What kind of deal is that? And what is this Multiverse General Store that you speak of?"
Now, Lucius was the one who was even more confused, since as far as he knew, the MGS had been relevant for many years, even before he took over it. Almost everyone he spoke to in the Multiverse had heard of it. It only made sense for it to still be there.
Lucius didn’t even have to explain, as Alexia began to talk and revealed everything she knew about it. The man seemed somewhat confused, as he had never heard of anything like it before. That’s when Lucius, Luna, and Alexia wondered if the man in front of them was just a senile old man stuck inside this strange forest.
There was a chance that he had simply lost his mind from spending thousands of years stuck in here without anyone to speak to.
"I-I see... Isn’t there a way for you to keep your strength?"
Lucius shrugged. The system had never mentioned anything related to that. And it seemed that the duration wasn’t something that would be negotiable for the time being or in the future. At least, that’s how Lucius felt at the moment.
"I have no idea."
The man clicked his tongue. "Well, it’s no matter. Let’s say you keep your strength. We can work with that for the time being, since you are the sole hope to take control of the Multiverse once again."
"And why would we want to take control of it again, exactly?" Lucius asked.
Things were going pretty well right now. It seemed quite dangerous to take on this whole thing for basically no reason at all, except to become more powerful as a result.
Lucius just wanted to enjoy this chance at life surrounded by money and women. Taking control of the entire Multiverse could be fun, but it looked quite difficult. Taking control of a few worlds seemed a lot more doable than whatever this crazy old man was rambling on about.
"Don’t you wish to become the most powerful being the world has ever seen?" the man asked with a frown.
Lucius shrugged. "It’d be nice. But that seems to require a lot of work. Is it even worth it with the hundred years that I have?"
The man clicked his tongue.
"Don’t you wish to have a say in everything that happens in the Multiverse?"
"Not really. Seems like a bother."
The man was starting to lose patience, as the man who had appeared before him was the last hope to accomplish the last wish of his master. Whatever he said seemed not to work.
’Why does someone with this blood hesitate to take over the entire Multiverse? It makes no sense! They should believe in themselves and want to become the strongest no matter what. Did something go wrong when they chose the one who would inherit this blood?’
The man began losing his mind, unsure how to convince Lucius to accept his proposition, because as far as he could see, it would basically never work.
"What would make you want to become the King of the Multiverse?"
"Well, if you promise me that it won’t be too much work and that I will be able to relax once in a while, I might think about it. Good enough?"
The man was disappointed but had no choice but to nod. "Fine. We can take breaks once in a while. Do you agree now?"
Lucius shrugged. "Why not? Should be fun, right?"
The man nodded quietly, as he couldn’t believe that this man before him would be the one he would have to count on to take over the world and kill the person who had betrayed his master a long time ago.
A human who had only learned of the existence of the Multiverse a month ago was now his saving grace. It couldn’t get worse than that for him.
"Let’s go. We have no time to waste. Let’s go to your headquarters!" the man said with a lot of vigor.
However, Alexia, Luna, and Lucius shook their heads at the same time.
"We need to take control of this world first. We were currently on our way there, which is why we were getting chased and entered this forest of yours."
The man clicked his tongue before accepting again.
"Fine. Let’s go. I will help you guys speed up the process."
Shortly after, the man guided them out of the Night Forest with a sigh, and his shoulders slouched as a bunch of vampires had been waiting for them.
He looked back toward Lucius with a frown. "Are those the ones who were chasing you?"
Lucius nodded, and the man immediately disappeared and made those vampires vanish in the blink of an eye.
"Good enough? Can we continue now?"
Lucius slowly nodded with a gulp, as he wasn’t too sure what kind of monster he now had under him. His strength was not something that could be trifled with at all.
A few more vampires tried to get in their way, but with his help, they were quickly killed in the blink of an eye.
"W-What’s your name again?" Lucius asked the man.
"You can give me the name you want, Master."
Lucius was a little surprised as he closed his eyes and decided on the name. "Let’s say Walter. Is that fine with you?"
"Walter?" The man looked a little disgusted but ended up nodding. "Sure. If that’s what you wish for, my name will now be Walter."
"Great. Walter, can you stop killing all those vampires so fast? We would like to train a little too."
Walter nodded as he got behind the group with a quick docile nod, which was definitely nice.
Because while he was a threat to everyone around him, he seemed quite docile when it came to listening to Lucius, who he now called Master, which was a nice change of pace.

While all this was happening, inside Dracula’s castle, things were slightly different as the news reached them.
Panic was at an all-time high without a doubt.
"What do you mean they managed to come out of the Night Forest without the slightest injuries?"
"Not only that, they also came out with a strange person. He has long white hair and red eyes; however, it’s not clear if he’s a vampire."
Dracula frowned, as he had never heard of any individual like that in his entire life.
"Is he strong?"
The person who came to report had shivers down his back. "Everyone said that he was the strongest person they had ever seen in their lives."
Dracula frowned before laughing loudly. "Well, they’ve never seen me!"
