Chapter 38: Hounded By The Paparazzi
Chapter 38: Hounded By The Paparazzi
The sleek, black limousine glided through the city streets, its tinted windows obscuring the occupants from the prying eyes of the public. Inside, Levi and Lyse sat side by side without touching.
Little did they know that waiting for them at the airport was a team of relentless paparazzi, they had been tipped off by an employee or the airport who had the itinerary for their private jet. They had waited for the perfect moment, and now that moment had arrived.
Everyone was curious and wanted a glimpse of the woman who had managed to grab a hold of the elusive billionaire.
As the limousine pulled up to the airport, the paparazzi swarmed, cameras flashing. They jostled for position, desperate to capture a glimpse of the new couple while they flung questions at them. The security guards struggled to keep the paparazzi at bay, but the relentless pursuit continued.
Despite the chaos, Levi and Lyse managed to make their way through the crowd. They boarded their private jet, their escape seemingly imminent. However, the paparazzi had anticipated this move. A small drone, equipped with a high-resolution camera, hovered above the jet, capturing every detail it could catch.
The images were shocking: Levi, the enigmatic billionaire, and his mysterious wife, their faces obscured by sunglasses and masks. The public was intrigued, the media frenzy ignited. Who was this woman and where had she come from? What was her connection to the powerful businessman?
The questions multiplied, the speculation ran wild. The paparazzi, fueled by the public’s insatiable curiosity, continued to hound Levi and his associates, determined to uncover their secrets.
The incident had a profound impact on Lyse. She realized that her privacy was a luxury that she could no longer afford. She had known that the world would be curious about her but she had not expected such a bombardment and even though she did not show it, she was shaken.
She reminded herself that she had only five months to bear this torment and she would be free to do as she wished.
"Don’t worry, you get used to it eventually." An amused Levi said and Lyse shot him a glare.
She did not intend to get used to such nasty treatment by the paparazzi. They were like vultures who just wanted to take a bite at carrion, it was simply disgusting they way they hounded them.
For a moment Lyse felt pity for Levi knowing that this was what he went through a lot of the time then she remembered how he had forced her into the position she was currently in and she decided that he deserved it.
"Do you remember everything you rehearsed?" He asked.
It was going to be the first time that she would meet his family and close friends, there was too much riding on her being convincing to the people who knew him the most.
"I have sufficient brain capacity to remember what I have been forced to cram, I am not a witless child." Lyse said coldly and looked out the window.
Suddenly she felt Levi coming close to her and she turned just in time to see his face coming close to hers.

"Lottie!!!!" Brooke screeched so loudly that it felt like the house vibrated a little.
Lottie who had been dozing while sunbathing by the pool sat up abruptly and fell in the process, landing painfully on her back side.
"What? What?" She asked as she looked around.
"You have to see this." Brooke said as she ran to her with her phone.
She played the video for Lottie to watch and Lottie looked uncomprehendingly at the video.
She had heard that the handsome billionaire industrialist Levi Van Doren had gotten married in secret, she like more than half of the women in the country were heartbroken.
It did not matter that they did not run in his circles or that they were already married, these women bore a secret longing that a man like him might take a fancy to them. But his marriage made him look all the more inaccessible, it was finally like a closed Chapter.
Despite all of that, Lottie thought that it was not enough for Brooke to come in screaming like the house was on fire.
She got up and rested on the lounger before putting back on her sunglasses and saying nonchalantly. "I know that Levi getting married is disappointing to all of us but such is life." She shrugged and attempted to return to sleep but Brooke stopped her.
"No, not that. Look at the woman in the video!" She insisted.
When Lottie heard the urgency in Brooke’s voice she pushed the sunglasses on top her head and took the phone, she stared at the elegant woman beside Levi who was wearing oversized glasses and a nose mask.
"I don’t know what I am supposed to see." Lottie sounded perplexed.
Brooke impatiently pointed at the screen, "that woman is Lyse."
Lottie looked at Brooke like she had lost her mind then looked at the screen at the well dressed woman and shook her head.
"Listen, the man that I met in the hospital with Lyse. That is the man right there." Brooke’s finger jabbed at Levi on the screen.
"That is simply impossible." Lottie refused to believe that Lyse could snag the bachelor of the century.
Why would he want to be with Lyse when he could have any woman that he wanted? Lottie refused to believe it.
"Are you sure?"
"I swear it’s him." Brooke insisted.
Lottie played the video again and watched the woman beside Levi with new eyes, her heart beating fast as her mind refused to accept what her eyes knew to be true.
The gait did look like Lyse’s and if she wore different, more expensive clothes and had a good stylist do her hair then there was a high chance that she could look like that.
"What am I going to do?" Brooke wrung her hands.
It had been easy to think that she could topple Lyse when she thought that she was married to a nobody but now that she could see that her husband was wealthy and powerful, Lyse would be untouchable.
If she dared to post those pictures she wanted to post of Lyse, who knew what kind of trouble she could get into?
