Chapter 79: A Blaze Across the Interstellar Net

The rescue team from Planet 165 had arrived late, their eyes wide in stunned silence as they witnessed the spectacle before them. Their understanding of the world had been shattered.

"Which genius came up with this idea?"

"It’s not the thought that’s terrifying, it’s the fact that they actually pulled it off. Wouldn’t even a movie hesitate to depict such a scene?"

"Could the steel bars within the pillars be removed so easily? And they aren’t that long. How did they manage to connect them seamlessly?"

"The spaceport is elliptical, its exterior sleek. How did they wrap it in steel bars?"

"......"

A whirlwind of questions swirled in the rescuers’ minds. They wanted to interrogate the so-called ’superhuman’ but there were more pressing matters.

They had to save people first.

Bringing hundreds of lev-vehicles, the rescue team evacuated everyone from the spaceport in one go, including Yuri and her team.

Yuri was the last to board a lev. As she left the top of the spaceport, the steel bars binding the structure snapped apart, breaking into fragments.

The enormous spaceport, now without support, plummeted dramatically. Within a few seconds, it crashed into the ground, gouging a huge hole. The once elliptical structure was unrecognizable, transformed into a heap of scrap metal.

Everyone on the lev watched this unfold, their bodies trembling, cold sweat breaking out.

If they were still inside the spaceport, their fate would have been flattened into pancakes.

A while later, those riding the lev with Yuri rose to their feet, bowing deeply to her.

"The steel bars snapped the moment we left. What perfect timing," Vernon murmured, sneaking glances at Yuri.

"If they hadn’t snapped, I’d have started doubting my own education. After all, the so-called hardest steel doesn’t stretch well." Delamak also eyed Yuri subtly.

Yuri ignored their suggestive comments, focusing on her opticomputer, trying to contact Tuss.

"No answer?" She frowned. Had they not dealt with the Level 4 insectoids yet? Unlikely.

Yuri turned to Tyrone next. This time, the call connected.

"Did you get them?" Yuri asked immediately.

"Sort of. It’s just that... Tuss doesn’t seem right." Tyrone answered, pointing the camera at Tuss.

Then, Yuri fell silent. There was Tuss, relentlessly pounding the head of the Level 4 insectoid. Its brains splattered everywhere, but he didn’t stop.

Yuri’s projection appeared behind Tuss, her voice soft, "Tuz~"

The punch-throwing Tuss hesitated.

"Tuss." Yuri called again, a hint of anger in her voice.

Tuss spun around instantly, his handsome face flustered and somewhat at a loss.

Seeing this, Yuri felt a pang in her heart. Her tone softened, "Tuz, dispose of the insectoid’s body, then come find me."

Tuss grunted in affirmation, his voice hoarse, "Okay."

The levs of the rescue team landed in front of the hospital. Since Yuri and her team were uninjured, they didn’t enter the hospital, planning instead to find a hotel and book a few rooms.

As they prepared to leave, the captain of the spaceport security stopped them in their tracks, immediately transferring half a million astrocredits to each of them. He also asked if they would be open to giving interviews.

Yuri shook her head decisively, not interested in the least. Considering their status as military academy students, Vernon and Delamak also declined.

While the captain was a little disappointed, he didn’t insist. He merely mentioned that if they changed their minds, they could find him.

Just as Yuri had booked their rooms, Tuss, Tyrone, and Hoolin arrived.

Upon seeing Yuri, Tuss moved close, burying his face in the crook of her neck, taking in a deep breath.

Tyrone watched Tuss with disdain, joking, "One might think he’s a newly marked beta who can’t live without his alpha’s pheromones."

Yuri stiffened slightly. She knew Tyrone wasn’t talking about her, but she couldn’t help feeling a bit guilty. She needed Tuss’ pheromones. His presence instantly dissipated her unease, anxiety, and faint sadness.

"An alpha in heat can’t stay away from their partner either," Delamak reminded.

"Those without a partner just have to endure it. Otherwise, it’s an endless physical exertion. Comparatively, holding a partner seems easier," Vernon added seriously.

Blushing slightly, Yuri quickened her steps towards their room, Tuss in tow.

As soon as the room door closed, Tuss held Yuri, brushed her hair aside, and sniffed her neck gland. He frowned in dissatisfaction, sensing that the scent of his pheromones was barely detectable.

Just as he contemplated marking her again, Yuri’s communicator rang, "It’s Officer Lyao."

As soon as Yuri accepted the call, Officer Lyao asked, "Are any of you injured?"

"We’re all fine. You got the news already?" Yuri was surprised, the speed of information was astounding.

"Not just the news, I saw your brave rescue operation," Officer Lyao said, his tone tinged with anger. "It was so dangerous, how could you be so reckless? Do you have a death wish?"

Yuri detected the concern in his tone and felt a warm sensation in her heart. "How did you see it? Are you also on Planet 165?"

"I saw it on the Interstellar Net. The video was complete, showing everything from the appearance of the insectoids to your rescue of the spaceport. There are even more videos from your days on Planet 132. These videos are very popular on the Interstellar Net now. The brightest stars in the Alliance aren’t as bright as you guys, especially you, Yuri," Officer Lyao said, his expression serious. "Yuri, you’re now under the public eye wherever you go. If you want to hide, you’ll need to be even more careful."

Yuri frowned, not expecting the situation to have escalated to this extent.

"But don’t worry too much. Even if you’re exposed, the Alliance will protect you," Officer Lyao reassured.

"I will protect my beta," Tuss declared, his arm firmly around Yuri’s shoulder, his tone full of authoritative claim.

"Huh," Officer Lyao scoffed. "Are you sure it’s you protecting her and not her protecting you?"

Tuss stiffened, his face darkening instantly.

Seeing their reactions, Officer Lyao continued satisfactorily, "Currently, there are no starships heading to Planet Alpha from Planet 165. Head to the military department, I’ve arranged for combat mechas for you, equipped with heavy artillery. If you encounter insectoids again, things will be easier."

Yuri and Tuss’ eyes lit up, "Thank you, sir."

Seeing their eagerness, Officer Lyao retorted with a hint of annoyance, "Tsk, you’re a pragmatic pair. Get going, the mechas will provide an additional layer of security."

With that, Officer Lyao ended the call.

"Should we set off now?" Yuri asked, her face full of anticipation.

"Let’s take a shower first, change clothes," Tuss suggested.

Looking at their grimy appearances, Yuri nodded, "Yes, we should clean up."

They took a quick combat shower, spending less than ten minutes in total.

When they emerged from their room, they saw Tyrone and Hoolin also exiting their rooms.

"Where are you guys headed?" Tyrone raised an eyebrow.

"Where are you going?" Tuss countered.

"We’re probably heading to the same place," Hoolin said.
