Chapter 197: Meeting Princes And Princesses
At this moment, Yuri had no idea that her gem, similar to a starstone, had drawn the attention of most of the high-profile attendees at the Imperia Nexus auction.
The Glittering Auction tonight was a massive hit, with tickets being scarce.
Kinx arrived punctually at the hotel’s entrance at half past seven, with Yuri showing up two minutes later.
Kinx raised an eyebrow, saying, "You’re quite on time."
Yuri nodded and replied, "I don’t like people who are late."
Kinx agreed, "Me neither, but I’d wait any length of time for a lady."
Yuri remained noncommittal and headed toward Kinx’s lev.
"Isn’t your outfit a bit casual? Sorry... I’m not saying your clothes are cheap." Yuri’s clothes were far from cheap, outrageously expensive even. The fabrics Kinx recognized alone cost millions. Who is this Bawu, a runaway from some craizly wealthy family?
Kinx had tried to find out more about her, but all he found was that she existed, and her genetic sequence was real. Beyond that, he discovered nothing else.
"Is there a rule that one must wear a formal dress to an auction?" Yuri looked at him casually.
"Not necessarily, it’s just customary. Bawu, you don’t like formal dresses?" Kinx curiously asked.
"Not at all, they’re beautiful. I like them. But I’m worried someone might try to steal my stuff tonight, so I dressed in something more suitable for a fight," Yuri said calmly.
Kinx’s lips twitched as he replied, "In Imperia Nexus, nobody would dare to force a buy or sell, unless—"
"Unless what?" Yuri looked at Kinx, seemingly just curious.
"Ha-ha, just joking. Miss Bawu, don’t worry about it," Kinx laughed, but his eyes weren’t smiling.
However, what he dared not say, Yuri stated boldly, "Members of the royal family dare to force a buy or sell, right?"
Kinx’s face changed instantly, a hint of killing intent leaking from him.
"Miss Bawu, you’re kidding. The royal family is very enlightened and fair. Your worries are unfounded. It’d be better if you avoided such comments in the future. If heard by the uninformed, they might cause trouble for you," Kinx warned.
Yuri nodded, "I see."
After that, they both remained silent for the rest of the journey.
After fifteen minutes, they had to get out of the level and walk because the streets around the Glittering Auction were jammed with traffic.
Yuri looked at the crowded scene both on the ground and in the sky, thinking it was unbelievable that even with flying cars, traffic could still be an issue.
"It looks like a lot of people came to the auction today," Kinx said.
Yuri simply responded, "Imperia Nexus is never short of rich people."
"Not really. It’s mainly because all the items for auction today are treasures, especially a gem that looks like a starstone. Everyone is here for that," Kinx said, studying Yuri’s face closely, not missing a single change in her expression.
Yuri openly said, "Oh, you mean that? Yes, I brought it for the auction. But it’s just a stone, it only looks like a starstone."
"Miss Bawu, you always surprise me. Now even if you really brought a starstone, I wouldn’t be surprised," Kinx’s words took on a pondering tone.
Yuri spread her hands and said, "I really don’t have a starstone."
By this time, they had arrived at the entrance of the auction house.
Both Kinx and Yuri had tickets for the VIP section, so they went in together and chose a corner spot in the VIP area.
When they took their seats, many people had already arrived.
As eight o’clock was about to strike, the host walked on stage with an apologetic face, saying, "Some princes and princesses are on their way here, so the auction may be delayed for about ten minutes. We hope for your understanding."
"No problem, we can wait for ten minutes."
"If the princes and princesses are coming, we are willing to wait even for hours."
There wasn’t a trace of annoyance on the faces of the attendees, but rather they comforted the beautiful host.
The host smiled and said, "Although the auction hasn’t started yet, if anyone has anything they want to auction, you can bring it up now. Our appraisers will evaluate it on the spot and conduct the auction for you."
At the host’s words, the venue instantly became noisy. Soon someone stepped forward and said, "I want to sell my brooch."
Yuri glanced over, but it was just a regular diamond brooch, so she lost interest.
"Bawu, do you have anything you want to auction?" Kinx looked at Yuri’s wrists, neck, and ears, as well as the hairpin on her head. My goodness, she’s wearing tens of billions of astracredits on her!
Yuri shook her head, "I’ve dealt with the ones I don’t like, and kept the ones I do."
Kinx twitched his lips. Not just her, he liked them too.
The arrival of the royal princes and princesses was much later than the ten minutes predicted by the beautiful host. An hour later, they finally arrived.
"It’s your fault. You took too long to pick a dress," the princess said to his sister.
"Eighth sister took so long to do her makeup, why aren’t you blaming her?" said his sister as she pointed to another girl.
"Alright, alright, stop arguing and sit down."
"Hey, there aren’t enough seats."
"They said six people were coming, who knew you would join halfway? They didn’t prepare a seat for you."
"I don’t care, have them make room for me."
The vibe in the VIP section immediately became awkward.
Today there were a lot of attendees, not just in the VIP section, but even the regular seats were filled to the brim. There wasn’t a single spare spot.
"Your highness, please sit here," a man with a shrewd face sycophantically offered.
The Eleventh Prince gave the man a cursory glance and then sat down, saying, "At least we have someone with basic manners."
Upon hearing this, the faces of the people nearby immediately turned sour. What does the Eleventh Prince mean by that? Are we being blamed for lacking manners?
They were angry but dared not speak.
The man who gave up his seat, being praised, laughed even more obsequiously, saying, "It’s my honor."
The prince already seemed impatient, and seeing that, the man immediately stepped back.
The man glanced at the VIP section, and when his eyes swept over Yuri, he narrowed his eyes and walked over to Yuri.
"Get up." The man said to Yuri.
Yuri remained motionless.
"Get up." The man repeated.
Only then did Yuri look at the man and arrogantly asked, "What is it?"
"Give me your seat." The man said as if it was his right.
"Poeto, this is my friend, she was also invited by the Glittering Auction House." Kinx’s voice was cold.
"Your friend? Are you sure she’s not your little lover? A plaything in bed, what right does she have to sit with us in the VIP section?" Poeto looked down upon them.
"Poeto, be respectful. Miss Bawu is here to attend the auction properly, many of the items for sale today were brought by her." Kinx was angry.
"Then she should definitely give up her seat. After all, she is a seller, and I am a buyer. She should serve me well, if I’m in a good mood, I might reluctantly buy her things." Poeto looked at Yuri with lecherous eyes.
