Chapter 57: Chapter 57 - Alicia Accepts

Aphrodite frowned as someone asked to see Alicia.

It wasn’t someone she had seen before, and he also seemed to be an elf. Aphrodite wasn’t stupid. She immediately made the connections in her mind, and while she didn’t like Alicia and how close she was to Lucius, she wasn’t one to betray her own friends.

"Could I know why you’re looking for her and why you think that she’s here?" Aphrodite asked with a smile.

She didn’t show for a single moment that Alicia might be here. Her question was certainly strange; however, it was normal for her to be scared of something that she might ignore.

The elf frowned slightly. "She disappeared two weeks ago from our kingdom, and we couldn’t find her anywhere. So, this is the last place we had left to check."

"You already roamed your entire universe in the span of two weeks?" Aphrodite shook her head at the idiocy.

"Well... not completely, but those situations usually only last a few days. This is completely different. She’s been gone two weeks, and the king is getting very worried about her."

Aphrodite’s eyes suddenly flashed a pink color as she stared into the elf’s eyes. She wanted to know if that was truly the truth about it.

"Tell me why you’re here."

"Because the princess is missing, and the king asked me to check this place."

The elf was now Aphrodite’s slave. He would do and say anything that he was asked. He also couldn’t lie anymore. He was truly her slave, just like what happened back then with Axel. It was similar; however, this time Aphrodite didn’t want to humiliate the elf. After all, he had done nothing wrong yet.

"Alicia!" Aphrodite suddenly shouted. "Get down here!"

Alicia, who had been half-awake, was immediately prompted to her feet as she came downstairs. Right as she looked toward Aphrodite, her eyes widened at the person standing in front of her.

"Don’t worry. He can’t say or do anything unless I order him to," Aphrodite smirked. "Well, I guess you really do know him. Who is he?"

"He’s my father’s personal guard. He’s probably been looking for me."

"You didn’t tell your father that you were staying here?"

Alicia looked down, embarrassed. "Well... I forgot, and I don’t think that he would have agreed to let me stay here, especially since he would hate me for even considering liking a human."

Alicia wasn’t wrong.

Her behavior had been very different the first time she had met Lucius. She had made sure to show him that she was not interested in him. It had even been stated in her description that she hated humans and thought of them as inferior.

It was pretty easy to understand where she had received such teachings.

"Do you want to go back with him?" Aphrodite asked nonchalantly.

"Mhm... not really. I-I wanted to go back with Lucius once he was done with his date. I wanted him to meet my family since I knew they were probably worried. But now that he’s here..."

Alicia pouted.

She looked very sad, and Aphrodite noticed that.

Alicia’s life before coming here had probably not been fun since she was a princess. There must have been a lot of pressure on her shoulders, and by coming here, she was finally able to be the "real" Alicia.

Even Aphrodite had felt this change slightly. All the pressure she had as a goddess was slowly vanishing from her mind the more she spent time with Lucius.

"Do you want him to forget that you were ever here?" Aphrodite asked as she prepared to snap her fingers the moment Alicia said yes.

But, surprisingly, that wasn’t the case. Alicia gave the opposite response Aphrodite had expected.

"I-I should probably go back and explain everything happening to my father." Alicia frowned as she turned around. "I’ll go get my things upstairs."

Aphrodite wasn’t sure what was happening, but it seemed that her father was definitely a huge influence on her.

"Why don’t you wait until Lucius comes back before making that choice..."

"Because if he comes back, then I won’t ever want to leave again..."

Aphrodite had never said it, but she had grown somewhat fond of Alicia and her cute behavior. Even if she had her moments, she was definitely a very nice person who deserved to be taken care of.

"Do you want me to come with you?"

She shook her head.

"It’s not like this is goodbye. I’ll come back as soon as I can. I just need to explain some things to my father before he loses his mind."

The reason Alicia was making this decision was that the longer she stayed here, the harder it would be for her father to approve of Lucius, something she desperately wanted.

"You can wake him up now," Alicia said as Aphrodite snapped her fingers, the elf regaining consciousness of his actions.

"W-What... Princess! You were really here!" The elf shouted across the store. "Your father was really worried about you. We searched everywhere for you... to think that you were here! Did they keep you hostage?"

Alicia shook her head. "No... I stayed willingly."

The elven guard found that strange but still nodded mindlessly.

"Let’s go back! Your father will be more than happy to see that you’re back."

"Right... let’s go," Alicia said with a slight frown on her face, her voice completely devoid of any emotion.

The guard noticed it; however, he thought that it would get better once she was back in the kingdom.

"Well, thank you for taking care of our princess. We appreciate it a lot."

After uttering those words, the elf and Alicia turned around and walked through the store’s doors, returning to their world.

’Should I tell Lucius about what just happened?’ Aphrodite thought with a slight frown, hesitating. ’Mhm... I’ll wait until he comes back; he’ll probably lose his mind once he learns of it.’

Aphrodite stood still as the bell rang once more.

It seemed there were a few other visitors coming inside the Multiverse General Store.
